Chapter 7 A Duck Baby in My Body
“You’re pregnant for five weeks. Don’t you know that? What a careless mother. Take some rest before going through the admission procedures. It would be better if you can contact your family.” The female doctor shook her head and turned around to leave.
“Pregnant? Five weeks?” Su Qing thought.
A few minutes later, Su Qing finally realized her current situation.
Su Qing who looked at the report in her hand tried to cry but shed no tears.
“The perfect duck (male prostitute) is dangerous. At first, he cost me six hundred and fifty yuan. Today, the body check-ups cost more than a thousand yuan. The loss of money is acceptable, yet he left a duck baby in my body. I’m about to be a mother of a duckling!” Su Qing thought.
Although she was desperately reluctant to accept the fact, Su Qing decided to keep the duckling after a few hours of thinking. “I don’t have the heart to get rid of this little life.” She thought.
Biting her teeth, Su Qing decided to check in the hospital and save her baby. “I’m lucky that today is Saturday. If I take a several days leave next week, everything will be fine.” She thought.
Su Qing had to call her closest colleague Qiao Li and asked her to get some clothes and groceries from her house while telling her mother that she will go on a temporary business trip as a cover.
After that, Su Qing focused on the treatment for saving her baby.
On Monday, Qiao Li came from the company to visit Su Qing during lunch break.
“Did Destroy Nun grant my leave?” Su Qing asked nervously at the sight of Qiao Li.
Wherever Destroy Nun went, she destroyed everything for her motto was, “Nobody takes a leave unless his parents are dead or he needs to get a divorce certificate.”
Qiao Li took out a sick note and said in wonderment, “I was thinking about making up a good reason for you, but Destroy Nun gave you a leave for a week the moment I took out the note. Besides, she said that if you need more time, you can ask her again.”
Hearing that, Su Qing frowned deeply. “That’s it. The first one to be laid off might be me.”
“Don’t be so pessimistic.” Qiao Li said.
“Well, if I can’t escape getting fired, I’ll have to leave it to fate!” Su Qing may say that easily, but she was worrying, “If I get fired, the whole family will lose support.”
“Ah, whose baby... is this?” At the time, Qiao Li asked curiously, pointing at Su Qing’s belly.
Su Qing and Qiao Li were best friends. They told each other everything. Hence, Su Qing didn’t hide the truth from Qiao Li. “Over a month ago, I went out to get myself drunk and hired a duck. Unfortunately, I got pregnant!”
“Ha? Don’t you know who is the baby’s father?” Qiao Li opened her mouth and her jaw dropped.
“It’s better that I don’t know so the baby will be free.” Su Qing said.
“Then, you want to be a single mom?” Qiao Li asked.
“I want to give birth to him.” Su Qing said, touching her flat abdomen.
Being frozen for a while, Qiao Li said with worries, “Sister, there will be lay-off soon. You choose to have a baby when you’re not even married. Don’t you think it’s unwise?”
Su Qing said, “I’ll take one step at a time. My mother raised up my sister and me despite all the difficulties.”
Qiao Li shook her head for she didn’t approve of Su Qing’s idea.
Meanwhile, Lin Feng was reporting to Guan Mushen about the information he obtained today in details. There was a thunder exploding in Guan Mushen’s head, which made him at a loss for the moment.
Being frozen for a few seconds, Guan Mushen turned around to take out a cigarette from the box on the desk, and then took the lighter as an attempt to light the cigarette.
Guan Mushen was probably a little nervous for he tried several times and there was no flame coming out of the lighter.
Lin Feng saw his actions and went up to take over the lighter from Guan Mushen. Lin Feng pushed the button, and flames finally came out of the lighter. He went up to light the cigarette between Guan Mushen’s lips.
Guan Mushen took several deep draws from the cigarette and went over to the French window, looking at the landscape far away from him.
