Chapter 25 Barry Agreed to Engagement
Everyone went to see the old man and forgot about the woman on the ground.
Covering her stomach, Mary held the wall and tottered to her feet.
She felt sick and very uncomfortable. That female killer was strong, and Mary was kicked. Her injury should be serious.
"Go and see a doctor."
There suddenly came an oppressive voice from above.
Mary raised her head and met with Barry's indifferent gaze.
With one hand in the pocket, he stood there and looked at her quietly. There was a hint of disdain in his eyes.
He disliked her in the past. What happened today might enhance his hatred.
"I, I'm fine."
Mary moved back and lowered her eyes. Her voice was faint.
Although all fearless at the banquet, she instinctively bowed her head in front of this man.
This was a decade-long habit. She liked and feared him. The habit was ingrained and hard to change.
Ignoring her, Barry turned around, looked at the light in the emergency room, and felt very upset.
In his family, the old man cared about Barry the most. Although his care was a little too much at times, the last thing Barry wanted to see was that something bad happened to him.
Although his tone was cold, he felt somewhat grateful for Mary's action.
Only he didn't believe that Mary really wanted to save the old man. This might serve as an opportunity for her to marry into his family.
The old man soon came out of the emergency room. No big deal, just relapse. Angered by Barry, he got high blood pressure and fainted.
"Grandpa, how do you feel?"
Barry drew close to the old man, leaned over, and asked.
A cold man like Junior Master Lambert behaved like a pussy cat before the senior.
"Humph."
The old man turned his face away and waved at him with disdain, "Go away, I don't want to see your face."
Barry was all helpless.
"My girl, come to grandpa."
Soon, Senior Master Lambert waved at Mary who stood in a corner, and his angry face turned gracious.
He acted like Mary was his family.
"Mary, did you get hurt?"
Standing by the side, Mrs. Lambert suddenly remembered something and apologized, "I forgot to let the doctor have a check on you."
"Auntie, it's okay, I'm fine."
Mary was moved by Mrs. Lambert's care for her.
"You must receive an examination."
Senior Master Lambert looked all serious, "That's a female killer rather than an ordinary person. I don't believe you are unharmed."
"You, go and take Mary for an examination!"
He meant their Crown Prince.
"Hmm."
Barry didn't dare to defy Senior Master Lambert whose blood pressure just went back to normal.
"Kid, you are the granddaughter-in-law in my mind. If the brat dares to fail you, grandpa will break his damn legs!"
...
"Brat, don't you have anything to say?"
At the sight of Barry's silence, the old man was instantly simmering with rage. Frightened by that, Mrs. Lambert hastened to console him, "Dad, take it easy. The doctor forbids you to get angry again."
"Can't I get angry? I won't rest my mind at ease if the brat doesn't marry the girl. Ouch, my blood pressure, my head..."
The old man suddenly covered his head and moaned exaggeratedly.
Mrs. Lambert and others were all helpless.
With both hands in his pockets, Barry stood there quietly. His eyes went dim as if he was in deep thoughts.
After a while, he nodded his head, "Hmm, I will shoulder my responsibilities. If you want engagement, so be it."
Mary widened her eyes.
Without looking at her, Barry took out a cigarette, "You can arrange the engagement. I need a smoke break."
