Chapter 8 Searching, Boss was Hard to Serve
That man never checked out. Room 2218 was his exclusive territory.
Alice smiled happily. God blessed her. There was a hope of finding the diamond ring. She walked towards the elevator, and wanted to go to the 22nd floor to get the diamond ring back, but the attendant stopped her politely.
"I'm sorry, miss, only the guests living here are admitted to go upstairs."
Alice was wearing a T-shirt and jeans. She could not be more ordinary, so she was not allowed to enter such a fancy hotel. She was able to get in that day due to the branded black dress and the diamond ring hanging around her neck.
Alice gritted her teeth and asked the attendant, "How much it costs if I book a room on the 22nd floor for one night?"
The attendant looked up and down at Alice and laughed, "The 22nd floor is the top luxury presidential suite in our hotel. It costs at least 200 or 300 thousand a night. Don't play with us, miss."
"God, so expensive!" Alice knew the price was high here, but she didn't expect it would be so expensive to stay for a night.
She had seen the luxury decoration of that man's room and almost all the furniture glittered with gold.
But...
It was too luxurious to spend so much money staying at a hotel for a night.
Alice had to turn around and get out of the Royal City Hotel. She lingered outside for a long time, watching the fancy cars coming and going in the parking lot. She sighed, feeling at a loss.
If she couldn't get close to the 22nd floor, she wouldn't see the man and get the diamond ring back.
If she failed to find the diamond ring, her dad would not let her get away from it.
Alice walked around the street lamp post, racking her brains, but she could not think of a good solution.
At that moment, a luxurious long Lincoln limousine slowly drove into the Royal City Hotel. The person in the car caught a glimpse of Alice, who was restless under the street lamp, and he narrowed his eyes slightly.
That small figure seemed familiar.
A brief glance did not evoke too many memories of this man.
"Boss, this is her medical record sent by a foreign hospital." Ben showed the document on the tablet to Carlos.
Carlos looked at it briefly and nodded. "Print it out and hand it to the director of Wellbeing Hospital tomorrow."
"Yes, Boss." Ben was silent for a moment and then he said, "Miss Smith said...she tried to call you many times, but in vain, so she called the company and asked if you can have breakfast with her tomorrow morning. "
Carlos was silent for a second and then he said, "No, don't answer her phone again."
"... Yes. "
Carlos got out of the car, and he couldn't help turning his head back and taking another look at Alice, who kept walking around the street lamp post. He narrowed his dark eyes. He really couldn't recall where he had seen her before. He gave Ben a hint with his eyes. Ben got it immediately and walked to Alice.
Carlos turned to the Royal City Hotel. The staff in the hotel came and bowed to him in a respectful manner. Manager Kent of the hotel, carrying the report of the hotel's performance for the last month, followed Carlos into the elevator and reported to him carefully.
The elevator went straight to the 22nd floor.
Carlos was silent for two seconds after listening to Manager Kent's report. It made Manager Kent feel like he had gone through years. He broke into a cold sweat.
The elevator door opened on the 22nd floor.
"I don't want to see such a poor performance next month." Carlos's voice was very calm, but it had placed much stress on people.
"Yes, Boss! I guarantee that we will work out a plan to improve the hotel's performance.'' Manager Kent hurried to promise.
"Send your plan to my office tomorrow morning."
"Tomorrow morning...” Wasn't it too much in a hurry?
"You can't do it?" Carlos stared at Manager Kent. Manager Kent shook his head immediately in fear.
"I'll definitely give it to you tomorrow morning." Manager Kent lowered his head, with his blood frozen. He cried out in his heart that his boss was the most difficult superior he had ever seen.
Carlos gave a quick glimpse of the scrupulously clean elevator, "In the bottom left corner, there is some dust. For the staff who cleans the elevator, settle her wages. She can go home now."
Carlos strode out of the elevator and went straight to his room, 2218.
"... Yes, yes, I will handle it right away.'' Manager Kent's legs shook uncontrollably. He pressed the button leading to the first floor, and escaped from here as soon as possible.
