Mr. Isaac pov

All that day, I was busy finally getting back to my business. So I had to deal with what I had left for seven years already. It was so freaking a long time.

Unfortunately, all I had learned from that awful war was how to catch a gun or pistol and push the trigger and kill someone.

I wasn't that kind of person who attacks honestly, and I was always a defender. Not a killer after all. But I had saved a lot of my friends' lives back then.

Anyway, because of that shit jack, I decided to start over again and take care of my farms and my lands. There were a lot of people who lived there and worked for our family. So, I needed to check on everything, and I knew that Jack came back to meet me, hoping that I was paralyzed or something.

He hated me so much; he was more than an enemy to me.

I kept the secret in my chest for years, hoping that someday I would take my revenge from him.

But I guess that I had no intention after those years to hurt anyone. Even so, what he had done was horrible already.

He was my best friend, but when I was in the war and only after one year of leaving my town, I heard that he raped one of our maids. She was young and beautiful. I wasn't in love with her or anything. But Raping a poor girl! Dammit! That was horrible. And he just offered her some money. The girl killed herself for sure. Because that was a scandal for her and no one would think of marrying her. Our traditions were strict. And because he was rich, no one would dare to face him. Only I was able to do so. I felt so sorry for her. I wanted to take her revenge when I come back. But somehow, hatred wasn't my type. But that doesn't mean I do forgive him or trust him to come closer from Serena or any other girl. That would never happen in my land anymore.

After a very long day walking here and there around thousands of hectares, I felt like I should go back to the castle to discuss few things with my lawyer and my accountant. Especially that Mr. Thomas legs weakened.

Yeah, he became so old. Years changed all of us.

"Mr. Isaac, could we please stop for today and go back to the castle?" he gasped for air and placed his hands on his knees.

I smiled but still teased him, "why? Because you got older?"

He sadly admitted, "yes, I am old. And guess what? You too. You should find a wife."

His words shocked me honestly, and I didn't think of something like that at all.

"what?" I snorted with a chuckle.

And I trailed off while patting his back "alright, let's go back now. I still need to discuss a few things with the lawyer and the accountant."

He frowned, "Sir, we didn't eat anything yet! We have been walking for more than ten hours already. My stomach is growling." he nagged. And seriously his face was too red as if the sun hit his head and he looked dizzy. So some mercy for the older man for god sake.

I forgot that he wasn't a soldier, after all, I mean we used to live under dry circumstances, and we used to do not eat for a couple of days and sometimes do not drink water at all.

I nodded and pulled his hand "okay, let's go back. You need to take a rest and eat something."

He mumbled, "and you need to eat something and get married."

What was wrong with that man! Why did he insist on bringing that marriage after all of a sudden?

I silently walked next to him; only one of my guards followed us. He wasn't a guard but a retired soldier that was so poor but loyal, so I decided to offer him a job.

But once we reached the castle gates, I saw one of the maids standing there waiting for us. She said immediately, "welcome back, Mr. Isaac; dinner is ready."

I expected to see Serena, but for some reason, I thought she went to sleep early or something. Or maybe busy doing anything.

I nodded, "okay, we are coming."

Then I turned my head to Thomas and my guard, "okay, let's eat together."

"But— sir, we can't." they widen their eyes and said shocked in the same breath.

I groaned and said sternly, "I said let's eat together, maybe I am rude and harsh but still a kind person. Not egotistic." and eyes, for sure that was me.

We strolled until we reached the dining table, and we all gathered praying and thanking God for the meal. We started eating, but once I spotted misses Elizabeth, the head of the housekeeper coming towards us. I felt that something terrible happened.

She stood the worriedly fiddling with her fingers, "Mr. Thomas, I need to talk to you, now, please. It's urgent."

I raised my hand to Thomas to sit his ass "talk now, what's going on? Something bad happened?"

She shook her head, but then she nodded, "I don't know if it's bad or not. But I couldn't find—"

She gulped nervously, still hesitated to say her words.

But it soon it struck my mind 'Serena.'

I slammed the table by both my hands and I stood up asking her in hastened voice "Serena? Something happened to her?"

She blew a deep breath away then she whispered slowly "she's missing. I can't find her anywhere, I searched for her for hours, And she's not here. I guess she left after all of you left the castle."

"what?" I shrieked in thunderstruck,

Mr. Thomas muttered coldly, "maybe she just ran away. That's all. Calm down. No need to worry."

But I didn't think like him at all. I felt something terrible happened to her.

I gestured to them, "let's get out and search for her."

But before we could all move out, we saw her giggling and walking next to someone at her age.

I raised an eyebrow and yelled at both of them, "where have you been?"

"and who the hell are you?"

I asked the guy who knelt in front of me in awe already, looked so scared to death and then he replied, "Sir, I am a gardener, I do work here. She asked me to take her on tour around the farms. And—"

She stepped closer and innocently asked me, "What's wrong with that? Mr. Issac, I am free to do whatever I want in my free time."

"SHUT UPPPPP!" I roared, that made my voice echoed in the whole castle.

She started and stepped backward then she ran immediately to her small room which was next to the kitchen. That's where all the maids stayed already.

I stomped towards the gardener who crawled backward. But he had no choice but to stay in his place, or I would kick him out of the castle and the whole town.

I grabbed his collar and pulled him to stand up, and he was barely reaching my neckline by his chest. Then I warned him sternly while gritting my teeth "don't ever come close from Serena! Got that."

He widened his eyes as if I said something unexpected to him.

Or as if he wanted to protest.

I repeated louder, "got that?"

But he didn't reply!

"Did the cat ate your tongue or what?" I hit his head not roughly but enough to make him say something.

He gulped nervously, "but I wanted to ask her to be my girlfriend."

"what the fucccccccccccck!"

Mr. Thomas pulled the Gardner boy from my firm grip and pushed him out of the castle telling him to go now.

I inhaled and exhaled slowly, and raised my finger to Thomas's face "did you hear what he just said? That fucking shit want to be Serena's boyfriend!"

Mr. Thomas stared at me with a grin and said: "you need to find a wife."

I huffed, and suddenly I blurted out without hesitation, "Yes, and my wife will be Serena!"
