Chapter 5 Going Home

After Maggie calmed down, she finally felt her sticky body and thus went to the bathroom for a shower. When she came out, she was surprised to see the former old man and two women in hotel uniforms standing at the bathroom door.

One woman was holding a shoebox, and the other a long aqua blue dress. On it was a dust cover, and the dress looked good in quality.

Keeping his eyes low, the old man spoke, "Ms. Johnson, there are your clothes and shoes."

Following his words, the two women put the dress and shoes on the bed. Then the three of them retired before Maggie could ask anything. In her heart, she thought highly of the service in the hotel. It was a pity that she was only here once in her previous life.

When she went out of the hotel, the sky looked gloomy and foggy. The cars coming and going were turning the lights on, but the dense haze seemed impenetrable. The cold wind blew and brought over biting dampness. The damp road reflected the car lights, forming shadows deep and shallow. The scene looked solitary and distressing.

Maggie tightened her shawl and walked towards the home.

The hotel was quite far from her home, but she had no money to hail a taxi. The old man prepared a pair of high heels for her. Consequently, when she reached the gate of her home, she got blisters all over her feet, and the pain numbed her.

Finally, she reached the gate of the villa that was passed down from her mother. Since the gate was closed, she had to ring the doorbell and wait for someone to open it.

Maggie mocked herself. This was her home, and she waited at the gate like a guest.

Standing in the drizzle, she shivered with cold. After quite a while, their servant, Nanny Collins, finally came out at a slow pace to open the gate. Stunned to see Maggie, she then called out grudgingly, "First miss."

After her mother passed away, Lily Walker hired Nanny Collins. Mrs. Stella used to take care of her mother and was replaced by Nanny Collins with the excuse of her old age.

Maggie squinted at her coldly and replied indifferently, "You still know your first miss?"

Following her words, she ignored the woman and got in on her high heels. Her air was very arrogant.

Nanny Collins stood in the rain for quite a while. Awed by Maggie's air, she didn't even dare to follow Maggie closely. Only when Maggie walked away did she move.

She was frightened. On a second thought, she knew Maggie was just a motherless girl now. Except for the title of first miss in the Johnson family, Maggie had nothing. What was she proud of?

Mister favored Tami so much that everything in the Johnson family would be inherited by her. Now she just needed to serve Tami and the hostess well. Only she didn't know that they had nothing to inherit from the Johnson family. Everything here belonged to the Jones family. As for the assets of the Johnson family, they were already signed to Maggie and managed temporarily by William Johnson due to her young age.

Before Maggie got in, she heard the harmonious and lively voices in the living room.

Tami said, "Dad, mom, grandpa finally agrees to your marriage. This is great, and I will bear the surname Johnson, am I right, dad? I'm finally acknowledged by our family."

Now Tami had not been surnamed Johnson yet. She was called Tami Walker after her mother.

Although she was also her father's biological daughter, no one in the family knew it yet. In the previous life, Tami also didn't know and was taken as the child of Maggie's stepmother.