Ben suddenly showed up under the street lamp, which scared Alice.
"What's wrong?" Alice knitted her eyebrows and looked at this handsome man well dressed in his suit.
Ben smiled politely. He felt a little sorry and said awkwardly. "If you don't have anything else to do, can you change a place to... walk around the street lamp?"
Alice raised her head and looked around. She did not feel that she was in anybody's way. "Does this street lamp have an owner?"
"..." Ben was kind of shocked. He was too embarrassed to say it so he put it in this way. "This is under our hotel's management."
"Under your hotel's management? So what?" Alice could not figure out what he wanted to say.
Ben smiled apologetically. He understood what his boss meant. He didn't like ordinary people to linger around the Royal City Hotel. It would affect the hotel's status in the important guests' hearts.
The fancy places where people from the upper class went were not allowed to have ordinary people around. They didn't want their world to be polluted by people from inferior societies.
Ben didn't agree with it, but he had to follow what he was told to.
"Miss, don't you think that you are very out of place, compared with those rich ladies wearing jewels all over their bodies in the hotel?"
Alice finally understood, "That's what you mean! You think I am very, very..." Alice gritted her teeth angrily. "I want to check in your hotel. Are you going to turn down your guest?"
"You want to check in our hotel?" Ben looked up and down at Alice instinctively. She was indeed a beautiful girl, clean and pure, giving people a fresh and bright feeling. But this did not mean that an ordinary college student like her could afford this expensive hotel.
"I can make a complaint against you just by the way you looked at me just now." Alice was angry.
"Make a complaint against me?" Ben pointed at himself with a bitter smile.
"Because you judge people by their appearances! This is a huge insult to the guest who is going to stay in your hotel.'' Alice held up her head, squared her shoulders, and walked straight into the Royal City Hotel without giving another look at Ben.
Ben caught her up quickly. He couldn't receive a complaint from the guests. Otherwise, even though he was boss's special assistant, he would definitely be fired.
Alice had handed in her bank card and ID card at the front desk. "I want a room on the 22nd floor. Charge, please."
The receptionist swiped the card politely and returned it to Alice respectfully with her hands.
Ben was surprised that this ordinary female college student actually asked for the top luxury presidential suite on the 22nd floor.
Alice took the room card, glanced at Ben, and went straight to the elevator. Ben hurried to follow her into the elevator.
"Why are you following me?" Alice hated him for he looked down on people.
"No, no, I am going to the 22nd floor, too." Ben had changed his attitude and smiled politely.
"You are so snobbish." Alice rolled her eyes at him and ignored him.
Ben was speechless. He could not say a word but smiled at Alice.
Room 2206.
This was the only empty suite left on the 22nd floor.
Under the guidance of the attendant, Alice entered the room. She looked at the room shining with brilliant lights. She was amazed at the lavishness while feeling painful for the cost.
But she had to find the diamond ring, and the only chance to get close to the man in Room 2218 was to book a room on the 22nd floor.
Just regarded it that the man asked for a 300,000 rebate when he generously gave her the 10 million.
Thinking in this way, Alice felt much more comfortable.
The attendant's service was in place. She made the bed, filled the bathtub with water, put on some soothing and graceful piano music, poured the red wine and prepared the dessert. After that, she left the room respectfully.
Alice had no time to enjoy the top service here. She had to go out to look for Room 2218.
When she reached the door of Room 2218, her heart couldn't help beating.
What was she going to say when she met him?
If the man asked ten million dollar back, it meant that she would carry a large amount of debt. She could not give the ten million back to him intact. Her mother's medical expense in Wellbeing Hospital, and the money it required until she recovered and was discharged, added up to four million.
It was a large amount of money!
Alice looked at the golden room number, and her heart beat faster and faster. She reached out her hand and was about to knock on the door, but she hesitated for a while. She even dared not touch the door plank. She didn't have the courage to face what had happened that night.
Just then, the door opened inside.
Alice's head was down. A pair of shiny black shoes and ironed straight pants came into her view.
Her heart sank and her neck was stiff. She didn't have the strength to lift her head.
