Chapter 4: Worst Saturday
Lucas looked at his friend in amusement. "You know Cole, you never cease to amaze me, you're a big eater and a big sleeper" he said to Cole who was now walking towards them.
Cole ignored him and turned to Inspector James who was now visible. "Good morning Inspector"
"Good morning Mr. Cole" he replied perfunctorily.
He turned on his phone and gasped at the time. It was 12:30 pm.
"Well...." He stuttered and Lucas smirked.
"Well what?" Lucas taunted.
He threw his arms in the air. "Whatever!
I was tired anyway"
"You slept through the afternoon!" Scolded Lucas.
" Sorry dad" Cole said having a serious expression on.
Lucas glared at him, he knew Cole was trying to annoy him. He hated it when Cole called him dad tho somehow he deserved the the title has always been the one looking out for Cole.
Inspector James couldn't help but giggle at the little drama in front of him.
Lucas cleared his throat. "You know Cole, you're a distraction, inspector James and I were in a serious conversation before you showed up"
" Really? " He asked seriously.
" Yes" inspector James answered." Isabella was adopted by Tracy McDowell, a 30 years old lady. She works as a manager at New York City Reporters and reports has it that's she's single and...."
" And? " Lucas urged him to go on already finding Tracy McDowell interesting.
"And the most amazing part of it" Inspector James said flipping through his notepad, "is... her address...."
"What about her address?" This time Cole asked.
With a smile he said, "She lives at No.19 Brookdale street"
"What! " Cole and Lucas screamed at the same time.
" Wait a minute... This house is No.25 Brookdale street, does it mean she... " He trailed off.
" Exactly dude" Cole said excitedly, "she lives six houses away from us. This is amazing!"
Lucas couldn't help the smile that crept to his face. He is few blocks away from his daughter. So unreal yet true.
Inspector James stood up with a smile. He was happy that he made people happy. One of the few reasons he loved his job.
He stretched his hand for a hand shake, Lucas stood up and clasped his hand in his. "Thank you so much Inspector, I'm so grateful" he said with smiles.
" You're welcome Mr. Hernandez and good luck with your daughter" he replied.
" Thanks again Inspector, your pay will be sent to your account" Cole said and shook hands with the inspector after which he exited the house.
"Wow! Unbelievable" Cole smiled doing a victory dance. Lucas laughed at his funny dancing steps. He picked up his car keys and his phone from the table.
"Let's pay Tracy McDowell a visit"

Tracy loved Saturdays best. It was one of her free days and the day she got to spend time with herself. She had already sent Hailey over to Sharon since yesterday for the weekend so that she can have a quiet time for herself.
She followed a strict schedule every Saturday. From waking up to going the gym then general cleaning of the house and breakfast.
It was 12:00 pm and she was preparing lunch. She wanted to prepare Buffalo Chicken wings. Her favorite. She was chopping the vegetables when her door bell rang.
She stopped abruptly. She wasn't expecting anyone close by apart from Sharon and she knew that Sharon would not visit her today. It wasn't their "Girls day out" day and besides she had Hailey with her. She was still lost in her thoughts when this time a knock came.
"Coming..." She sing-song drying her hands with a hand towel.
She walked to the door and opened it revealing two men. They turned abruptly when she pulled the door open.
Her jaw dropped when her eyes met the first guy. He was drop-dead mouth-watering gorgeous.
He looked so alluring, there was something familiar about his eyes, a light shade of blue. His hair was jet black and curly, she felt like combing the hair with her fingers. His face was cute, well defined with sharp jaws and a fine stubble which made him look more manly.
Then his outfit, his shirt did nothing to hide his muscles as they were almost bursting out. He had this powerful aura like he was someone important, someone powerful. He screamed wealth.
For the first time in years, she found a guy attractive.
An 'Ahem' from the guy's companion jolted her to reality.
Her face flushed in embarrassment. "Uhnm...."she stuttered, "how may I help you?". She can't believe she embarrassed herself in front of a stranger.
"We're looking for Tracy McDowell, heard she lives here. Is she in?" Cole asked.
"You won't be talking to her now if she wasn't around" she gave a curt reply.
"What!" They gasped in surprise.
" You're Tracy?" Lucas asked.
"Ye...es" she nodded tilting her head to one side, "so how may I help you?".
"Can we come in first?" Cole asked.
Her eyes held them in scrutiny for few seconds before she said " Come in" she opened the door wider and ushered them in to her sitting room.
"Thanks" Lucas muttered and lowered himself on the couch.
"What would you like to have?" She asked with a melodious voice. The type that Lucas thinks is perfect for the bedroom.
He wanted to refuse when Cole piped in, "Any wine would do" he rolled his eyes. Trust Cole. Always after his stomach.
" Okay, give me a minute" she said and exited the room.
She had hardly stepped out when Cole purred, "Damn dude, I think I'm having blueballs here, that lady is a fine specimen, whoever thought Tracy was that sexy".
" Tell me something I don't know" Lucas muttered.
Coming here, he was expecting to see an ugly fat woman with a rough face but Tracy beat his expectations. She had a pretty face and a sexy shape. She was putting on a tank top and joggers. He couldn't help but stare at her behind when he was coming in. And God help him if he isn't having blueballs.
Lucas took sometime to admire the interior of the house. The door blinds were lavender, same with the window blinds even the couch he was sitting on had the same color. He figured out it might be her favorite color.
He looked around the sitting room, everything looked so neat and clean. One of the qualities he admired in a woman. Cleanliness.
He was expecting a little bubbly girl to come out and check mummy's visitors but was disappointed as no one came out. Maybe his daughter wasn't around. He was feeling excited and at the same time nervous about meeting Isabella, 'she must be so grown up now' he thought.
Few minutes later, she came in with wine and glasses. She dropped it on table and bent to uncork the bottle making her cleavages visible.
Lucas gulped down nothing. He had to remind himself that he came here for his child and not to lust after her adopted mother.
"Thanks for the wine, it's just perfect" Cole said and smacked his lips.
" You're welcome" she smiled sitting on the couch opposite them. "So ... To what do I owe this visit?".
" I'm Lucas Hernandez" he introduced giving a slight bow.
" How can I help you, Mr. Hernandez?" She asked.
" I'm here today because you have something or rather someONE I need"
Tracy threw him a quizzical look. She's very sure she has never met him before, so why would she have something he needs.
"Sorry, I think you're mistaken, I don't know you and I don't have anything that belongs to you" she replied confidently.
"You do. Isabella" He says.
"Isabella? Who TF is Isabella?" Tracy asked raising her eyebrows.
"My daughter"
