Chapter 10 The Kids Needs Father
The room instantly fell into silence.
Ariella looked at her daughter incredulously, "Mia, what did you say, say it again?"
Was it her hallucination? Her daughter talked.
She hadn't been waiting for this moment over the years. Did God finally hear her prayers?
"Mommy, it's the kind-hearted man that made Mia talk."
Jasper put in good words for Ivan again. He should make his mommy feel good about the kind-hearted man and then create opportunities for them to date.
"Jasper, is it true?"
Ariella looked at her daughter in amazement and found it hard to believe.
All these years, she tried so hard to fix the issue. In the end, a strange man succeeded? This was just incredible.
"Yeah."
Jasper looked at his mother sincerely and nodded heavily, "You can ask Mia."
Ariella kissed her daughter on the forehead, "Mia, can you call mommy?"
For so many years, Mia just called her once, and she had been looking forward to this moment.
"Mamma."
She babbled in a milky voice. Though her voice was not clear, Ariella could make it out.
She almost wept for joy and kissed her daughter repeatedly. This day finally came.
Gracie thought of the excellent man and spoke with admiration, "Ariella, that man was riding a Bentley car limited edition, and the air about him was imposing. He must be a great man."
"No way." Ariella just found it unbelievable.
Jasper cut in, "He is handsome and nice."
Mia echoed in a milky voice, "Papa, handsome."
Ariella's hand stiffened in the air. Did she miss anything? She looked at her daughter in shock, "Who is handsome?"
"Papa."
The little girl blew a bubble happily at the thought of her 'papa.'
Ariella was baffled. When did her daughter have a father? Jasper, care to explain?
Jasper seriously unfolded the whole story. Why did his sister call the kind-hearted man papa? How did the other kids at school laugh at them because they didn't have a father?
"Are you hurt? Let me take a look."
Ariella's heart broke when she heard about bullying. The kids were her world, and she rarely scolded them.
"Mommy, the kind-hearted man drove the bad people away. We're fine."
"Sorry."
Ariella's eyes turned red as she felt guilty for their suffering at school.
Other children had both parents while they only had one.
Soon, the kids fell asleep in her arms, and she felt content. Meanwhile, she also felt regretful that she failed to give them a complete home.
Gracie whispered, "Will you consider a new boyfriend? The kids need a father."
It was tough for a woman to take care of two children.
Instead of resisting the topic like before, Ariella fell into silence this time. Her heart died a long time ago.
Her heart broke four years ago, and the pieces didn't fit anymore.
Then again, as long as her children had a complete home, it made no difference who she slept with.
She lowered her head and looked at her kids tenderly. Her thick eyelashes blocked the gloom in her eyes.
"Yeah."
Her tone was light but depressing.
The next day, Gracie helped her take the kids to kindergarten and asked her to rest at the hospital for another day.
Ariella couldn't persuade her friend and had to lie on the bed. While resting, she planned to buy some delicious food when she picked the kids up in the evening.
Rat-tat, someone suddenly knocked on the door.
She sat upright and raised her eyes, "Come in."
A man in a business suit came in. File in hand, he stood there and claimed, "Ms. Shelton, the judgment about the car accident yesterday has come out. You ran a red light and hit our normal running vehicle, so it's your sole responsibility."
Her heart convulsed as she understood the situation. She tore apart that jerk's pants yesterday, and his men came to her door.
She took a deep breath and looked over indifferently, "What do you want?"
She asked with feigned composure, but under the blanket, her fists clenched. That jerk looked quite rich. Would he claim a large sum for compensation?
For God's sake, she just returned from abroad and found a job. Before she could buy a house, she had to take on such heavy debt?
"Here is the vehicle repair bill, and the total cost is 1.38 million yuan. Since you have children to raise, our boss only claims 1.3 million yuan."
"What kind of car is so expensive?"
Ariella lost her cool. Damn, she was driven crazy.
Did she crash into such an expensive car yesterday?
"Ms. Shelton, in addition to the vehicle repair fee, you should also pay 500,000 yuan for the shock and mental damage. In total, the amount is 1.8 million yuan."
This was a bolt from the blue.
She didn't have so much money even if she sold herself off.
The room fell into silence. Ariella checked the bills repeatedly and forced a smile, "Well, I don't have so much money right now. Is installment acceptable?"
"Well, I need to report it to my boss, and here is my contact information."
Ariella took the fine business card, which bore the name of the lawyer. His profile looked impressive.
She knew it was her sole responsibility for the car accident. Back then, she listened to the coverage about Rainie, lost control, and ran a red light.
She threw herself on the bed anxiously. Why was she so unlucky?
How could she raise so much money in such a short time? Given the personality of that cold male chauvinist, he would press her for compensation.
Her mind wandered until she thought of the Shelton family.
In the end, she sneered. Probably, there was no longer a position for her in the family. They all wished her gone.
Only she would not let them have their way.
Bzzt... her phone vibrated.
It was a call from school, and Ariella was immediately worried about her kids. In a hurry, she picked up the phone, "Hello, ma'am."
"Are you free, Ms. Shelton? Please come now."
She was upset with the teacher's serious tone, "Anything wrong?"
"Yesterday after school, your child had a conflict with another kid. Now his parents are here, and you're advised to come, too."
