Chapter 4 Calm Down, Breathe Deeply
Judith drove quickly in the rain.
The hatred she had been bearing for four years was appeased for a moment, and the unprecedented pleasure was driving her slightly crazy.
The Pate family! This was just the start of your nightmare!
All of a sudden, Judith abruptly stepped on the brake, hurriedly wiped the rearview mirror, and looked at her ear.
The ruby earring on her left ear was gone!
"It's gone... how... where did it go? I need to get it back. I must reclaim it..."
She ditched her motorcycle and searched along the road amid the torrential rain but in vain.
Great panic made her tremble, and a long-lost sense of hunger quickly invaded her nerves.
Whenever she panicked, bulimia would attack her.
She swallowed desperately, trying to contain the urge but failed.
Regardless of everything, she rushed into a retail store, dashed to the counter, tore at a package, and stuffed the snack into her mouth like a crazy person.
She gobbled ravenously regardless of her bleeding mouth.
When she was on the verge of a breakdown, a big warm hand covered her mouth from behind.
"Calm down, breathe deeply."
A deep, hoarse voice came from above while a hand stroked her throat.
She felt déjà vu.
After she was sold to an illegal factory, she worked constantly except for three hours of bedtime every day.
Food was so scarce that people fought for it and even got killed.
That place was ruled by the law of jungle, and only the fittest survived.
Dragging her limbs with stinky wounds, she scrambled with countless people for food.
But she was too weak and no match for them.
She struggled to survive for a year and almost starved to death. The villains ditched her in a pile of bodies under the cliff.
She was dying but reluctant.
Driven by the last spurt of energy, she suddenly bit hard at the rotten flesh underneath.
Just then, a pair of cold hands covered her mouth, and a deep, hoarse voice commanded.
"Calm down, breathe deeply."
Her pupils burst a strong desire. She couldn't die, not before getting her revenge!
The memories of the past pulled her into the abyss.
Liking her dying moment in the past, Judith clung to her last straw and forced her words out of her throat.
"Save... save me..."
Victor was here to catch her but unexpectedly saved her.
He threw his robust arm around her waist, picked her up, and scooped her away.
Theo was stunned. The solitary man somehow approached someone on his own today.
After a moment of amazement, he came up immediately, "Mr. Reid, let me carry her lest your clothes would be stained."
Victor handed the girl over, but his waist was wrapped by a pair of legs.
"Don't abandon me..."
The stomachache caused her to sweat cold. Her consciousness was leaving her, but she grabbed the man desperately, "Please don't abandon me..."
...
As soon as Victor frowned, Theo's heart lurched as he thought his boss was angry. In an instant, he pulled at her forcefully.
Unexpectedly, his wrist was clasped. "It's okay, send her to the hospital first."
Theo took a glance at Judith and reminded his boss in a low voice, "Sir, Miss Pate is hospitalized for her severe injury. As for this girl, we'd better have her disposed. If the old man found out, he might be mad..."
Everyone knew how much the old man favored Michele. In his mind, she was the perfect granddaughter-in-law.
Victor took a glance at his wet shirt before laying his eyes on her shuddering shoulders.
"Are you working for me or the old man?"
"You sir, of course." Theo felt a shiver down his spine and answered respectfully.
"Go to Blue Hill Clinic." Instructed Victor.
