Chapter Two
"Ouch, that hurt as fvck" Devon yelled in pain.
"Fvck!!! Be careful will you, I am in a lot of pain already don't add to it".
"Sorry Mr. Williams, but no matter how I try it will be painful you just have to bear the pain". The doctor or whatever he is said. "Well make it less painful, that's your job," Devon replied pissed with himself and the doctor.
This was all her fault, that b*tch from the night before. "Fvck!!" He yelled again as the pain skyrocketed.
"Mr. Williams you have to calm down, you moving, screaming, or yelling will not help either of us. If only you had agreed to surgery as soon as you were brought in you won't have been feeling this much pain by now".
The doctor continued without a pause. Devon had no come back for that, yeah he was at fault he should have allowed the doctors to do their job but he had thought the accident wasn't that serious to require surgery.
"I have got to prepare you for surgery the doctor will be here soon." Oh, well he is not the doctor.
"God damn it!! if you are not the doctor then who the fvck are you? Devon questioned.
" I am a nurse and my name is Nathan if you had cared to check my name tag you would have seen that". The nurse replied smiling. Dev rolled his eyes pain shooting through his leg to his whole body.
Yeah, as if I will look at your name tag with all the pain I have been feeling and by the way, I never knew there were male nurses I thought it was a female profession". Dev added.
"Well, you thought wrong Mr. Williams,"
"oh, please stop with the Mr. Williams thing, you can call me by my name, we are almost if not agemates, my name is"
"Devon"
the nurse answered before Dev could say his name.
"You even know my name are you a fan? Devon asked. He must be a fan, well it's his lucky day, Dev considered signing an autograph for him before leaving the hospital.
" Nope, not a fan", the nurse replied.
Okay, no need for an autograph. Devon wasn't surprised, most of his fans were females. Bet you if it was a female nurse she would have been a fan. "Are there no female nurses in this hospital"? He asked.
" Yeah, there are, but you are stuck with me till four o clock. Then if you are lucky you will get a female young nurse, and if you are not you'll get the head nurse, she is not so nice as me". The nurse said smiling.
"Well, fvck, it," Devon said, "just how long more do I have to wait for the surgeon and when can this pain be reduced to the lowest minimal"? He asked.
"The doctor will be in the operating room soon, in less than ten minutes, as for the pain it will be reduced but you still have to bear it for a couple of days" he answered.
Devon decided he didn't like the nurse he preferred the paramedics who brought him in they were not nice but not annoying either.
"There, all done," the nurse said, "you just lay still, and the CSA will be here to move you to the operating room in a bit". He said as moved out of the room. "Have a nice day Devon, suck it up and be a man". He added and closed the door.
" fvck you" Devon replied.
Left to himself, he felt even more pain. This was all her fault, the devilish little b*tch. He should not have brought her home, he should have gone home alone but she had been much too hot to be ignored. Yeah, and her hotness has landed him in the hospital. He scolded himself. The b*tch whose name he has forgotten had said she was hungry at about 2 am and he had not wanted her to die of starvation so he had shown her his kitchen that was barely used only for the miss to forget to turn off the cooker when she was done.
The whole apartment was smelling burnt when he woke and he had tried to run down the stairs to turn it off, which has resulted in his current mystery. "Damn her". He had so much on his plate right now, he shouldn't be stuck in this hospital.
He was in the middle of recording his upcoming album and he has a freaking tour coming up next month. Music is the only thing that keeps Devon going, writing songs, recording, going on tours and music shows is how he lived, he wasn't one to be stuck in a place. He sincerely wished from the depth of his heart that his leg can be fixed because he doesn't like the idea of being stuck in a wheelchair.
But he knew that despite how much he wished for it, he knew that there was no much hope with the kind of pain he was feeling. The pain relief given to him had not even helped his course. A knock on the door pulled him out of his thought.
"Hi Devon my name is Adrian and this is Sarah we are here to move you to the operating room." The fair-looking guy, who must be the CSA the nurse had talked about said.
"Finally, please be careful I'm in a lot of pain," Devon said.
"Don't worry Mr. Williams the doctor will make it better," put in the other CSA. She was a pretty lady who would be in her mid-twenties.
"That's good to hear," Devon replied.
