Chapter 15 Jumping at Him

Their fingers were interlocked, and their hair got entwined.

The corners of Harriet's eyes turned red, and she felt limp.

Her breathing became disorderly.

Afterward...

Mervyn put on the clothes for her and whispered in her ear.

"Don't struggle... Listen up; I can have you as long as I want it! No one can do anything about it, so save your energy. If you behave, I'll consider making you more comfortable."

His tone was insufferably arrogant...

Harriet abruptly opened her eyes, jumped at him, opened her mouth, and bit him on the neck.

"Ow!" Mervyn grunted, reached out his arm, and fiercely threw her to the floor.

"Ah..." In pain, Harriet sprawled on the ground, shuddered, and questioned him angrily, "Why the hell are you treating me like this?"

Piaaaak...

The elevator door opened, and light slanted in.

Mervyn dropped his eyes, looked at her tearful face, squatted down, raised his hand, and clasped her jaw.

His eyes looked blurry, "Because... of your face."

Then he steered the conversation away, "Remember to take your medicine! Cuz... this isn't over!"

He got up abruptly and turned away.

Harriet shuddered violently. Because of... her face? What did that mean?

...

Harriet washed her face in the bathroom, adjusted her clothes, quickly had a hamburger at the hospital supermarket, and got back to the ward.

Unexpectedly, as soon as she returned, she saw Jerome standing at the nurses' station.

The doctor was talking with him, and he nodded from time to time, "Yeah, we've thought it over. I am his son-in-law and will sign the paper to give up treatment!"

As soon as Harriet heard that, her eyes turned red.

She rushed over, trying to stop him, "Jerome, don't sign it! You can't! I'm his granddaughter and closer kin! I disagree; don't you dare sign it!"

She ran so fast that her ankle got sprained, "Ah..."

Her ankle ached like hell. Gritting her teeth, she propped herself up with her arms.

Harriet let go of Mervyn and rushed to the nurses' station, "Doctor, we won't give up!"

But by the time when she got there, Jerome already signed his name on the paper.

... Harriet stared blankly at the paper of treatment termination, unable to hold back her anger!

"Jerome!" Harriet widened her eyes, fiercely, "This is murder!"

A beep came from the ward.

Doctors and nurses were dismissed, and all the life-saving measures stopped working...

Harriet mumbled, "Grandpa!"

As she rushed in angrily, the nurses scattered.

"Grandpa..." Harriet lay prone on Ryan, hugged him, and cried miserably, "Grandpa!"

Jerome followed her in, "Harriet, come on... this is a relief for your grandpa..."

"Murderer!" Harriet glared at him with tearful eyes, "You are a murderer! You had it all planned! You pretended to leave the hospital and came back to sign the paper while I was gone!"

"What?" Jerome's patience ran out, and he arched his eyebrow, " Murderer, me? Even the doctor believes it's pointless to continue the treatment, and you call me a murderer?"

"Boohoo..." Harriet hugged Ryan and refused to let go, "Grandpa! It's all my fault. I'm worthless!"

Bella and Hailey also came and walked to Jerome.

"Jerome... the attorney is here." Bella looked excited, anxious to take over the Ever Sun Group the next second!

Jerome took a glance at Bella and nodded, "Okay... it's noisy here. Let's go talk in the lounge."

"Don't worry; the attorney is already there. You think I couldn't handle such a small issue?"

The ward quieted down. Harriet gritted her teeth while her tears kept falling.

See? This was her father! A man her mother was once deeply in love with!

While her grandpa's body was still warm, he couldn't wait to divide his property!

Overcome with anger, Harriet covered her chest... The pain was sharp.
