Chapter 20 Jane and Ethan
Abigail was not a fan of makeup and had never worn any cosmetics while meeting up with Jane before. Therefore, the foundation upon her cheek easily drew Jane's attention.
"Tell me, is it from that bitch?" Jane looked gloomy and not like a classy lady as she appeared to be earlier.
Abigail had to tell the gist of what had happened to Jane and then tried to change the subject after taking a sip of warm water. "I'd like to go back to the Grey Family sometime."
Paul was coming back from studying abroad, so she wanted to go back.
"Why? To provide Meg Grey with the chance to bully you?" Jane was furious. She knew that Meg used to bully Abigail all the time when the latter lived in the Grey Family. That woman was simply a wicked witch.
"You didn't want to marry George. It was Grandfather Oliver who had selected you. No matter how aggrieved that woman felt and how jealous she was, she shouldn't take her fury out on you. How awful she is! By the way, did you slap her back?"
"Sure. Twice." Abigail tilted her head and revealed a bright smile, saying, "I don't owe anything to the Grey Family nor Meg."
She had paid off what she owed Mrs. Grey for those years when she was in the Grey Family. As far that scar of Meg's, she had paid it off with one of her own. If there was anyone to whom she did feel indebted, that was Grandfather Oliver.
At her words, Jane let out a smile in relief. "Oh, you're finally getting the hang of not being a silly bunny."
If she were not the daughter of the mayor of City A, she must have avenged Abigail and would have left at least two bloody marks on Meg's face to relieve her anger. In fact, before Jane got married, every time Meg bullied Abigail, she would do something to get back at Meg.
"Thank you very much, Miss Scott. Have some tiramisu. It's your favorite." Abigail enjoyed having Jane around as she had a bright personality. She dug a spoon of cake and fed it to her, asking, "Why did you want to see me today?"
Ever since Jane got married, the frequency of their meeting had decreased a lot.
"The same thing as the last time..."
Jane felt that she had snubbed Abigail and narrowed her eyes in embarrassment. She got some cake for herself while speaking. Before sending it to her mouth, however, she heard a familiar step approaching. She instantly straightened up and put on a tender, graceful expression.
"It's too sweet and high in calories, so I'll just taste a little."
She put some of the cake she had dug back to the plate and ate only a little bit. After putting the spoon down, she drew a paper towel and wiped the corners of her mouth extremely elegantly.
In less than a second, Jane became another woman. If she had taken her eyes off the cake for a second, one would literally think that she did not like tiramisu at all and that she had tasted it only for the sake of Abigail.
Abigail felt sorry for her friend's performance but was helpless.
No matter how angry or excited Jane was, she could always turn into a gentle lady when she saw Ethan Walker.
In the next moment, Ethan appeared in front of their table.
He was in an Armani suit, a white shirt, and a blue tie. His delicate facial features were giving off a tender vibe. Different from George, who was standoffish and aloof, Ethan was a warm man, whose voice was gentle, and his smile was warm.
Otherwise, Jane would not have fallen in love with him and changed herself for him. As members of the Walker Family were all intellectuals, who liked a girl to behave elegantly and decently, Jane had been trying hard to please Ethan and his family.
