Chapter 5 Lavender Manor
"I'm not selling!" Her eyes brimming with tears, Lindsay shook her head stubbornly, "Francisco, even if you give me more money, I won't sell my body!"
"I heard that Fowler Group is going bankrupt!" Francisco laughed teasingly, "Don't you need money? Will you just watch your dear brother go broke?"
Lindsay remained obstinate, "Francisco, that's none of your business! I'll figure out a way to fix it!"
"Good!"
Francisco suddenly got up, looked at Lindsay coldly, and spoke in a meaningful tone, "I'd like to see how you'll do it."
Then he ordered the guest to leave with a poker face, "There are women's clothes on the couch. Put it on and get out!"
Then he turned away decisively.
As Lindsay watched the leaving figure, a certain part in her chest was pierced.
It hurt badly!
The rims of her eyes were burning.
Even so, she forbade herself to cry! She must be strong!
Without any hesitation, she put on the clothes prepared by Francisco and quickly left the place.
On her way out of the villa, no one intercepted her.
And Francisco had been long gone.
A breeze blew over, rumpling the hair at her forehead as well as her heart.
The purple lavender looked so garish before her eyes and awakened some dormant memories in the corners of her mind.
"Paco, lavender is my favorite flower because it represents love!"
"Linzi, if you like it, I'll build you a lavender manor, and then we'll live there. What do you say?"
"Really?"
"Yeh, did I ever go back on my words?"
...
Lindsay thought of the past.
She felt another tingling pain from her heart.
He did it!
He did build a lavender manor, but his love was for another woman!
Their love had been long gone...
There was no turning back...
On the second floor of the villa...
Expressionless, Francisco watched the departing petite figure. His dashing face became icy again.
Then he took out his cell phone, dialed the number of his righthand man, Hassan Schultz, and instructed, "Hassan, help me check the status of Fowler Group over the past few years. I need detailed information!"
*
It was already midnight when Lindsay went back to Fowler's villa, but the house was still brightly lit.
Lindsay collected herself, forced a smile, and got in with ease.
"Miss, welcome back!"
Cora was cleaning the living room. At the sight of Lindsay, she immediately called out with a smile.
"Cora, you're still up." Lindsay felt distressed to see the old woman still laboring.
Recently, Fowler Group's capital chain broke, and its stock plummeted. Major managers left the company, and bankruptcy was imminent.
All the other servants had left, but Cora chose to stay and take care of the Fowlers.
The bank issued a final notice today.
If they couldn't raise 30 million yuan within a week, the bank would expropriate the villa and put Fowler Group up for auction. Then the Fowlers would face the fate of sleeping in the street!
Lindsay's heart saddened even more.
