>CHAINED TO LOVE YOU>CHAPTER 8 THE MEETING
CHAPTER 8 THE MEETING
Madison woke up as early as she could. Today is an important day for her as Dave would be coming to see her parents today. She was super excited as she thought of seeing him again. She picked up her phone on the bed and called him.
"Hey baby" she said happily.
"Hey......" he answered grumpily.
"Um, are you at the airport now?" She asked
"No, I'm still sleeping" he answered
"What! Are you still sleeping? You're gonna miss your flight!" she yelled
"The flight has been canceled" He answered tiredly
"But you never told me," She said angrily
"Yeah, I just saw the text now it was canceled due to bad weather" he said
"Oh" She said sadly
"I'll call you back when I wake up,. I'm just so tired, love you. Bye" he said and hung up.
Madison slumped on the bed as soon as he hung up. She felt so disappointed at the moment. What's she going to do now? She thought to herself.
Her phone beeped. She quickly picked it up thinking it was Dave. It was a text message from an unknown number
" Hope you haven't forgotten the plan to summon both parents today. Am coming with my parents later in the afternoon so be prepared, you brat" The text read.
She fumed at the content of the text. It was from Jason no doubt.
"scum" she texted back in reply and threw her phone to the other side of the bed.
She had totally forgotten about the plan. She smiled and hoped at the same time that it would work.
About 1:00 in the afternoon, the Johnsons arrived at the Thompsons mansion. And again everywhere was bustling with activities. The rest of the children were seen playing together while both parents laughed and joked together. Madison stood upstairs observing the whole family as they bonded in everything. They couldn't be closer than they already are, she thought. She couldn't find Jason with them.
"Always late," She muttered to herself as she walked down the stairs to welcome the family.
"My future daughter in-law" Mrs Johnson joked on sighting her.
They all laughed apart from Madison. She smiled wryly.
"She's getting more and more beautiful with each passing day," Mr Johnson added.
"An evidence of good living" Mr Thompson cut in and they all laughed again.
Not long, the door opened showing Jason. He was dressed casually in a pair of blue denim jeans and a white Polo.
He wore a blue face cap and a pair of white sneakers to match.
Madison swallowed hard as she saw him walk in. He was really handsome no doubt.
She watched as he laughed while greeting everyone. The dimples on his cheek got her admiring his long handsome face.
Their eyes met and she quickly looked away. She could sense he was smiling and she just hoped he hadn't caught her in the act.
She tried to catch a glimpse of him again not knowing his eyes were still on her and their eyes met again. This time they both stared at each other for a while until Madison gave him a stern look that made him feel uncomfortable. He sneered and turned away. She turned away too and sighed heavily.
The whole family had a great time at lunch apart from Jason and Madison who kept eyeing each other at intervals sometimes giving each other a Stern look
After lunch, everyone sat down for refreshments.
"Son, you said you and Madison have something to tell us right?" Mr Johnson asked while licking an orange fruit
"Yes Dad," Jason said, removing his cap which he wore on Ella's head and she giggled.
"But I wouldn't want the others to be here," He added.
"Ok, time to go upstairs. The adult's want to discuss" Mrs Thompson said to the girls who were eagerly waiting for Jason to speak.
Jenny frowned as she looked at Imade who was also unhappy.
"Is it about uncle Jason's marriage to aunt Madison?" Ella asked excitedly
"Whoa!!!!!" Everyone exclaimed
"What does she know?" Mrs Thompson asked looking surprised
"Hey what have you girls been telling this child?" Mr Johnson asked, looking at Jenny and Imade. They both looked at each other.
"Nothing!" they echoed in unison
"You can all go upstairs now, it's fine" Madison said, trying to smile as the girls walked out.
"Too much for a child, she's just 9" Mr Thompson said and everyone laughed.
"So son, can you tell us the reason for this meeting?" Mr Johnson asked as he changed the topic.
Jason looked at Madison and she gave him a signal for him to speak up.
"Dad, mom and to the Thompsons, i want to say that Madison and I are really happy about this decision you guys made for us to get married. We know you all want nothing but the best from us. But the truth is that we've talked and we've spent time together and we came to the conclusion that we can't spend our lives together forever. We are two different people and we have our different goals in life. We don't even complement each other. We don't love each other. No matter how hard we try it's not going to work. I'm in love with someone else and so is Madison.
