Chapter 8 Are You So Cheeky?
The living room turned extremely quiet at the moment. Lucas sat on the single sofa and squinted at Zoe. It was the first time that he looked at his wife seriously in three years.
He had never imagined that someone who tried hard to please him could be so sharp-tongued, and her attitude was as surprising as on the day she announced her divorce.
Even after that day, he still assumed that she would crawl back and beg him with an apology. But now, he began to believe that she really wanted to divorce him.
Sneer, how many days could she persist with such a tough attitude? Who the hell did she think she was, trying to play this game?
The one who spoke to break the odd atmosphere was Sophia, who had been silent just now. She stared in surprise at the hickeys on Zoe's neck that hadn't completely dissipated, "Zoe, how come you have hickeys on your neck?"
After saying that, she acted as if she realized she'd made a big mistake, so she hurriedly covered her mouth and looked nervously over at Lucas, who wore a sulky face and stared at her naked neck!
Zoe spontaneously covered her neck. The composure she had evaporated all at once because of the panic. She wanted to go upstairs in embarrassment but was caught by the wrist when she passed by Lucas!
He got up slowly and said sarcastically, "No wonder you can't wait to divorce me all of a sudden. So, there's a man out there. Well, Zoe, you're really disgusting."
Zoe was thrown by him so hard that she nearly fell onto the floor, and before she could regain her balance, she was slapped by enraged Jon. Her head hit the corner of the table and started to bleed.
Jon was furious and fell back onto the couch, covering his chest with palm, as Olivia rushed to help him calm down, comforting him to take it easy.
"How can I stay calm?!" Jon Edwards was exasperated, "What am I supposed to do to stay calm when she did such a humiliating thing... Zoe, are you, are you so cheeky?! Now, now apologize to Lucas!"
Zoe's heart was throbbing. After she wiped the blood that had flown into the corner of her eyes, she braced herself against the corner of the table and got up, "I didn't do anything wrong. Why should I apologize? I'm done with him..."
"You're in such a hurry to disassociate yourself from me when we're still married? Why didn't you stay away from me in the first place?" Lucas was condescending and cold, "Tell me, who have you been with? Your childhood sweetheart, Mr. Charlie Larson?"
When she heard that he talked about Charlie Larson in again, Zoe couldn't help but say, " Charlie and I are just friends. Don't malign our relationship!"
Seeing her yell at himself for Charlie, Lucas got angry for no reason and said offhand, "Just friends? Tell me which guy left these on you? Who else around you but Charlie could be so shameless as to covet a married woman?"
Zoe bit her lip, her eyes red, and at this moment, she suddenly felt like she had never really known Lucas. He was such an aggressive, unscrupulous man like a dreadful demon, but she had loved him for three years!
Her best friend was so right when she said she'd been blind.
Jon realized that Lucas really got angry, so he shouted harshly at Zoe with his eyebrows frowning for being afraid that she would get his company's interests impaired, "Didn't you hear what Lucas said? Tell us honestly that who the heck was the wild man out there!"
Zoe closed her eyes, refusing to speak adamantly.
Her silence was seen as a sign of weakness, and Olivia snapped, "Zoe, look what you have done to your uncle. Apologize! By now you still have the nerve to yell at Lucas. Do you want to torture everyone in our family to make you happy?!"
