Chapter five

Chapter five.

Shelves after shelves spread across the tiled floor. The medicine shop is stock full.

Enchantinggggggggg.

The scent inside is potent, as it's blended with mint flavour.

James stalks past my exploring figure, my very orbs wandering the shop, not minding that he's leaving me. When I look down and face my front, he is no more in view. All around me is silent. Was it silent when I first came inside? I'm not so sure. I think it was. Oh god...

This looks like some scene from those horror films I'd watch at times. I hate that I ever watched them. I look around me, no one in view but shelves where drugs are stocked, eclectic kinds of them.

Or wait a minute, is this when they'll kill me? Maybe it's all a joke. Oh, they wanted to feed me, make me feel at home, and such before they kill me. I remember those Vampires movies that tells that Vampires do feed from their prey such that the victim won't be too suspicious, that way his blood would be sweet. They want my blood!

I am panicking. Beads of sweat are starting to cover my forehead. I have an issue, yeah I know. I over-think. Or it could be that my mind is telling me the truth at the moment. Which one do I follow?

I feel a presence behind me before I hear the feminine voice. I had a short panic attack, wake up back to real life, and jump to my behind, "hello there."

"Who are you?" I smack my head on the inside in a mental manner. That's rude.

"Uh, that's quick. I'm the owner of this shop, you are in my shop, and I will like to know what you want to buy?" She finishes with her voice raising up to be pitched.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I wasn't thinking."

"It happens. Nothing to worry about." She calms me with her cooing voice. She sounds fruity...if anyone does sound like that when their tone is sweet.

I smile, and she shares it back. "I'm Zack," I give her my palm and she shakes it. "I didn't come here to buy anything, I came with someone. He says he knows you."

"Is it James?" How did she know that's who I was talking about? Oh, my brain. This is a small town, it's very likely of them to guess personality quicker.

But still I asked, "how did you know?"

"He smells all around you," oh! I wish I never asked. I am lost of words, rendered completely dumbfounded. I raise my brows at her, her face still smiley.

"Hmm." Is my next conversation.

"There you are, Rebecca." James says from behind me. He pulls her into a side hug, and she hums into his shoulder, patting him on the back as well.

"How do you do?"

"Loyal."

"I know you'll be." She responds with, pulling back. I stay beside them, watching their friendship.

"So, here is Zack, he's the guy I told you about last night."

"Midnight, actually." She giggles. They met this midnight? That was after I've gone to bed. I wonder what he told about me to her. "So, how are with being here, Zack?" She questions.

She walks ahead of James and I. "it's good so far." Involuntarily, my eyes shift to James.

Whilst I say, she gestures to James, who passes her some paper, and she reads at it. I think it's a list.

She seems to be looking for something, that's why she's checking each shelve we passes by. "aww, sounds nice to hear. Don't worry, in your stay here, you'll enjoy. We have a bonfire secret night party, hehe," she cracks up laughing, and nudge James by his shoulder, making me laugh as well. I'm the odd one here, because I don't understand what it is they are thinking of. They are both anticipating the good event coming up.

She continues, "pardon my laughter, please." No offence taken. "so, we are having this bonfire night...is it Wednesday, or Friday?"

James hums, thinking too, "it should be Wednesday. I'll ask Adam about it. Once we have a fixed date, I'll let you know."

"Good, okay. Let Zack know too." He nods at her saying. His eyes moving to me.

"I will."

She climbs up one of the many ladders, leaning against the frame of the shelves, and pick a bottle. "catch."

James puts out his hands just in time to catch the small bottle. He shakes it in his hands, a jiggling sound emitting.

"Just two teaspoons into their drinker." She state, climbing down already.

"Okay. Thanks Rebecca."

"You're welcome." She replies with, and hugs me, unexpectedly, causing me to gasp. "see you soon, Zack."

"See you, Rebecca." I say on my way out, James hand, clasping my forearm.
