Contemporary Romance>The Tester of Marriage>Chapter 18 See You Tomorrow
Chapter 18 See You Tomorrow
Emma serially thought Wilson would reproach her.
Looking at the row of wine on the table, she cleared her throat before asking, "President Hayes, what are we doing?"
"You're a marriage tester, and Leon hired you, am I right?" Wilson looked deeply into Emma's eyes. It was impossible to tell the man's emotion, and his lips were set in a straight line.
Emma's heart skipped a beat. Although Wilson looked stunningly handsome, the gloomy expression in his eyes made her heart pound violently.
While Emma thought about how to respond to Wilson's question, he continued, "How much did Leon pay you?"
At the man's words, Emma somehow choked and coughed awkwardly. "No, I didn't..."
"Do you want me to call him over? He dare not lie in front of me."
That was to say, Emma should tell him the truth.
Somehow, Emma heard the expression in the man's eyes saying, "If you confess, you'll get leniency. If you resist, you'll get severity."
Emma fell silent while staring at the man's confident, calm eyes and meaningfully curled lips. She blinked her eyes, withdrew the calmness and composure belonging to a secretary, and lifted her eyes, saying, "Since you've already known, why did you bother to ask?"
Wilson had figured out that Emma was here under Leon's arrangements. Why had he been cooperative in the first place?
It seemed that Wilson could easily see through Emma's mind. However, he asked in a mellow voice, "Can you drink?"
"Huh?"
Emma was confused by the change of the conversation topic.
"If you're better than me at drinking, I'll pretend that nothing has happened and allow you to continue being my secretary."
"What if I lose?" Emma asked softly.
Would this guy throw her out?
"You'll listen to me henceforward." He said loftily.
Over the past three years, to not blunder during work, Emma had deliberately cultivated herself in the aspect of drinking. She was definitely a drinker.
"Okay. If I win, please tell Leon that you're heterosexual and will soon find a woman to marry." Emma raised her chin and increased the stakes.
A playful gleam flashed across the man's eyes.
"No problem."
Soon, the table in front of the two was lined with glasses of wine.
Emma stared at Wilson's shaking arms while he was mixing the drinks. His movements were giving off an air of elegance and nobility, and the look in his eyes maintained freezing. Still, his wrist shaking the glassware easily drew Emma's eyes.
Emma had no idea what kind of drink the man was making. They did not determine the type of beverage beforehand. Therefore, Wilson was in full charge of it.
Emma thought that she was not going to lose a fight over alcohol anyway.
"This drink has a romantic name." Wilson put down the mixer, lifted his eyes, then continued with a smile, "It's See You Tomorrow."
Emma paused for one second upon hearing the romantic name. "I drank it before. It's made with Hennessy V.S.O.P, martini, vodka, champagne, and ginger candy."
Three years ago, when she was still a college student, James brought Emma to a bar run by a friend and personally made a glass of See You Tomorrow for Emma.
Emma curled up her lips into a sarcastic arc, then said, "If you think I'll be defeated by a shot of See You Tomorrow, I'm afraid you'll get disappointed."
"I won't be disappointed," Wilson replied confidently, filling the sixteen glasses in front of him.
Each of them was going to have eight shots. The one who would drain them faster could move on directly to challenge the next type of drink.
