Chapter 15 Meet Me in Two Minutes

Thinking of this, Zack was depressed and sad. He thought he was fooled in the past two years as he loved her with all his heart and soul. And now, it turned out the woman he cherished had a past which he did not know.

At the moment, Zack was not only disappointed by Blake, but also by love and marriage. His brain was in such a mess that he could not figure out a way to continue.

He was heartbroken thinking of the sheet where Blake did not leave any virgin blood. But he still held that it would be better to marry Blake than Dorothy even if Blake had slept with others.

After all, he and Blake were familiar, and he loved her.

As for he and Dorothy, they were total strangers.

His stomach growled and he felt bad as he did not have dinner.

That girl should be cooking again now after cleaning up, Zack wondered. And he hoped she could have the rice done this time. If she served him with rice partly underdone again, he might whip her this time.

Zack rose to get himself a bottle of water to appease his hunger and started to watch the television.

It was a great play about gunfights. Dorothy did not come to him and tell him that the meal was done after one episode.

He could not wait quietly anymore. He had left the dining room for one and half an hour, yet the meal was not done yet. Mrs. Hunter used to manage it in half an hour.

What was the woman doing?

Zack stepped out of the room and shouted downstairs, "Hey!"

It took a long period before Dorothy cleaned up the dining room. After she had swept the floor and washed the dishes, she thought she had done all the chores. Then she washed her hands before she went to the small room in which Mrs. Hunter left her and slept.

Not having dinner was not a big deal for Dorothy as she and her father used to skip the dinner when they had no food to eat in their hometown.

So, she did not even think about cooking again for Zack.

The moment she got in her bed, she heard Zack shouted "Hey" upstairs.

Then she listened to him confusedly, and no more shouting from Zack was heard. She thought she must hear the imaginary voice and fell asleep.

Zack shouted upstairs and saw the light in the living room was not turned on. He went downstairs. The lights in the dining room and kitchen were also turned off.

Where was Dorothy? He was somehow infuriated and shouted, "Dorothy! Dorothy!"

Now Dorothy was sure that Zack was indeed calling her and hurried to respond, "Yes!"

Zack questioned in a loud voice, "Where are you?"

Dorothy answered, "I am sleeping!"

"What? You are sleeping?" Zack ran to her room and kicked the door in. Then he saw that Dorothy was lying on the bed.

Zack could not bear that Dorothy was sleeping when he was starving upstairs and waiting for so long.

He yelled with anger, "Who told you to sleep in such an early time!"

Dorothy hurried to rose from the bed, "I have finished all chores before I sleep."

"What's the meaning of 'finished all chores'? What have you done?" How dare she say so when he was still starving.

"I cleaned up the dining room..."

Zack was more than irritated now and he shouted, "Get out of the bed and meet me in two minutes!" After saying that, he turned and left.

Dorothy was in a daze now, "Two...Two minutes?"

How could she meet him upstairs in two minutes when all her clothes were taken off? It would be a long time to get herself dressed and run upstairs.

Yet she dared not question him and ignore his words. She hurried to get up and wear her clothes with the laces of her shoes untied.

She zipped her coat as she walked and had no time to tidy up her collar.

When she arrived in Zack's room upstairs in a hurry, Zack was waiting for her with a gloomy expression with a soft black belt in his hand.

"You do come here in a short moment!" He mocked, "Yet it is a pity you are late. Now the choice is on you, should I punish you?"

Dorothy hurried to explain, "I have been tried to be quick, but..."

"Are you saying that I am mean to you?" Zack said indifferently, "Look at you! You are not properly dressed, and your shoelaces are untied! What would other people think about me if they see you there like this? They would think I have done something wrong to you!

Now that she was namely his servant, he would not let it happen that others might mistake their relationships.

Once he thought of the possibility that someone would mistake that he had a relationship with a country girl, Zack felt ashamed as well as angry.

"Nobody will come here now. It's very late." Dorothy justified.

"Dorothy!" Zack yelled at her, "Don't argue with me! Listen, from now on, I will count the times you bicker over with my words. And you shall be punished once I count ten. Just now you have done it for the first time, just remember that!"

"Yes," Dorothy answered without thinking.

Zack was even more unhappy about her reaction when he saw her casual expression which indicated that the belt in his hand did not frighten her at all.

Worse still, his stomach was convulsed with hunger and began to growl inappropriately.

Since Mrs. Hunter left the house, he did not have a good meal anymore. Now Dorothy went to sleep as she liked without considering his feeling!

He must put Dorothy in her place today!
