Chapter 2 The CEO's Position Has Been Vacant
Accompanied by Cordy, Elisa had a brain scan, and the result was perfectly normal. Cordy then analyzed the report and concluded, "Elisa, you will be hospitalized for another week. When your arm is healed, you're free to go."
"Mm." Elisa nodded, followed Cordy's arrangement, and continued, "I need to use the bathroom."
"Mm, be careful."
Elisa didn't really want to use the bathroom but stood in front of a mirror and checked her appearance.
She was disgusted by the fat body in the mirror. There were layers of fat under her chin and rings of flesh around her waist, and her legs were massive. Was this really her? Where were her slender neck and shoulders?
She couldn't believe her eyes. On second thought, she knew it was caused by her former mother-in-law and sister-in-law. Each day they gave her a bowl of tremella soup, claiming it could enhance beauty. In fact, it was a kind of medicine that brought her more weight.
Heh, she would remember their 'kindness'.
When she looked into the mirror again, she gradually accepted the fact. Her eyes became resolute as she got a clear goal.
Because of her amnesia, she lived like a fool for two years. By sheer luck, her memories returned, and she was determined to turn over a new leaf.
She would settle the old and new scores with those who hurt her and reclaim what was rightfully hers.
"Cordy, transfer me to the nutrition department one week later. I need to lose weight." Elisa came out of the bathroom and requested.
Her new life started with the change in her appearance.
"Mm, sure, I studied nutrition and can help you with that." Cordy listened to her idea, thought from the medical perspective, and replied.
"My goal is to lose my weight to 45 kilograms in three months." Elisa nodded firmly.
Following her words, she walked to the sickbed, picked up her handbag, took out a bank card, and handed it to Cordy, "Help me find the best nurse. Here are 10 million yuan to cover all the expenses."
As far as she could remember, the card was given by Martin before the car accident. According to the man, it was compensation for the divorce. Back then, she didn't take it and rejected the divorce. Martin stuffed the card into her handbag and turned away.
Sad with his departure, she planned to find Martin in Jimenes Group and beg him. Unexpectedly, she had a car accident midway.
Now she gave up the begging part. As for the money, she accepted it as a reward for her two-year devotion. From now on, they were strangers.
"Okay, I'll arrange it now."
...
Three months later, Elisa recovered and weighed 44.5 kilograms. Her delicate features, slender neck, slim shoulders, slender waist, and bird legs all came back.
"Elisa, you look stunning." Impressed by her new appearance, Cordy sighed with emotions.
"Thank you." Elisa said politely, "Cordy, I'll leave the hospital tomorrow."
With her stunning appearance back, she was ready for a new life and decided to pick up her career that stopped for over two years.
"Okay, I'll go through the discharge procedures for you."
"Mm."
In the evening, Elisa sat on the sickbed, took out her cell phone, and dialed a number that was imprinted in her memory.
The call was answered, and the gentle voice of a woman came over, "Hello."
"Mia?" Elisa called out the name of the other party.
"Eli, is that you?" After a moment of daze, Mia Barker immediately recognized the familiar voice and asked.
"Mm, it's me." Elisa was touched by the old appellation.
"Ah, Eli, I finally found you." Mia said excitedly and asked, "Where have you been in the past two years? I got no news from you and have a lot to talk with you."
"How is my company doing?" Instead of explaining, Elisa asked.
"Steadily profitable." Mia replied, "Elite Group was listed two years ago and has been on the steady fast track in the past two years. Now we're covering more and more sectors and ranking among the top five companies around the globe. In South City, we're on par with Jimenes Group as a consortium."
When the Jimenes family was mentioned, Elisa was completely indifferent and rejoiced about her divorce from Martin.
"Mm, keep up the good work." Replied Elisa.
"Okay." Mia responded and asked, "Eli, when will you come back to manage the company? The CEO's position has been vacant."
"The day after tomorrow, I'll come back for a look." Elisa said. She would be discharged from the hospital tomorrow, go back to her house, and visit the company the day after.
"Great, the elite members and I will be waiting for you." Mia replied happily and suddenly remembered something, "By the way, Eli, there's a business party in South City tomorrow night. Many big shots will be there, would you like to join in? We've got invitations."
Elisa thought about it and suddenly remembered a person.
It had been more than two years. Maybe she should try her luck to find him.
"Yes, send me the time and venue." Elisa replied.
"Will do, I'll also send you the electronic invitation letter."
"Mm."
...
South Lake Villa was a three-story resort owned by Martin. At the moment, the man was sitting in front of a desk, looking at the divorce paper, and lost in deep thought.
Suddenly, the crisp ringtone of his cell phone came out, snapping him out of a daze. Collecting himself, he took the phone for a look and answered the call.
"Martin, I'm missing you." Sharon's coquettish voice came over, "When are we getting married?"
"You've already divorced Elisa and haven't married me. I'm so sad." Sharon said with feigned grievances.
"Just wait for some time." Martin spoke patiently despite his annoyance.
Sharon was his childhood sweetheart and his love. Two years ago, he planned to marry her, but she disappeared suddenly. Under the pressure of his family, he had to marry Elisa instead.
Now that she came back, he decided to divorce Elisa and marry her. However, after spending some time with her, he noticed her dramatic change and decided to put off the wedding after thorough consideration.
"Oh... okay." Knowing that Martin liked submissive women, Sharon agreed with feigned obedience despite her dissatisfaction.
"It's late and time to sleep." Irritated, he cut the conversation short.
"Mm, Martin, rest early, sleep tight."
He hummed and hung up the phone.
After putting the phone away, he pondered for a while, took the phone again, and dialed the number of his main man, Victor Howard.
"You free tomorrow? Care for a drink?" Asked Martin as soon as the line was through.
"Yeah, there happens to be a party tomorrow night. I'll meet with some partners. Wanna join us?" Victor would like to meet him at the party.
