Chapter 21 A Visit
Seeing her smart, free friend change herself for love, Abigail did not know whether she should feel sorry for her or admire her.
After casting a gentle glance at Jane, Ethan turned to greet the other woman, "Hi, Abigail."
Abigail smiled. Noticing that Jane was winking at her, she asked, "Did you come here to pick up Jane?"
"Yes," Ethan answered and then looked at Jane. "Are we leaving now, or?"
"Let's go now." Jane hid the smirk in her eyes and got up gracefully.
Ethan naturally took Jane's bag in his hand.
After saying goodbye to Abigail, Ethan and Jane left. On their way out, Jane's eyes frequently switched between Ethan's face and the road, and her love for the man was clearly written in those eyes.
Ethan seemed to be polite and gentle to every woman. If it were not for the fact that he looked at Jane with extra tenderness and affection in his eyes, Abigail would not think that his wife was anything special to him.
Seeing the two get into the car and drive away through the glass wall, Abigail somehow felt gloomy.
She could see herself in Jane.
Paul was Ethan to Abigail.
Feeling too low to eat alone, Abigail went over to the checkout counter. The cashier told her that Ethan had paid the bill. She left the restaurant for a cell phone store and bought a cost-effective one. Then, she went to the hospital.
She had taken some pills in the morning, but her stomach was still aching. As she had witnessed her own mother being tortured by illness before she died, Abigail had been caring about her health a lot. However, she somehow got a stomach illness when she was in the Grey Family.
The hospital she visited was one of the best in the city, and there was a long queue of patients.
When Sophie passed by, she happened to see her.
Sophie thought she was blurry-eyed and took a few steps forward before she was sure it was Abigail.
"Doctor Lawrence, Mr. Gates wants to see you." At this moment, a nurse ran over to Sophie.
Sophie thanked the nurse and headed towards the ward where George was.
Tina was in the VIP ward of this hospital.
Sophie was not only a brilliant psychiatrist but also an authoritative expert in the brain neurology. Being a counselor was just her hobby.
Entering the ward, she saw George sitting on the edge of the bed, and there were dense emotions in his eyes, which were staring at the woman lying on the bed.
Upon hearing the footsteps, George looked back at Sophie and then moved her eyes back on Tina.
"How is the result?" George held the woman's hand, both wanting to know the outcome and fearing to know.
The woman sleeping in the bed was beautiful, and her complexion was bloodless due to not seeing daylight for several years and the incandescent light. She was as fragile as if she would disappear from the world at any moment.
As she had been taken good care of, her hands were as normal as those of a normal person, except for their coldness. They had not shrunk from lack of activity, and her fingers were slender and pale.
Sophie answered truthfully, "Still the same. But don't be discouraged, as long as her bodily functions are not in trouble, there is still hope."
Three years ago, Tina had a car accident. Though her life had been saved, she had entered a vegetative state. Three years later, there was still no one who could verdict whether a miracle would happen to her or not.
George sighed helplessly and put Tina's hand back under the covers, looking deep into her sleeping face until his phone vibrated.
Sophie lowered her head to look at Tina's examination report.
George had just hung up when the servant of the Grey Family came in.
"Mr. Gates, you're here again." The servant greeted George respectfully.
