Chapter 3 Familiar, Boss Lu Yichen
The phone was ringing again relentlessly. Gu Ruoxi picked it up, and there came the anxious voice of Xia Zimu.
"Gugu, the hospital stops offering the medicine. What's going on? Didn’t they agree to have the operation next week? How can they suddenly stop offering the medicine? They stop offering the medicine, so your mother's condition is not stable. How can she have the operation now?! Where are you? I couldn’t find you last night. I called you but your phone was power off. Did you disappear on purpose?”
The rapid-fire voice of Xia Zimu finally got Gu Ruoxi back to the reality. She hung up the phone directly, grabbed the check on the cupboard and rushed out of the Royal City Hotel. She stopped a taxi and went to the hospital.
Kangshou Hospital, the largest private hospital in A city.
The medical equipment here was the most advanced in the whole city and even in the whole country. You could imagine how expensive the medical expenses were. It was not at an average level.
When she got to the ninth floor of the hospital, she saw Xia Zimu wandering in the hallway with her cell phone in her hands. Her hair was short and sharp, giving people a fresh, cool and free feeling.
"Gugu! Where the hell have you been?' Xia Zimu landed on Gu Ruoxi as soon as she arrived. "I waited for you in the hospital all night long. Your mother asked me where you were going. I could only say that you had an exam to take, and you were reviewing the lessons at school. Don’t get it wrong!"
Gu Ruoxi covered her head and forced a sweet smile as usual. "I know, I am sorry to trouble you, Mumu."
"What are you saying? Want a fight?" Xia Zimu raised her hand again. Gu Ruoxi hurried to beg for mercy, so Xia Zimu didn’t continue.
"Your dad went crazy while looking for you last night. He acted like it was the end of the world. Since when did he care so much about you? When pigs fly"
Gu Ruoxi laughed and said, "Oh, he was looking for me."
Xia Zimu pouted and said, "Of course, there's another one looking for you like crazy."
"Who?" Gu Ruoxi asked in an absent way.
"Mufeng! He came to the hospital four times. I said on the phone, you were not in the hospital, but he didn’t believe it. He came here several times in the middle of the night.”
"Mu Feng was just caring about his friend."
"Only you believe that there is pure friendship between men and women." Xia Zimu pouted.
"You know, Mufeng has a girlfriend."
"Lin Xin, that rich girl? They won't last long!" Xia Zimu shook her head, not taking her words seriously. "By the way, where on earth did you go last night? How come you look so pale!"
Gu Ruoxi quickly pushed open the door of the ward to escape Xia Zimu’s questioning.
When her brother Gu Ruoyang saw Gu Ruoxi, he clapped his hands and shouted, "Mom! Ruo, Xi, sister, sister, she, she’s here!’’
Gu Ruoyang and Gu Ruoxi were boy-girl twins. They had similar features and both were very handsome and beautiful. But when Gu Ruoyang was three years old, he had a high fever and finally ended up with dementia. At the age of 22, his IQ remained at the age of three.
In order to take care of her elder brother, and save the trouble of running between home, hospital and school, she let her brother and her mother live together in the hospital.
"Bro, do you behave well today?" Gu Ruoxi stroked her brother's head affectionately.
Gu Ruoyang nodded obediently, "Ruoyang, behaves well, helps mother, dress."
"Wow, that's great. I will reward you a lollipop later."
Gu Ruoyang laughed very happily when he was praised.
"Ruoxi, your dad has hired a caregiver. She takes good care of us. You don’t need to go back and forth from school to here. The exam is coming. You still need to focus on your study so that you can find a good job in the future. So you don't have to work that hard." Yang Shurong was lying on the bed weakly. She gasped for breath as soon as she finished her words.
"Mom, I see." Gu Ruoxi hurriedly got Yang Shurong a glass of water.
Yang Shurong grasped Gu Ruoxi's thin hands. Her heart ached and she said. "I drag you down. It's all mom's fault."
