Chapter 15 Who Was That Man?

"You are back." Shirley didn't notice that Kevin was already home until then. She looked back at Kevin, "Have you eaten anything? I made fried chicken."

"I had dinner." Kevin suppressed his doubts.

He walked over to Alice and sat down, finding that Alice was in a good mood, and the corners of her lips kept rising.

Kevin pretended to play with her. But a few minutes later, the topic changed, "Alice, you've got so many toys. Tell me, who bought them for you?"

"It's Daddy! Daddy bought a lot of toys for Alice!" Alice cocked her head as she combed a Barbie doll's hair, preparing to braid the hair of the doll, having no idea that Kevin's expression darkened as soon as he heard this.

Daddy?!

Did Alice's biological father show up?

That was impossible!

Although Shirley hadn't said it explicitly, Kevin had been with her in the past few years, knowing that Alice was an accident in her life, an accident that she didn't even know who the father was.

Kevin suppressed the deep jealousy emerging in his heart.

After all, after being around Alice for so long, the little girl had always called her Kevin. But now, she actually recognized a wild man who emerged from nowhere as her father?!

"Daddy promised that he would come to play with me next time. And Daddy is always kind to me." Alice murmured, having no intention to cover her affection for Johnson.

Kevin stood up immediately.

Alice noticed something was wrong, so she raised her head, "Kevin?"

"I need to talk to your mother. Will you play by yourself first?" Kevin walked towards the kitchen before he left.

Shirley was cleaning the stove. Noticing that Kevin came in and closed the kitchen door, she was puzzled, "What's the matter?"

"Who is the man that Alice calls Daddy?" Kevin asked directly.

Shirley's heart was still pounding wildly because of the man's words before he left. She hadn't calmed down yet, so she replied casually, "Alice didn't mean it."

Kevin did not accept such an excuse. He grabbed Shirley's right wrist wiping the stove and questioned, "Who is that man? Tell me, Shirley Smith!"

"Kevin, let go first." Shirley wanted to get rid of him, feeling pain on her wrist.

But the man was so strong that her struggle was in vain.

"Answer me!" Kevin's eyes were filled with jealousy.

He couldn't care less about the luxury car downstairs and the man with the powerful aura.

He couldn't allow the woman he had been waiting for so long to be snatched away!

Shirley gave up struggling. She looked up at him and was kind of disgusted by his questioning, "It doesn't matter who he is. Anyway, we won't be in touch anymore. Kevin, even if we are friends, I still have the right to keep my privacy. I don't have to explain to you about anything!"

She herself was already upset, but his questioning just now made her feel worse, so her tone was very aggressive.

Kevin's face changed slightly.

Friends, privacy.

The two words were like two daggers deeply inserted into his heart. It was the first time he found that Shirley was a cruel woman.

Thinking of how he felt happy secretly just because she told him to have a good rest, Kevin really felt that he was a big fool!

Kevin staggered back two steps, and nodded, "Okay, I see."

He then left the kitchen immediately. But on his way back to the bedroom, he saw a small black card lying on the floor.

Feeling suspicious, he picked it up to have a look.

But when the bronzing name printed on the card came to his eyes, his pupils constricted!

...

The next day.

Shirley and Alice received a text message from Tom. He invited them to attend his birthday party at the manor tomorrow night.

Shirley was pleased to receive this.

Because it represented that Johnson had taken her advice and wanted to repair their relationship.

Alice jumped for joy, feeling very excited to meet her brother soon.

So, early in the morning, Shirley took Alice out to go shopping, expecting Alice to personally choose a birthday present for Tom.

As for Kevin, he entered the room early last night, and he hadn't woken up yet today.

Shirley knew clearly that she had been too sharp last night, so she knocked on his door before leaving, telling him that breakfast was ready, and he should have some after getting up.

Shirley took Alice to a large mall, a mid-to-high-end one to be exact, which should be enough for them to choose a gift suitable for Tom.

The two of them walked around and watched here and there slowly. When they were hungry, they just went for some food. All in all, they spent a whole day very comfortably and leisurely.

In the end, Alice picked a remote-control plane for Tom, and she bought it with her Lucky money. When they were checking out, she chose a gift wrapping paper carefully and said that she would pack it by herself after returning home.

"Mummy, will Tom like this gift I chose for him?" Alice raised her head and asked when they waited in line for the checkout.

"Of course," Shirley squatted down in front of her, gently rubbing her head, "As long as you choose the gift sincerely, he will definitely sense it."

"Yeah!" Alice nodded agreeably.

When it was their turn, Shirley picked up Alice so that her little girl could personally hand over the money to the cashier.

In the evening, they took a taxi home.

Kevin had already gone out. He didn't even touch the breakfast she had specially reserved for him in the morning and was still out until nine o'clock in the evening. Presumably, he would spend the night out again tonight.

This was fine anyway. It could at least save them from embarrassment.

If she had the idea of trying to like Kevin before, it was strange that this idea suddenly disappeared after meeting Johnson.

She didn't know the reason for sure.

Maybe it was because Johnson gave her an inexplicable feeling, which made her believe that she should live a life she wanted.

She didn't want to force herself to fall in love with the one she had tried to love for five years.

Maybe Johnson was not the only reason. In fact, Shirley had a feeling that Kevin was always outside for...

But it seemed a bit wicked for her to think so.

Anyway, at least she didn't want to live with Kevin.

They had their own residences abroad before, and Kevin had repeatedly suggested that Shirley should take her daughter and move over to live with him.

But Shirley refused.

This time when coming back home, however, Kevin settled everything so fast that she didn't even get the chance to refuse him.

Given it was a fact that she owed him too much in the past five years, as the recipient of all his kindness, she couldn't talk to him too decisively.

How helpless.

When Shirley returned to the room from the bathroom after taking a shower with her head full of worries, Alice was sitting on the bed in a skirt and playing with another box of cooking toys.

Seeing her coming in, Alice picked up a plastic cup decently, "Princess Mommy, this is the earl grey black tea I made for you."

Shirley smiled knowingly.

When she was making tea for Johnson and Flynn that day, Alice asked what it was, and she answered the earl grey black tea, but Alice bore it in mind.

Shirley took the tea, imitating the way how the princess in the court drama drank tea, and praised, "It's really fragrant. What kind of water is used?"

Alice pursed her lips and giggled, "Princess, this is made of the dew that Alice collected from the mountain in the morning!"

The way she was appealing for praising...

Shirley couldn't help joining her to laugh, and then she opened the drawer, "Come on, it's time to inject energy."
