Chapter 17 It Is Nice to Finally Meet You

After Maggie Jane had left, Mary Miller put her resume, identification, and diplomas in her handbag and planned to go out for the job interview.

Seeing that the woman was leaving with her bag, one maid asked, "Miss Miller, where are you going?"

Mary told her that she was going out for some business, and the maid then offered to arrange her a vehicle and a driver.

Obviously, Mary could out accept the arrangement.

"No need. I'll be fine on my own. Please don't worry, and I will come back soon," Mary said while walking outward.

The maid hurried to say, "Miss Miller, could you please wait for a moment? I'll ask Mr. Johnson for his opinion."

Smiling and shaking the cell phone in her hand, Mary did not stop. "I'll call him. No worries. See you around then."

Mary successfully got out of the villa, and she had no intention to inform Mike Johnson of her schedule.

In fact, she even did not have the man's number.

It was rare to see a taxi in this luxurious neighborhood. Therefore, Mary used Uber and smoothly arrived at the company.

She told the receptionist that she was here for an interview, and then someone led her to a meeting room.

The manager of the company would be the interviewer.

"Hi, Sir. I am Mary Miller, and here is my resume."

The manager lifted his head and beamed with joy. "Mary, it's you!"

"Roger!" The man was a senior of Mary at university. Neither of them had expected to see each on this occasion.

What a coincidence that Roger Martin was the manager!

"Mary, I finally met you. Do you know that I looked for you after you graduated? It's magical to meet you here."

The young man was thrilled to see Mary, holding her hand tightly. "It's great to see you again."

The interview went on smoothly, and Roger guaranteed the woman the best wage and treatment a new employee could be given in this company and told her to start the work from the following day.

As an individual with no work experience, Mary was satisfied with the salary, which was 5,000 yuan for the probation and 8,000 yuan afterward. Besides, the position she obtained had a promising development prospect.

In fact, Roger liked Mary a lot when they were both in college. He was only two years older than the woman and was already a manager, from which one could conclude that he was a capable young man.

Roger looked at the time. As it was 11:30 a.m., he suggested, "Mary, please allow me to treat you to lunch."

They used to hang out frequently at university. Therefore, Mary nodded at the offer pleasantly.

The lunch lasted two hours. Mary and Roger had a nice chat mainly about those carefree, happy days in college.

The man reluctantly said goodbye to the woman when it was time to get back to the workplace. He had not met Mary for over a year, and she was still stunningly beautiful.

He suggested, "Mary, why don't you come to the company with me so that you can get familiar with the environment? You will directly start to work tomorrow."

"Is that proper?"

"Sure, it is. You're joining us soon. Come on."

Mary initially had no appointment in the afternoon. Therefore, she followed the man back to the workplace.

It was not a huge company. Mary had no work experience before, so only an enterprise with such a scale replied to her application letter.

Roger led Mary to the finance department, where the woman would work for, introducing her to those employees as a new colleague who would officially join the crew from the next day.

Most of Mary's prospective colleagues were young women around her age, who would probably be easy to get along with.

Mary revealed a friendly smile at them. She had always been quite good and confident in terms of interpersonal communication.

Roger then introduced everyone else to Mary, and the atmosphere in the office was quite pleasant.

Mike Johnson finished his work at 5: 00 p.m. Several business partners expressed their wish to invite him to dinner. Somehow, Mike only wanted to go back home and thus refused all of them.

He turned off the computer, picked up his suit jacket, walked out of his office, and entered the lift, calling Hank Cook to get the car ready.

At this moment, Hank was reading a document. After receiving the call, he thought to himself, "What's going on? Why is Mr. Johnson in such a hurry to go home today?"
