Chapter 4 She Slept with the President
After finishing her breakfast, Mary Miller stayed in the dining room and dared not go out. She impulsively jumped into the sea on the previous day and had not taken her phone or purse with her. Currently, she had no idea what she could do next. The handsome man she met earlier was obviously the owner of the cruise ship. However, she was too shy to go to him with all these questions because of what had happened last night.
The more Mary thought about it, the more uneasy she became. "Has Uncle Frank found out that I jumped into the sea? Is he looking for me?"
She paced up and down in the room with an anxious expression on her face. At the same time, Mike Johnson was watching her from the monitoring computer with a smile, a glass of wine in his hand.
Just as Mary was lost in her thoughts, the sound of a horn reached her ears.
The cruise ship was docking.
Mary immediately walked out of the room, and Mike also got out of the other room.
On seeing the man, Mary nervously took a step back. She had no idea how to face the male who she had slept with for one night.
Mike fixed his deep-set eyes on the girl's nervous hands, which were twisting the hem of her dress, took one of them, and said in an irresistible tone, "What are you waiting? Follow me."
The man's assistant said obediently, "Young Master Mike, this way, please."
Mary followed him up with one hand in his palm.
They walked down the gangway and landed on the ground.
In an instant, a group of journalists showed up and besieged Mike and Mary with various cameras.
"Mr. Johnson, are you the new president of the Johnson Group?"
"Mr. Johnson, is it true that the older master of the Johnson Family has died and left the business empire to you?"
"Mr. Johnson, rumors say that you are an illegitimate child of the older master of the Johnson family. Do you have any response to them?"
The journalists focused their cameras at Mike, kept pressing the shutter, and reached their microphones out to him.
Hank hurried to instruct two bodyguards to protect their boss from being disturbed by the reporters.
Taking advantage of the chaos, Mary broke away from Mike's hand and walked through the crowd.
The man immediately noticed that Mary had loosened her hand and turned to look for her figure.
After getting out of the crowded journalists, Mary looked back at the people and let out a naughty smile.
She ran away without hesitation.
Looking at her departing back, Mike curled up his pretty lips into an elegant arc.
"Woman, how dare you escape like this?"
Of course, Mary had to leave. Judging from the numerous reporters' enthusiasm and that they addressed the man as the president of the Johnson Group, the woman concluded that he must be some big shot.
While walking, Mary thought, "So, that means I've slept with the president of a big enterprise?"
As she had no money on her, Mary had to run back to her uncle's place, which was quite far away from where she was at this moment.
Inside a yellow Lamborghini, someone pointed at Mary, who was trotting on one side of the road. "Mr. Carter, see, the woman you are looking for is over there."
Eric Carter rolled down the car window and looked at the woman in a white dress, thinking, "It is her. She has not drowned in the sea."
"Mr. Carter, do you want us to catch her back?"
"No need. She must be going home. Let's go directly to her house."
It took Mary more than an hour to get home.
The servant downstairs was surprised to see her. "Miss Miller, you are back."
Mary nodded at her.
She then rushed upstairs. "Uncle Frank, Uncle Frank."
In the entire family, only her uncle truly cared about her.
The woman rushed into the living room and saw that there were quite a few people.
"Mary, you're back." However, only Frank Wood was concerned with her life or death.
Mary pointed at Eric, who was sitting on the sofa with his legs crossed, asking, "Uncle Frank, why is he here?" She then moved her gaze upon Mia Wood, who dared not look Mary into her eyes.
At this moment, Anna Lee, Mary's aunt, said in a thin and high voice, "Mary, your good days are coming. Mr. Carter is here asking your uncle for permission to marry you. You are going to become a member of the Carter Family."
