Chapter 6 Humiliation

Unexpectedly, after having taken just two steps, Abigail heard George say, "Director White, wait for a moment."

At the words, the woman froze, and her heart had jumped to her throat when everyone else, including Julia, the secretary of the man, walked away.

And the secretary slammed the door to the conference room shut.

Without waiting for Abigail's reaction, George got up from the primary seat while the door was closed, roughly imprisoning the woman between his arms and the wall.

The files in Abigail's hand scattered all over the floor.

The flash drive also fell to her feet.

The man reached one hand out to pinch the woman's jaw and forced her to lift her head, asking, "What exactly is your purpose in joining the company?"

Abigail's delicate, tender face came into his sight.

In fear, her face turned pale, her thick, long eyelashes trembling. She looked like a frightened, pitiful kitten.

As her jaw was pinched by the man's fingers, her reddish lips were forced to separate from each other.

Upon seeing the tip of her tongue looming over, the rhythm of George's breathing got disrupted, and he felt even more agitated.

Abigail felt that her jaw was going to be crumbed.

"President Gates, will you please let go of me before I say anything?" Abigail widened her eyes open in annoyance, feeling somewhat irritated.

For a moment, George wanted nothing but to cover the woman's eyes with his hands.

"Let go of you?" He scoffed. "Abigail, you've used Grandpa to enter the company. Didn't you do that because you wanted me to touch you?"

George thought, "The woman should know that I even wanted to kill her on that day. How dare she appear in the office instead of getting out of my way? I've never seen a more shameful woman than her!"

Abigail was seething with rage.

What a horrible man George was to insult the woman like this!

"You're going too far, President Gates. We're now in a conference room. Aren't you afraid of being seen by others and having your status smeared?"

Abigail especially accentuated the word "status."

"What am I afraid of? I think you're the one who should be scared. If everyone else in the company knows that you'd drugged me and shamelessly begged me to fuck you, how do you think they would regard you?" The man put it in a light tone of voice, but there were traces of cruelty in his smiling eyes.

At the same time, with the fragrance of the woman drifting into his nostrils, his abdomen felt hot from time to time.

"You!" Abigail was furious. However, there was nothing she could do about the man.

Just as George smugly thought that he had got the upper hand of the situation, he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his left foot.

Abigail stepped on the back of his foot with one of her thick, sharp heels.

"Abigail!" George had not expected the woman, who had always behaved obediently to stomp on him out of the blue. He called her name angrily, the expression on his face becoming colder.

Abigail took advantage of the man's laxity to free herself from his grip and nimbly bent down to get out from under his arm. "President Gates, here is a piece of advice for you, women don't just wear high heels to look pretty. They can also use them to fight hooligans at critical moments."

"The only reason I'm working here is that Grandpa has arranged so. If you don't want to see me around, tell Grandpa by yourself, and don't take your discontent out on me!"

She thought to herself, "Coward. Dare you challenge Grandpa's decision?"

With that, she directly left the conference room without picking the scattered documents nor looking back.

Anyway, she had a digital version of those files and could always print them out if she pleased.

George stared at the woman's departing back, and the gloom in his eyes was going to spill out of his deep-set eye sockets.

Abigail went straight back to the mansion of the Gates Family and thought that George would not return.

However, when she got out of the metro and was waiting for a bus, she happened to see George's limited-edition Aston Martin.

Therefore, when she was home, she knew that George was in the house. She hesitated to change into her slippers and cautiously asked Mrs. March, the servant, "Is George inside?"

Mrs. March beamed with joy, answering in an excited voice, "Yes, Mr. Gates is inside. It's rare for him to come back, so you must seize the opportunity."

Over almost three years since George and Abigail had got married, he had never come home. Half a month ago, Grandfather Oliver faked his illness to lure him back. However, the drugging event made George furious. Abigail positively thought that he would never come back again. The fact had proved her wrong and startled her.
