Chapter 4 Watch Her Die

Four years ago...

As the most popular person among freshmen, Alex received an average of twenty love letters a day.

Nora was a senior of Alex. She first noticed him when he was giving a speech at the welcome ceremony for new students.

The young man's fair countenance, charming features, and white shirt stunned Nora in the sunlight.

His voice delivering the speech was mellow and magnetic. Nora had never heard another voice as pleasant and attractive as his.

Thus, Nora cornered him when there was a chance. "Hey, pretty boy. How about being my boyfriend?"

Without sparing a glance at Nora, the standoffish young man refused her by saying, "No, thank you."

Later, Nora learned that the boy had a girlfriend. It was rumored that they were childhood sweethearts and perfect for each other.

The two of them knew each other since they were little kids and began to like each other in junior high school. In high school, they started to date, and eventually, they entered the same university through hard work.

Nora learned more about the story. She also became aware that the girl had a kidney disease and thus needed regular kidney dialysis. Her family was impoverished due to this.

Nora told Alex, "Now, you have two options. Either break up with her and be with me and marry me after graduation, or I'll let you watch her die. Make a choice."

In the end, Alex chose to be with Nora.

Nora thought she must have been obsessed back then. It was clear that Alex had chosen her only because he valued the other girl more and was unwilling to watch her die.

...

Envy Club was one of the largest entertainment venues in Ann City.

At night, Nora arrived at this place. A text message told her that someone was waiting for her in a private room.

The message was from Alex's number.

"Hi. Are you Miss Stock?"

After glancing at the waiter's uniform, Nora nodded, answering, "Yes, I am."

Upon hearing Nora's answer, the waiter said politely, "Good evening, Miss Stock. This way, please."

Following the waiter's guidance, Nora arrived at the door to a luxurious and unusual VIP room. She did not enter immediately but stood outside for a while.

Messy voices came from the inside of the room. Occasionally, some obscene words reached Nora's ears and made her blush slightly.

"Alex, it's rare that you took the initiative to ask me out, isn't it?" Ian Howard's joking voice sounded, then he kissed the barmaid sitting next to him.

"Yeah, it has been quite a while since you hung out with us. Oh right, where's Hilda? How come she didn't come along?"

The speaker was Nate Pearce, another friend of Alex's.

Unlike Ian and Nate, who had sexy women on both of their sides, Alex was sitting alone.

Of course, it was not because no woman was willing to keep him company. Quite the opposite, the women were desperate to get closer to Alex so that their status would be improved.

Alex leaned lazily on the sofa. He had drained three to four glasses of red wine, but his expression was still composed. He held the glass with his slender fingers, and his throat looked masculine.

Then, he said indifferently, "As you know, she dislikes this kind of place."

Just as Alex finished his words, a pair of fair, slender arms pushed the door open. People in the room immediately looked over at the petite figure following the light shone into the room.
