Chapter 20 Do You Want to Leave Me so Much?
"Wait. Grandpa really wants to give it to you." Leon said towards the woman's departing back.
Alyssa turned her head to look at Leon's serious facial expression, then nodded. "Well, I'll take it."
At Alyssa's words, Leon could not help but feel a bit disappointed.
The women eventually accepted the shares.
Alyssa signed her name on the document swiftly.
On the way back to her bedroom, she called her own grandfather.
When Alyssa's back faded away, Leon picked up the contract from the table and looked at it in silence for a good while.
He had no idea about the woman's real thoughts.
If she wanted to leave, he would probably nod in agreement in the end.
If she wanted to stay, why the hell did she not contact him over this period?
They had been married for more than half a month, and Alyssa had not taken any action.
Leon could not figure out what Alyssa was thinking.
But he knew that she was different from the child she used to be.
For a moment, Leon actually wondered if he was wrong all the time.
He never asked if what he provided was what Alyssa fancied.
Anyway, he could bring the contract back to Grandpa on the following day.
Still, he could not guess Alyssa's thoughts.
As Alyssa's back disappeared, Leon turned to walk out of the villa with frustration inside and car keys in hand.
About ten minutes later...
Alyssa ran out of her room excitedly.
However, Leon was gone.
A moment ago, she persuaded her grandfather to provide Leon with five percent of her Graham Group shares. Where had the man gone before she could tell him the good news?
Did not he come back with the contract on the Hunter Group shares to court her?
Why had he left already?
Alyssa did not overthink it, as they probably would meet each other on the following day.
If he did not come back, she would go to him.
Early in the morning on Saturday...
Alyssa visited the Graham Group to obtain the contract to transfer the five percent of her shares.
Grandpa Graham looked at his granddaughter with a frown, who used to be unwilling to marry into the Hunter Family. "Alyssa, did you think it through? The five percent come from your shares, and without them, your status in the Graham Group will become unstable."
"That's fine. I don't care less about my status in the Graham Group."
"I'm telling you, this is irrepealable."
"I've made my mind, Grandpa."
"Alyssa, are you giving your shares to Leon because you like him?"
"Of course. Otherwise, I definitely won't do something like this."
"But...You disliked him before."
"I do like him now."
Alyssa walked up to Grandpa and massaged his back gently, saying, "I've decided to study hard in the future. By the way, I got the tenth place in the entire department of finance during the last round of exams."
"Really?" Grandpa Graham stared at his granddaughter with a surprised look in his eyes.
"Absolutely. I won't lie to you. It's getting late. I have to go to Leon and will go home to see you when I'm not busy."
After patting Grandpa's shoulder tenderly, the woman left.
Half an hour later...
At the Hunter Group...
Alyssa was here to see Leon, but his assistant told her that Leon was at a conference. Thus, she found a place to sit and waited quietly.
After about half an hour, Leon walked towards the woman from a distance.
"Leon." Alyssa walked up to the man, blinking. "I have something to tell you and have been waiting for quite a while."
"I have something to be busy with. You shall go back home."
"But it's something significant." Alyss stared at the man with her bright, big eyes. "It'll take a few minutes at most."
"I have to go now." Noticing the impatient expression of the person waiting for him outside, Leon grabbed his car keys and turned to leave.
Alyssa hurried to go after the hasty man. However, when she followed the departing back out, Leon had already jumped in a vehicle and been taken away.
Leon was gone.
Feeling somewhat annoyed, Alyssa told herself that the man would come home eventually and decided to wait for him there.
9:30 PM.
At the Hunter Family's villa...
Alyssa propped her head up and looked out of the dark window, her bright eyes staring at the distance and her legs wiggling in boredom.
When she faintly saw a car coming towards the house, she rushed out happily, but the vehicle passed by the villa without stopping.
She sat down on the steps, propped her head up, and decided that she could not go on like this.
Without Leon around, how could their relationship be enhanced?
She rolled her eyes and immediately thought of a brilliant solution. Then, she picked up the phone and dialed Leon's number.
A burst of secret joy flashed across Alyssa's heart when the call was answered.
"Honey, I fell accidentally and hurt my leg."
"Your leg is hurt?"
"Yes, it's bloody, and it hurts..."
Beep...
Leon ended the call before the woman could finish her words.
What was going on?
Alyssa wondered why the man hung up on her like this.
Did it mean that Leon was not into her? She panicked all of a sudden.
If he did like her, he would never hang up on her.
Soon, a vehicle came towards the woman. Before she could see clearly, it stopped. Swiftly, Leon stepped out of the car.
Alyssa immediately stood up with a smile on her face. However, she tripped over a rock as she walked forward.
Bang!
She fell hard to the ground.
Leon picked Alyssa up at once and brought her back to the room with his sturdy arms.
In the room...
Leon rolled up the woman's pant legs and found that her knees were red and swollen. Then, he turned to leave.
Alyssa grabbed the man's hand abruptly, asking, "My knees are bleeding. Where are you going?"
"To fetch some medicine."
A few minutes later, Leon returned with the medicine and helped her with the injuries.
When he was about to leave again, Alyssa grabbed him for the second time.
"Honey, wait."
At the woman's intimate address of him, Leon froze on the spot.
"I have something to tell you." Alyssa hurriedly took out the document. "This is my gift for you. Please sign it."
After seeing that the file was about transferring Alyssa's shares in the Graham Group to him, Leon looked up at the woman in shock.
Alyssa smiled, found no pen around, and then bounced to fetch one from her handbag. "Just sign it!"
"These shares are yours? You have less than ten percent in total. What about yourself if you give five percent of them to me?" Leon instantly realized the significance of the contract. If he signed it, he would have 5 percent of the Graham Group's shares, while Alyssa would have only 4.1 percent.
It meant Leon's status in the Graham Group would be higher than that of Alyssa.
What the hell was going on?
Leon stared at the document and refused to sign.
Alyssa directly inserted the pen into Leon's hand and grabbed it to write down his name. Although the writing was ugly, she eventually accomplished her goal.
Alyssa looked at the signed equity transfer contract and winked at Leon. "Good. I'll fetch the ink pad, and you press a fingerprint on it. That'll do."
As she was about to bounce away, Leon grabbed her arm.
She turned her head to look at the man who had a suspicious expression and grasped her arm tightly. "What's wrong?"
"Are you giving me the shares of the Graham Group to get rid of me and get out of here? Did you go to the company to see me in the morning about this? Alyssa, do you really want to leave me this badly?"
It seemed that she really did not want to stay by his side.
Even if she wanted to leave, she did not have to do it in such a low, insulting manner.
