Chapter four
The whole world stopped for a while, as the only thing that could be heard, were their heartbeat. Alpha Kayden bit his lip, and scoffed repeatedly, while looking at his right hand side, trying to process what just happened. He couldn't bring himself to believing that someone just slapped him, he couldn't believe that the young girl he just met, just wrote her death wish, and he's sure going to grant her that.
Raising his head to look at her, his eyes darkened, as anger flickered on them, sending shivers down her spine. He felt his heart, pounding violently against his chest, as his breath now came out in grunts, his eyes changed to pure golden color, as they stared dangerously at her.
Meanwhile, Ruby froze on her spot, as she stared into those dangerous eyes. She tried screaming, but her voice failed her, she tried moving, but her feet were just too numb to move her. She gulped down the lump in her throat, as she slowly balled her fists, her heart thumping heavily against her chest, like it would force its way out of her chest anytime soon, balls of sweats, formed on her forehead.
Seeing the terrific look on her face, he couldn't help being satisfied, and slowly, a smirk crept its way to his face, as he took a step close to her, his eyes never leaving hers.
"Do you want to die?" His demonic icy voice came on, and for some seconds, Ruby felt that she already lost her sense of hearing.
"Ge...get away from me." She finally managed to talk, as she tried forcing herself to move back, but her legs failed her.
He didn't stopped walking towards her, and with every step he took, Ruby felt her life, leaving her, and she could only anticipate for her death. As much as she want to question him, as much as she is curious about who he is, questioning him was the last thing on her mind at that moment.
Her mind drifted to her sick mom, who's lying on the hospital bed, and she felt her heart, tearing apart. She couldn't stopped thinking of what fate will befall her mom, if this dangerous man, standing before her, end up taking her life. Even if he's going to kill her, can he at least let her see her beloved mom for the last time? Can he just let her say a goodbye to her? Can he grant her the favor of hugging her for the last time?
"Why should I?" His deep voice echoed, but this time his lips didn't move, and that was when she realized that the man just spoke in her head. She cringed, and gulped down the lump in her throat, as her fear ignited again, she doubt if she'll be able to leave the place alive.
She finally moved her legs, as she started moving backwards, while having a terrific look on her face, she glanced around, to see if there was anyone present to come to her aid, but unfortunately, it was just the two of them.
"Don't come near me." She said, and gulped down nothing, as her back was now pressing hard against something, and that was when she realized that she was already leaning against a car, and she wished she could disappear into the thin air.
"Do you want to run?" He smirked, as he finally to her.
"I'll make you regret this, but not today." He leaned in on her, and whispered into her ear, sending shivers down her spine, and with that, he turned around and started walking away, but stopped in his track, as something crossed his mind.
"Look at me." He walked over to her, and commanded. Slowly, she raised her gaze to his eyes, which were now as black as charcoal.
"What's your name?" He asked, as he turned fully to face her, while looking straight into her eyes, and like someone under hypnosis, she stared back at him like a zombie.
"Ruby." She replied absentmindedly.
"Ruby...you'll remember nothing about what happened, I am just a normal human like you." He said in his mind, while staring deeply into her eyes, after which he made some enchantments in his mind.
"Good! Hello Ruby, you danced very well back there, and I must say that you're really good at what you do." His eyes changed to their normal colors, as he smiled widely, and winked at her, before walking over to his car, and drove away...
Ruby POV
I watched him got inside his car, and drove away, as the tears I've been fighting, finally found their way out of my eyes.
"You're a bitch!" His words echoed in my head, and I clenched my fists beside me, while glaring into space, with tears rushing down my cheeks. In my entire life, no one had ever told me, no one ever called me a bitch, because I am not. Is it a crime to work as a stripper? Is it a crime trying to save my mom's life?
After standing there for what seemed like forever, I finally wiped the tears in my eyes, and went to change from the strip clothes I was wearing, to something more responsible.
Stepping out of the strip club, I walked over to the roadside, where I hailed down a cab, which took me straight home. I need to sleep early, so I can go to work tomorrow. Did I forgot to say this? I'm a stripper at night, and a waiter at a restaurant, which I'm not getting much pay.
The car finally stopped in front of our apartment, and I paid him, before stepping out of the car, after which I dragged my feet towards the building.
Stepping into the room, I met Clara, my best friend, sitting on the bed, while speeding away on her laptop.
"Hey!" I faked a smile, as I slumped on the bed.
"Finally you're here. I've been trying to call you for like forever now, but you never answered my calls." She said, and that was when I remembered my phone.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know my phone rang." I apologized, as I brought out my phone my small purse, and swiped the unlock button, but my eyes widened at the tons of missed calls I saw.
I sighed softly, as I scrolled through the contacts, but stopped halfway, as I saw the ones from the hospital, and my heart skipped like a million times...