"Mom, don't say that. I don't like to hear it!" Gu Ruoxi held back the tears coming from the corners of her eyes. She cupped her mother's face in her hands, and gave her a big smile. "As long as you are getting better, Ruoxi is not tired at all."
"Ruoxi, tell mom the truth. Is your dad really willing to pay for my medicine? This hospital is a noble hospital. It's too expensive. You can't do...silly things.’’ While Yang Shurong was saying, tears came into her eyes.
"Mom!" Gu Ruoxi laughed more brilliantly to hide her guilt. "This time it’s really dad who pays for the medical fee. Dad is afraid that Aunt Xu may find it out and then comes to our house to kick up a row, so he doesn’t come to see you. He even told the hospital in private to give you the best medicine and the best doctor.”
"Really?" Yang Shurong still did not believe it.
"Mom, I'm going to talk to the doctor about the operation next week." Gu Ruoxi turned and walked out of the ward quickly. She leaned in the corridor, silent.
The picture of last night kept playing in her mind. It was like a magic spell, not letting her go.
She hit her head against the wall, hoping to smash her head and reassemble it. How could she misremember the room number? How could she go to the wrong room? How could she do that?
Xia Zimu chased her out and grabbed her. "Gugu, what are you doing?"
"I just feel a little tired." Gu Ruoxi took a deep breath to calm her mind.
Xia Zimu took a look at Yang Shurong and Gu Ruoyang in the ward and sighed. "They are your heavy burdens, poor Gugu."
"No. They are my motivation." Gu Ruoxi looked up and her eyes turned determined again. "As long as my brother and mother are doing well, I will do anything."
Xia Zimu held Gu Ruoxi's thin shoulders in her arms and patted them gently. "Gugu, you are always so strong. It hurts me to see you like that."
"Mumu, I'm going to pay the bill now. It's hard to find a matching kidney. The operation must be carried out next week as scheduled.” Gu Ruoxi had made up her mind.
"Where did you get so much money?" Xia Zimu asked in surprise.
"My dad gave me the money." Gu Ruoxi was afraid that Xia Zimu would find out that she was lying. She ran to the elevator in a hurry and went all the way downstairs.
The two little nurses in the elevator were looking at the mirror, fixing their makeup while practicing the most standard smile.
Gu Ruoxi heard them say that the CEO of Chenguang Group, which the hospital belonged to, was coming here today to inspect. He was said to be a very critical and mysterious role. He rarely showed up in front of people. While the little nurses were anxious and worried, they were looking forward to it. Chenguang Group was the largest group in the country. Legend had it that Lu Yichen looked very handsome, and he was still single. Many rich girls wanted to be Mrs. Lu, but he didn't even give them a look.
Naturally, some people speculated that Lu Yichen did not like women.
Gu Ruoxi was not interested in this. She went out of the elevator and stood at the payment window with the check clutched in her hand. She hesitated for a long time, and finally handed out the check.
Even though the money came in a dirty way, nothing in the world was more important than her mom.
Sure enough, the money worked. After she paid the bill, the hospital was offering her mother’s medicine again.
Gu Ruoxi took a pile of medicine and walked back to the elevator. She did not see that the top managers of Kangshou Hospital were respectfully welcoming a handsome man with a trim suit. They were heading for an internal exclusive elevator, which was in the opposite direction of Gu Ruoxi.
Suddenly the man stopped and slowly turned back. He felt that the thin shadow was somehow familiar. He fixed his eyes and looked over, the figure with long hair had disappeared along with a group of people into the elevator in the distance.
"Boss, what are you looking at?" Zhao Mo, his assistant, followed Lu Yichen's eyes, but saw nothing.
"Nothing." Lu Yichen returned to his usual indifferent attitude. And then he entered the elevator escorted by a group of people respectfully, heading for the top floor of the hospital, the nineteenth floor.