We want you all to please look into this and try to understand our decisions because, our happiness matters a lot" He ended and Madison smiled at him for the first time.
Both parents kept silent for a while before Mr Thompson broke the silence
"Do you have anything to say, Madison?" He asked, looking at her
"Yes daddy. Though Jason had said it all, I just want to let you all know that our decision here today is not because we want to disobey you. But like Jason had said, our happiness matters a lot. We've always done your wish and now please let us do ours" She said in a pleading tone
"I want to ask a question. Um if I may ask you both, what is the reason you can't be together,? Why can't you love each other?" Mr Johnson asked
Jason and Madison looked at each other and they both kept mute.
"Dad, I don't love her. She's not my type. I have a woman I want to marry" Jason said
"What makes her not your type?" Mr Thompson asked
"Ok you all want to hear it, fine! she has no fashion sense, she's too proud for my liking, she doesn't even respect me. Come on, what Lady goes out with a man and drives his car away leaving him stranded all by himself!" Jason yelled looking at her.
Madison was taken unaware as she looked at him surprisingly.
"Oh so it's all about me now! If you want violence, I'm gonna serve it to you on a gold platter!! " She smirked as she stood up to face him.
"Why don't you tell the whole family what you were doing at the carnival that night that made me leave with your car!! " she barked.
Everyone looked at Jason.
"What? I wasn't doing anything bad. I was speaking to a friend," he said in defense.
"Oh what about the girls....."
"Hey! hey! hey!!!!!" He cut her short immediately so his father would not hear of it.
"What, wait, I'm yet to finish!" She protested
"This discussion is over, I'm not getting married to you and it's final. Go look for a man to tolerate your dirty ass!" He yelled
"Jason!!!!" His mother yelled at him.
"Now apologize!" His dad yelled too.
Madison was cut through her skin by those words
"You're worse than an animal!" She yelled. You think you're fine uh? You think you're handsome? You're just a piece of trash picked from the gutter you dumb ass! What kind of guy keeps his beard like a goat in this century!" She yelled
"What! You call me a goat?" Jason asked as he stood up from his seat.
"Yes that's what you are, meeee" she bleated like a goat.
"Enough!!!!!!" Mr Thompson yelled. And everywhere became silent
"Whether you both like it or not you are getting married and it's final!" He said
"Save those strengths for the wedding preparations!!" Mrs Thompson added
"Mom,dad over my dead body!" Madison yelled
"Shut your mouth!" Her mom yelled.
"Dad I don't mean to be disrespectful but you see this girl here, I'm never ever going to make her my wife not even in my wildest dreams. If you all want the family to be one like you said, then go get Brandy and Jenny to get married so the family could finally be one" Jason said angrily
"uh?????!!!!!!!!" They heard voices upstairs at the mention of Jenny getting married to Brandy. Everyone turned to look up and they saw Jenny and Imade running away.
"You don't know what you're talking about. They're just children" Mrs Johnson said
"Then let's wait for them to be of age" Madison cut in.
"I can't be some sort of family experiment. I can't trade my happiness for anything else" Jason said and walked out angrily
"Me too!!" Madison fumed and walked upstairs. Silence fell in as soon as they walked out.
"You think this will work?" Mr Thompson asked looking at Mr Johnson
"I feel like we should just let this whole thing die" Mrs Thompson added.
"No, they must get married. Have no fear. If they fail to heed to our call then we will do things our own way" Mr Johnson said
"I've watched Jason grow. He can't survive without her. She's the best woman he can ever have. Let's not give up now," Mrs Johnson added.
**
Later that evening, Madison laid on her bed sobbing, when the door opened showing Alex.
"It's gonna be fine baby," Alex said as she caressed her back.
"You don't understand," Madison said in tears without looking up.
"I know, mother told me everything" Alex said
"They don't want me to be happy they just want things their own way" she said amidst sobbing
"They want the best for you," Alex said tenderly
"What about my happiness?" Madison asked amidst tears
"Your happiness relies on you getting the best" Alex replied smiling. "Wipe your tears now baby" She added.
Madison sniffed. She sat up and wiped the tears off her face.
"So what's the plan now, since the meeting's gone wrong already?" Alex asked
"I will bring Dave to meet them and if they don't accept him, then I'll have no other choice than to elope!"
