Chapter 8 Who Says So?

At the words, Abigail, who had just taken a sip of soup, spewed it out all over George's face as the man was sitting opposite her.

George furrowed his brows deeply.

Though Abigail and George had been married for more than two years, their marriage had been kept as a secret. Since no one knew that he had a wife, who would ridicule him for being impotent then?

Abigail choked on the soup and coughed violently, wiping her mouth with a piece of tissue, and her face blushed all over.

George stayed motionless though there was soup all over his face. He stared at the woman with a gloomy look in his eyes. Feeling scared, the woman took out another tissue and apologetically handed it over to the man, her hand trembling.

The man did not take the tissue until the woman had felt a soreness in her arm.

Abigail secretly breathed a sigh of relief and withdrew her hand, curling up her lips into a smile again as she turned to Oliver. "Grandpa, it takes time to make a baby, and it needs the conditions to become ripe."

For fear that George would misunderstand what she was saying, Abigail paused for a second and then continued, "Grandpa, I remember that you've said you will respect my opinion."

At Abigail's gentle grumble, Oliver frozen for a second, narrowing his eyes somewhat unhappily as he did not know how to reply to the woman.

Abigail kept smiling, wearing an innocent and bright expression.

"I did say that I would respect your opinion, but you have to respect mine vice versa, right?" After pondering for a moment, Oliver retorted with a grave expression.

Abigail then became speechless, temporarily not knowing how to answer.

In fact, Oliver had been respecting her thoughts over almost three years, and it was not an easy thing for an elder.

Helplessly, she gave a sidelong glance at George and signaled him to help.

That apartment belonged to George. If he insisted that he would not like Abigail to move in, Oliver should have to give in at last.

However, George, who should have been more eager to convince Oliver than Abigail, kept silent at such a critical moment.

Abigail initially thought that George had not caught her eye signal and thus anxiously kicked him with her foot under the table.

George remained impassive. Just as Oliver was about to have the final say, he looked at Abigail with an ambiguous look in his eyes and said to the older man, "Grandpa, who says I am impotent?"

"Why don't you ask her if I am impotent or not?"

"Besides, since when has the Gates Family began to care about other people's opinions?"

He put forward three questions in a row and forced the words in the older man's mouth back to his stomach.

With no other option, Oliver acted in a slick manner by saying, "I've started to care about other people's opinions from today. Anything wrong with that?"

Though neither George nor Abigail was in a hurry to give birth to a child, Oliver was.

It had been almost three years, and the relationship between the couple had not advanced in the least. Oliver was so anxious that he had been feeling unwell at the thought of this.

Besides, he was getting older and older. How many years were left for him to wait?

Oliver turned to look at Abigail, who was eating in silence, and his chest felt tight.

George suddenly let out a smile. "Grandpa, you're being a worrywart. It's actually fine, but you shall not behave absurdly."

He had found out that it was Oliver who had drugged him last time.

The motive of Oliver might be kind, he had gone too far. George thought, "He should know that I've been thinking about Tina all the time."

At the thought of Tina Grey, the smile on George's face disappeared.

Oliver felt slightly embarrassed by the revelation, but the embarrassment only lasted for two seconds. To achieve his aim, he put his point in a different way, "You are the only child in your generation of the Gates Family. If you don't give me a great-grandchild, who will? I'm telling you, if you don't make a baby for the family soon, I'll shut down the Gates Group and donate my entire fortune..."

To carry on the family line, Oliver had been ready to risk everything. Abigail, who had been eating quietly, looked up to see the grave expression on George's face.

She put down her chopsticks.

Silence reigned in the room.

Seeing that his threat was working, Oliver contentedly picked up a piece of beef and sent it to his mouth.
