Chapter 22 Obstetrics and Gynaecology
George nodded his head, looked at the doorway, and asked with a frown, "You're here alone?"
The servant looked embarrassed and answered with a smile, "Mr. Grey is abroad for business and Mrs. Grey followed him. Miss Abigail is also busy..."
Busy? It was just an excuse!
In the first two months after Tina's accident, her relatives visited the hospital quite frequently. As the hope of her waking up growing slimmer and slimmer, even Mrs. Grey rarely showed up, not to mention the others.
The servant, of course, had to make an excuse for them.
George's expression was gloomy, but as it was the Grey Family's domestic affair, he did not make a comment. After telling the servant to take good care of Tina, he turned to leave.
The servant arrived at the sickbed to massage Tina and suddenly thought of something. She quickly got up and said to George, "Oh right. It will be Miss Tina's birthday on the second day of the next month. Mrs. Grey has asked me to invite you to visit the Grey Family together with Miss Abigail."
Though Tina had become a vegetable, Mrs. Grey had celebrated Tina's birthday every year at the Grey Family. George used to go alone, and the Grey Family had never invited Abigail.
George narrowed his eyes and thought of Abigail. Immediately, a trace of gloom flashed across his face.
"I see," George answered and then stepped out of the ward. Unexpectedly, Sophie followed him out.
He asked while walking, "Anything else?"
Since Sophie had seen Abigail earlier in the hospital, her curiosity had been expanding. Therefore, she asked George with interest, "Have you tried that with her?"
George paused his pace for a second, and Sophie nearly knocked into him. His expression clearly told her that the answer was negative. Sophie then put forward another question, "By the way, did you wear a condom that night?"
The gloom over George's face was striking.
Sophie shrugged and put on a solemn expression. "I'm asking this for your own good. If you don't like Abigail, you need to take safety measures. Just in case, you know. Oh right, I've seen Abigail earlier..."
George set his lips into a grim line.
Abigail? What was she doing here in the hospital?
Witnessing the changes in the man's face, Sophie revealed a naughty smile. "She was on the first floor, outside the Obstetrics and Gynaecology."
George clenched his fists, furrowed his brows, and narrowed his eyes. "Mind your own business."
With that, he turned and left.
Sophie pouted her mouth and asked aloud, "Do you want me to figure out what's going on for you?"
The woman thought, "What if Abigail is pregnant?" Then, she giggled and wondered what George would respond to that situation.
George kept walking forward as if he did not hear Sophie's question. Knowing that the man would not answer her, Sophie gently patted the medical records in hand.
...
After getting out of the hospital, George slowed his pace and hesitated to make a call to the villa.
He knew that his grandfather had left and thus there should be only Mrs. March and Abigail in the house.
As soon as Mrs. March answered the phone, George asked, "Is Abigail home?"
"Abigail went out in the morning and hasn't come back yet." Mrs. March answered, thinking about the happenings to Abigail over the last two days, and added in a gentle voice, "She had been bullied yesterday once again, and there was a long mark in her cheek. Could you arrange someone to protect her?"
Mrs. March meant good to Abigail, but she had no idea that the delicate girl in her mouth had actually slapped George in the face indiscriminately.
