Chapter 9 Out of Place
Delirious, Nicole shook her head and laughed at herself, "How could this happen? Impossible."
Charlie looked at her, curiously, "What do you mean?"
Charlie associated it with what just happened, thought of Tammy's viciousness, and sighed, "She used to be a cute girl. I really didn't expect such a side from her."
...
Charlie complained about what happened today.
But Nicole's mind wandered.
That man showed up at the airport, spoke those words, and looked at her like that. Why did a scum bring a peaceful feeling to her?
Because at a glance she knew that Hugh was wearing an expensive suit?
Was she influenced by Tammy and became a material girl? Or, she was originally such kind of a person?
Nicole suddenly felt very scared.
She curled up in Charlie's arms and spoke in a trembling voice, "Charlie, I need some time to think about it."
Charlie stroked her smooth hair and soothed her, "Okay, since such a thing happened, I shouldn't have brought it up."
"I was so stupid to disregard the occasion. I'm taking you home. It's okay."
Nicole nodded apologetically. Today, she was here to pick him up. In the end, he sent her home.
Home... was an empty place to her...
For seven days in a row, no one had ever come back home.
On the morning of the eighth day, however, several luxury cars drove into the neighborhood and pulled off down the building.
The atmosphere in the room became jubilant. Both the guests and hosts were happy.
Linda miraculously showed up.
Dressed in a luxurious custom-made cheongsam, she entertained Jonas and other strange men.
The presents were piling up and taking up almost half of the living room. Wrapped in red silk with embroideries, they looked festive.
After a morning run, Nicole leaned against the door for quite a while, but no one paid any attention to her.
Maybe because too many people gathered at the door to watch the scene!
"Mom..."
It was only ten steps away from the bedroom to the living room, but Tammy acted like a catwalk model.
She came out under people's gaze. Dressed in a luxurious custom-made white dress, she combed her hair into a bun and wore an expensive diamond hairpin.
Her eyes flickered, and she pursed her lips to give a proud smile.
"Tammy, you are so gorgeous today." Linda indulgently sized Tammy up and smiled, "After my daughter gets married, will she remember her mother?"
"Mom, you know how important you and dad mean to me. You are bullying me to speak like this!" Tammy acted coquettishly, held Linda's arm, and shook gently.
"See? My child hasn't grown up yet." Linda forced a smile at Jonas, "I can't bear to part with her after her marriage."
She was so emotional that the rims of her eyes turned red. Shocked, Tammy hurriedly comforted her, "I'll come back to visit you often."
What a scene...
The corner of Nicole's mouth twitched, and she awkwardly got in.
"Nicole." Seeing her return, Linda looked touched, but a flicker of crisis seemed to be flashing across her eyes. Tightly she held Tammy's hand.
Nicole stood still in front of them, pursed her lips tightly, and spoke after quite a while, "Don't worry, I'll change my clothes and go away."
Linda nodded and spoke emotionally, "Nicole, the Edwards Family is here to send the betrothal gifts today, and you should be sensible..."
Linda's tone was cautious, and there was a hint of a warning on her face.
Before Nicole could answer, Tammy spoke coquettishly, "Nicole, you will have mom by yourself. I'm so jealous that you could stay with her."
"Oh." Nicole originally wanted to say something, but now all words were meaningless.
"I'm changing my clothes and leaving right away."
Nicole felt out of place.
"Miss Young, your clothes are also prepared. According to our young master, since you are our young mistress's sister, you should join in the banquet."
Jonas somehow chipped in at the moment.
The smile on Linda's face froze, "Nicole, are you going?"