The move to the surgical room was smoother than he thought it will be and the surgery also went well. The doctors that carried out the surgery were nice and friendly. But there was a big problem, his biggest fear has just been confirmed by the doctor. He was gonna be stuck in a wheelchair for a few months, which was a disaster. the whole situation was a disaster.
The media might not yet be aware but he knew the stuff will be up on the papers and news channels soon. His agency would have already written their official statement, they are just waiting for the right time to drop it.
Lord this is bad, the timing and everything was bad. The giant-looking bandage on his leg was not helping his mood either. Why in heaven's name did he take Claire home last night, yeah he finally remembered her name. Not like he even slept with her, he had been much too tired and wasted to do a thing. Yet he was being punished for the sin he didn't even commit.
Admittedly, if the fall had not happened they would have done it before the dawn of the day. Well, he was in no shape to do anything for a while. He tried to fall asleep to keep his mind from going over all the loads of shit that might happen as a result of his accident. Firstly, the tour is gonna be canceled. "Fvck" he had waited for months to be about to see his fans again and now that's not gonna happen anytime soon as the doctor had told him to take a few months rest from work to enable him to heal properly. like who needs rest? He can rest all he wants when he is old.
He closed his eyes and wished it was all a dream, that he will wake up and laugh over his foolish dream. But no matter how he tried, it didn't work.
Just when he was about to fall asleep his manager walked in. "Hey, son how are you feeling"? " horrible, I feel shitty Dev answered. "You will be fine just take it easy Mark said. Devon's manager Mark is the closest to a family that he has. He had lost his parents when he was seven and his aunt who raised him died five years ago. Mark was very caring and treats Dev like his own son, he had been with him since the beginning of his singing career.
Devon felt he had let Mark, down by getting into this mess.
"I am sorry Mark, I should have listened to you, I should not have gone to the club yesterday. If only I had listened I won't have been here." Devon said remorsefully.
"It's okay son everyone makes mistakes, just focus on getting better, Mark replied with a sad smile.
"I wish I can do that, but you and I know that this is the wrong time for me to be in this condition. This is all my fault, Devon lamented covering his face with his hands.
" It sure is" Mark replied. Anyway, I spoke with the doctor and told him you can't stay in the hospital, as it will become rowdy when the media finds out about this, And we agreed."
"And?"
Dev asked when Mark stop talking. "Well, the doctor said it will take about three months for your legs to heal properly. So within that time, they will assign nurses that will take care of the legs till they get better. According to the doctor, he can only release two nurses. So they will be interchanging every two weeks." Mark explained.
"Can't it just be one nurse? The lesser people associated with this the better, please." Devon said.
"Hmm, that's true I will speak to him about it. And concerning your schedules, I am clearing everything off. I spoke with the director about two hours ago and he agreed that you are to be on a four-month-long hiatus."
"What!! Four whole months, come on Mark you know there's no way I am sitting at home for four months, even the doctor gave three why make it four?" Questioned Dev.
"Because you need rest son, you overwork yourself. If you don't mind me saying, this accident is a blessing in disguise.
" Mark" Devon exclaimed.
"Do I lie?" Mark cut in not giving Dev a chance to counter what he was saying.
"Let me ask you a question aside from visiting the clubs once in a while when was the last time you took a day off? When was the last time you took a break? You worked hard these past six years, you have succeeded in building a great career, you are doing so well in every aspect, well almost every aspect. Your love life is pretty much zero".
"Hmm"
"Shush, let me finish," Mark said when Dev wanted to argue that his love life was perfect. "You've done so well Dev, more than I even imagined so it's okay now to take a break and just, you know. Anyway, the agency is gonna release an official letter to your fans later today. The tour has been moved to next year and your upcoming album will be released at a later date."
"Wow, you guys already worked it all out, Devon said more to himself but Mark heard anyways.
"It's for your good son, even your fans will want you to rest. For now, you have to focus on healing, who knows you may be up on your feet sooner than expected if you concentrate on healing".
"Nah, Mark stop trying to make me feel better, you just took my job and my life",
"son"
"Not now, Mark," Dev said cutting him off.
"Not now, maybe later. I wanna sleep, the anesthesia is starting to take its toll on me."
"Okay, okay I will leave you to rest. You will be discharged tomorrow morning, that's what the doctor said. I will leave you now and will be back later. Do have rest." Mark said and left the room.
Devon fell asleep almost immediately.
