Chapter 12 Are You Saying that Chairman Gates Is that Useless?
It was highly possible that George's problem was still there, and that the drug had just helped him temporarily surmounting it that night.
With his eyes narrowed, George asked, "Do you think there's any chance that I'll recover?"
"It's still hard to say." After recording, Sophie folded the file. "We haven't found the cause of your problem for so long. But once you begin to respond to women other than Abigail, you'll be considered fully recovered."
Since Tina had left, George had never touched any woman. Those who did not know the truth might think that he still could not get rid of Tina's influence on him.
"What if she is the only one?"
"Then maybe there's something about her that irritates you," said Sophie. Noticing that the man's expression was becoming gloomy, she hurried to add, "Don't get mad, I'm just guessing. If you want an answer, you'll have to find someone to try it out."
"Try it out?" George furrowed his brows even more tightly, pondering on the method.
...
On the other hand, Abigail had arrived at the company.
The moment she stepped into the office, she sensed her colleagues' hostility against her.
She suddenly recalled that George asked her to think what the others would think about her if they came to know what had happened between him and her.
"Do you know that Abigail and President Gates stayed in the conference room for a good while after the meeting yesterday?"
"Gosh. Wasn't she put in that position by Oliver Gates? What's her relationship with President Gates then? That woman is a coquette but always puts on that innocent expression. How disgusting she is!"
In the break room, two female colleagues were gossiping about Abigail, sarcastically yet jealously.
One of the women suggested, "Well, let's not talk about this. It'll be bad if she hears us."
The other woman grunted heavily, saying, "Why do we have to be so cautious? I'll say it out aloud even in front of her. It's not me who has made her a slut."
At the words, another woman pushed the door open and entered the room.
The two looked back to see Abigail and immediately felt extraordinarily embarrassed.
"Director White. Ouch!" The woman, who had claimed to say what she had spoken aloud in front of Abigail, turned pale. The cup of tea in her hand tilted, and some hot water spilled out upon the back of her hand, scalding her to gasp.
Abigail calmly walked over to the woman and landed her eyes on her name tag, revealing a smirk. "Kate Turner?"
Her voice was light, but the look in her eyes was sharp.
Kate's back went cold when she saw the expression on Abigail's face, and her face was as white as a sheet. She was about to apologize when Abigail actually took out a tissue and wiped the water off the back of her hand.
Abigail's movement was gentle, but Kate felt cold all over as if she had been placed into a refrigeration house
"Director White..." Kate's heart was pounding violently, and her nerves could not relax a little till Abigail withdrew the hand.
"You should have listened to your friend and stop gossiping about me. However, you didn't and even said that you would say it out loud in front of me. You know what? President Gates and I spent less than ten minutes in the conference room yesterday. So, are you suggesting that he is that useless?" Abigail said in a joking tone, kindly picked up Kate's cup, and put it on the table.
At her words, the sensation of panic filled Kate's eyes. She wanted to explain, but Abigail turned and left, leaving her only a graceful back.
As soon as Abigail disappeared in the doorway, the two women went weak in the knees and simultaneously sat in the chairs, their hearts palpitating.
