Chapter 13 Can we let each other go?
Ruby didn't need to wait for an answer. Just by looking at Ethan, she understood everything, and then laughed: "There's no need to think about it so much. I know the answer, so can we just let each other go?"
Ruby got rid of his hand and squatted down to pick food up, but her eyes were a little red.
Initially, she was still looking forward to seeing a little bit of panic in Ethan's eyes, or maybe nostalgia for her. She thought she would probably be soft, and not divorce after a few words from him.
However, this man was too cold. She couldn't see anything in his eyes, so what else was there to ask for?
She did not even dare to ask him what the relationship between Sherry and him.
Ruby was very calm, she carried her things and entered the building, but Ethan panicked, and his body moved even faster than his brain, quickly rushing forward and blocking her path.
During the three years, Ruby had occasionally shown bad temper, he could endure it. Hearing she say the divorce, he was too uncomfortable to believe.
"Is it about your father?" Ethan asked, "I've already asked others to help you."
"No, I will solve it by myself!" Ruby interrupted him, "Our divorce has nothing to do with this."
"How do you solve it? Two million isn't a small amount." Ethan keenly felt that something was amiss.
Ruby tightly pursed her lips, and not planned to answer anymore.
Ethan approached her and said coldly: "Ruby, the marriage is what you want, as you wish. But how do you think you can decide the divorce? What do you think of me? An old luxury item you have used?"
"I don’t mean this." Ruby wanted to explain, but Ethan directly held her face and fiercely kissed.
The kiss was even fiercer than when they had kissed as if it were meant to punish her.
Ruby felt her body heating up, and her mind was a little muddled.
This seemed to be the second time Ethan kissed her other than when they were sleeping together.
Ethan kissed her deeply, only when the phone in his pocket rang. He ended the kiss because the continuous ringing. His face was dark and impatient to pick up the phone. His hand tightly captured Ruby, afraid that she would leave from him.
"What's wrong?"
"Singapore? I got it, book me an air ticket. I'll be there tomorrow morning."
Ethan was always clear—minded, he ended the call in three minutes.
When facing Ruby, Ethan was a little helpless: "I have something to do in Singapore for a week. Let's talk about the divorce when I come back."
Ruby seemed emotionless, "It's just a divorce, I've already signed it. You can sign yours."
Ethan tore the divorce settlement into pieces in front of her. Rarely did Ethan's tone soften a little, "Marriage is not the end by what you said. I also needed to consider it. Ruby, don't be so childish. "
Ruby was so angry that she started laughing.
Was he still considering it?
That's ridiculous. It’s her who married him, and it is a waste of her youth in the past three years, okay?
Ruby was going to assert her stance, but Ethan touched her head, and very naturally took the shopping bags from her, "It's been a long time since I've seen mom last time, I'll go to see her with you."
With just a few words, her heart melted and silently brought him upstairs.
Mrs. Lord was surprised to see Ethan, but for Ethan's greetings, she nodded and continued to watch the TV show.
Ethan accompanied Ruby to the kitchen to process the ingredients. Ruby cooked, he was as her assistant, and they did not talk much, as if they were living in their own home. From start to finish, no one brought up the matter of the divorce.
Ruby rented an apartment for her mother. It was one bedroom, and it was a little crowded when she moved in, of course, Ethan would not live here. Furthermore, she did not plan to keep him stay here.
After eating dinner, Ethan accompanied Ruby to watch TV, and seeing it’s late, they got up and left.
"Ruby, send me off."
"Don’t you have legs? Can't you walk?" Ruby was unhappy to get up from the sofa, if she did not, Ethan also stood there and did not leave.
Ethan was not at ease, he went downstairs and repeated: "About the divorce, we will talk about it when I come back."
