Chapter 9 We definitely can't go there tonight.
Her phone rang all of a sudden. The lyrics pierced the old scar in her heart like a knife with pepper spray on it. Lucy almost burst into tears.
She picked up her phone and shouted to Iris while grinding her teeth. "When the hell did you change my ringtone, bitch?"
"Ha, last time when I heard this song, I found it quite interesting, so I share it with you." Iris was too careless to notice that Lucy was in a low mood. She still asked her in high spirit, "Lulu, are you at home now? Have you got up?"
"Not yet!" Lucy wrapped herself with the blanket and said dispiritedly, "I won't make supper for you. Buy me a take-out when you come back."
Iris smacked her lips as soon as she heard her words. "Why did you ask for a take-out? Didn't we make a deal that I would treat you a fancy meal for your help? Get up and tidy yourself up, I'll wait for you downstairs at 6:30. There will be something good tonight, along with a big meal!"
"Make yourself look nice! No refusal will be accepted. You have to join me tonight. Let's call it a deal!"
Iris hung up the phone right after she finished these words without giving her a chance to refuse.
Huh, Iris didn't even take her depressed mood into consideration.
Lucy signed sullenly. She leaned against the bed and changed her ringtone into the original tone of the phone.
She clicked back to the main page, opened the Contact and found Carl's name. After pressing it for a few seconds, she put it into the blacklist without hesitation.
She was too naive before. Now that she knew that he had loved someone else during their relationship, if she still missed him... she would be more stupid than an idiot!
...
At 6:30 p.m., When Lucy just walked to the front door of the neighborhood, a taxi stopped right in front of her. Iris sat in the back seat and waved to her. "Quickly, get on the car, hurry up!"
Lucy pulled open the door and got into the car. Once she sat down, the car was driven away.
Lucy looked sideways at Iris and found her carefully dressed up. She even bought herself a new dress. Lucy couldn't help raising her brow, "You really spent much on this today. Who's the host tonight?"
"Hee, hee. I happened to meet the director of a film and television company, Tony Jordan. And we are kind of friends now. I called him Brother Tony. Given his job, he knows many more directors and producers than us."
"He told me yesterday that the lead actor and the lead actress of the popular IP drama were settled, but the lead actress of the branch drama in the unit play hasn't been decided yet."
"He happens to be quite familiar with the producers of that drama. He is going to invite them for dinner tonight. He asked me to get familiar with them. He knows that we are close, so he specially asked me to take you there as well. After all, it's a really good opportunity. What a pity to miss it!"
Iris patted her on her shoulder and said seriously. "Lulu, don't waste your beautiful face. Seize the opportunity!"
Lucy had a feeling that the friend she claimed was unreliable to ask them for dinner initiatively. But since Iris was doing this to help her, she didn't say much, only warned Iris indirectly that she should be careful not to be taken advantage of.
When they arrived at the destination, Iris paid the fare firstly and then pulled Lucy off the car.
"Hurry up, we should meet him at 7 pm. Don't be late."
Lucy staggered due to her pull. She raised her head and saw the signboard on the building in front of her.
The large words of "Celestial Hotel of Bristol City" suddenly jumped into her eyes. The dazzling signboard almost scared her to death!
No kidding!
She grabbed Iris's arm. "Iris, no! We definitely can't get in there tonight!"
