Chapter 1 Wedding Anniversary
After a long, harsh winter, it was spring again. As a night breeze blew in through the slightly opened window, it flapped the lilac velvet curtains and brought a roomful of chill.
Sara White sat up panting on the bed, her forehead wet by cold sweat and her comely face as white as paper.
Tightly, she clasped the quilt with her slender fingers, her red eyes moist with painful tears. It had been three years since that night, but the terrifying scene kept haunting in the dreams. After calming herself down, she closed her eyes again.
In the morning, the phone ringing awakened the woman on the bed. "Sara, it's your wedding anniversary with Kent today. You should grasp this opportunity. Grandpa wants to have a great-grandson." Elliott Fitch, in his 60s, sounded spirited in his voice. He was the only person who was nice to Sara in the Fitch's. But thinking of Kent Fitch, she felt mixed emotions.
Handsome and capable, Kent was the only successor in the Fitch's, running a huge international jewelry enterprise. His one casual stamp was enough to make the whole industry tremble violently.
He was a success in all aspects except for the marriage with her, as he said.
She closed her eyes sadly and replied, "I see, grandpa." Carefully, she hid her disappointment and frustration in her heart.
"Good girl, I've prepared a gift for you. Someone will send it to you after a while." Soon after she hung up the phone, she received a package. She opened it and found a sexy pink lace nightdress. With a wry smile, she put a hand on her forehead.
What a naughty old man...
Unlike other elders, Elliott was very open-minded. After Kent and she got married, Elliott bought them a duplex in Firmiana Garden, the most expensive community in the city. He said that they could enjoy sweet moments without disturbance there and only needed to visit him on the weekend.
But he didn't know Kent had never gone to this house during these three years. If she wanted to meet him, she could only go to the Fitch's, read newspapers and magazines, or watch TV. But now, she didn't want to let Elliott down or keep waiting anymore, so she finally nerved herself to call Kent.
The ringing lasted for a long time. When she thought no one would answer the phone, she heard a gentle voice, "Hello, I'm Mr. Fitch's assistant Isaac Walker. May I have your name? Would you like to leave a message?"
"Hi, I'm Sara White. Please tell him I'll go to the company this morning."
After baking some delicate snacks, she put the baby-blue shirt bought several days ago into a paper bag, wore light makeup, and put on a white dress. Nervously and expectantly, she went out of the door.
After a while, she arrived at the CEO's office in MC International Jewelry Enterprise. Biting her lower lip subconsciously, she gazed at the man who had been signing the documents without looking up at her. In a slightly hoarse voice, she said, "Kent, grandpa said..." But just then, the office door was pushed open.
A sexy figure came into Sara's view and sat on Kent's lap boldly. "Honey, didn't you promise to dine with me? I've waited long for you outside..."
A faint smile climbed on his face. "Isn't it enough to give you a whole night?"
"Really? Where are you taking me tonight?" The woman threw her arms around his neck gaily and landed a heavy kiss on his lips.
