Chapter 6 Fear, Would Not Let You Go

Bruce drove the car to the seaside. He pulled Alice out of the car and headed straight to the rolling sea.

"Bruce! What are you doing?!! "

The seawater had come up to her shins, but Bruce was still walking forward. He didn't have the intention to stop at all. Alice struggled hard to get rid of his grip, but it did not work for him.

Bruce finally stopped when the seawater had come up to her waist. He looked back at Alice, who was as white as a sheet. He grinned wickedly and said slowly.

"You are afraid now?"

Alice stared at him in disgust.

The wind was whistling and the sea was rolling. Alice was so thin and weak that she could not stand steadily at all. She could only cling on to Bruce's hand.

"You finally know what it feels like to be afraid." Bruce looked down at the small hands holding on to his big hands. He seemed to be satisfied, but also seemed to be unsatisfied.

Alice didn't say anything. She just looked at him fearfully and obstinately.

Bruce was annoyed by her unflinching gaze. He roared against the sea breeze. "Aren't you afraid that I will throw you into the sea to feed the fish!"

Alice clearly saw the rolling storm in Bruce's eyes and she was really scared.

Bruce wanted to wait for her to beg for mercy, but she didn't say a word, so he threw her into the surging sea.

The water went above Alice's head and she struggled with her arms and legs. But the more anxious she was, the less likely she could stand up in the sea. Just as she was suffocating, Bruce pulled her out of the sea.

He looked at Alice, who was wet all over. Her delicate little face was pale, and it was even paler under the red sunset. She was like a fragile porcelain doll.

He was slightly shocked, not knowing what kind of feeling had fled across his heart.

But soon, Bruce burst out laughing wickedly. "Are you afraid? Afraid that I might drown you in the sea, and your bones would be nowhere to find?''

He thought that he should be very happy and relieved when he saw Alice end up like this, but the melancholy in the corners of his eyes could not go away.

Alice stared at Bruce without blinking. Her eyes were cold. There was no more panic and fear, only anger.

"You are a nut! You're crazy --"She shouted.

"Yes! I'm crazy! That's how you end up when you mess with me, Alice."

"Because of Emily?" Alice suddenly laughed. "Master Cook really can do everything for the woman he loves! If you want to frighten me and let me break up with my friend, I am telling you, it's impossible!"

"Alice, you are not afraid that I might kill you?!" Bruce didn't expect that she still dared to shout at him. With a strong pull, Alice was forced to submerge in the sea again. He pressed her head and watched her struggling in the sea, laughing happily.

But when he saw Alice's struggle getting weaker and weaker, he suddenly let go of her. He pulled her out of the sea. When he saw that she could still breathe heavily, he didn't take another look at her. He just turned and strode away.

Alice covered her heart and tried to breathe. Suddenly, she rushed to Bruce, who was already far away, and pushed him down on the beach from behind.

"Alice, how dare you..." Bruce was so angry that his face twitched, but Alice had already rushed up and she refused to give him a chance to stand up.

"As Master Cook said, the worst scenario is that you will kill me!" Alice had suffered humiliation and harassment from Bruce for the past six months. She raised her fist and punched Bruce right on the face, which generated a bruise on his beautiful profile at once.

"Alice!" Bruce gritted his teeth and touched the sore spot on his cheek. His anger ignited at the bottom of his eyes was like killing Alice. He did not expect that Alice would hit him so he was unprepared.

Alice grabbed a handful of sand and threw it on Bruce's face. She ruined his handsome face completely.

"Alice---" Bruce thundered.

"Don't let me see your face again!" Alice was about to stand up, but she was pulled down by Bruce. Turning over, he pressed her under his body and she became a lamb.

Bruce stared at the disobedient little girl with a grim face. "Alice, do you really think that I won't do anything to you?"

Alice didn't say a word. She stared at Bruce coldly with a pair of clear eyes. He pressed her shoulders, but he just didn't have the heart to do something terrible to the thin and weak girl beneath him.

He slowly approached her cheek and his hot breath slid from her cheek to her ear.

Alice was disgusted and she wanted to avoid it, but she failed to push him away.

"You will beg for mercy." He raised the corner of his lips and whispered softly in her ear. It was like a curse, lingering in her heart.

Alice didn't know where she got the strength. She pushed him away, stood up quickly and took many steps back. The strange atmosphere he created just now was something that really made her nervous and scared. She wanted to escape from it.

Bruce wiped away the mud on his face, and then he oddly looked at Alice who had run away. There was a smile lingering wickedly on his lips.

Alice just kept running backward. She did not want to provoke this devil again. She really did not want to, not at all. If she could escape, she wished that half a year ago, she hadn't rushed to work, so that she wouldn't have been almost knocked down by Bruce's car, and she would not have met him.

Alice was running when she found that somebody put his arm around her shoulder gently. She trembled and she almost screamed out.

"Alice."

David's gentle call came in her ears like a melodious song, soothing all Alice's panic.

Her eyes were still fixed on Bruce who was standing not far away. The tall figure in the blue sea and sky was like a mast that never bent, giving people a sense of loneliness and coldness.

Alice thought that she must be dazzled. For rich kids like Bruce, they were doing what they wanted all day. How could he be lonely?

David stared at Bruce, and then he pulled Alice out of the seaside and got her into his car.

Bruce looked at Alice in the distance, slowly spitting out some words from his lips.

"Alice, I will never let you go."

David turned on the heater in the car and handed Alice a towel. "You will catch a cold."

Alice bowed her head and dried her hair without saying a word.

"Sorry, I'm late." David said in a very low voice. He reached out and wanted to take Alice in his arms, but finally he just patted her on the shoulder.

Alice shook her head. She did not want to talk. She leaned tiredly against the passenger seat.

David started the engine, and the car slowly drove out. The speed was moderate and the car drove smoothly, making Alice, who was already tired, sleepy.

Outside the window, there was a loud and arrogant toot. David hastened to make way, and he managed to avoid Bruce's car, which was driving at full blast. It really put him in a cold sweat.

"Bruce, you're really..." David was so angry.

Alice was startled, looking at the black Bentley far away. Now she was wide awake.
