Chapter 13 Harassment
Abigail's so-called hook-up with George soon became widely known in the company in the morning. Abigail wisely chose to turn a deaf ear to all those rumors and focused on her duties.
George did not show up at the office, and Abigail did not pay any attention to that. But when she heard that Lily, who had just been demoted from the director to the director's assistant, had got fired, she was quite surprised.
Upon receiving the notice, Lily glared at Abigail resentfully.
Abigail thought that Lily's resentment against her was utterly ridiculous. To express her attitude, before Lily was leaving, Abigail walked over to her and patted the woman on the shoulder, saying with a smile, "See you." At her words, Lily widened her eyes in anger and almost hit Abigail right in the office.
When the other colleagues persuaded Lily to calm down, Abigail walked back to her office as if nothing had happened.
In fact, Abigail had never been a softie. She had married George and restricted herself to the Gates Family only because Oliver had made a promise to her.
Lily's departure was so sudden that there left no time for Abigail to recruit a new assistant. Therefore, she had to deal with Lily's work on this day. Luckily, due to the event, no one dared to gossip about Abigail and George anymore.
When she finished her duties, it was almost 9 p.m., and she was the only one left in the office.
After turning off the computer, she went to the break room to fill a cup of water. Feeling so tired, she decided to take a nap before leaving. Unexpectedly, she fell asleep and lost track of time.
"Abigail, Abigail..."
A goatish voice sounded suddenly.
Abigail opened her eyes slowly and found the office was dark. In fact, someone had turned off all the lights on this floor. Upon seeing the vague figure in front of her, the woman became sober in an instant.
"Who is it?" Abigail grabbed her cell phone to lighten her sight. However, before she could unlock it, the man slapped it down.
"Director White, I'm Jacob. I helped you copy some documents this afternoon. Do you remember?" While speaking, the man took two steps closer to Abigail. The woman noticed his lustful, narrowed eyes were sweeping over her chest under moonlight coming through behind him.
"What do you want to do?" Abigail's heartbeat fastened, and she hurried to pick her phone up and take a step back.
Fear came over her.
"I've become fascinated by you from the first moment I saw you. Be my girlfriend, will you?" Jacob Hall's eyes grew nastier, and his hands were ready to reach the woman.
Abigail, angry and scared, took a few more steps back. "But I don't like you."
Jacob appeared to be ingenuous and hard-working, and he did not talk much to female colleagues at ordinary times. However, he was actually such a man.
"That's okay. You'll like me when we're together. No worries, I will love you as much as I can if you and I..."
"But I am married."
Unfortunately, the new high heels Abigail had worn the day before had frazzled her feet. Thus, she was wearing a pair of flatties and could not attack the man before her eyes in the way she did to George.
Tamping down the horror in her heart, she quietly moved towards the door to the office.
"You're married? Then why have you flirted with President Gates? Why cannot you be with me? You're a bitch who only pays attention to money!"
Jacob's facial features were contorted in anger at the woman's words. He grabbed her by the hair and dragged her to move in the opposite direction.
Abigail felt that her scalp was being torn off, and her grip on the phone tightened in pain.
And her resentment against George inevitably rose.
"Get off me." She was horrified.
Jacob pressed Abigail on the floor, saying with a ferocious smile, "You're so fucking beautiful. You know what? I dreamed about you every night. Finally, I can taste you for real. How can I let go of you?"
