Chapter 23 Get off Me!
George was still feeling irritated.
"She is not as weak as you think, and there is nothing for us to worry about." He hung out and walked over to his car. However, he eventually called Julia and asked her to arrange someone to protect Abigail in secret.
No matter how much he hated Abigail, she was his wife and a member of the Gates Family, and he had to protect her.
Thinking in this way, he felt better.
...
On the other hand, Abigail paid the bill for a bunch of medication, went to the supermarket, bought a large bag of stuff, and then returned to the villa.
She and Oliver liked different food. At ordinary times, she had to put up with the older man's taste. As he had gone to travel, Abigail decided to make several dishes for herself.
She appeared in the doorway in a relaxed state.
Mrs. March hurried to take the bags from her hands. Seeing that Abigail was smiling, she also beamed with joy, "What have you bought?"
Abigail changed her shoes, let out a cheerful smile, and even winked at Mrs. March. "Some ingredients and snacks. I'll cook this evening."
While she was at the Grey Family, she had begun to help in the kitchen since she was ten years old and had obtained nice cooking abilities from the cook for the Greys. Abigail thought cooking was relaxing and healing, and thus she enjoyed making dishes by herself.
Abigail had married into the Gates Family, and Mrs. March had become quite familiar with her habits. Therefore, Mrs. March left the kitchen to her.
Soon, Abigail's singing sounded in the kitchen.
She was wearing a fresh and elegant blue apron with flowers on a white background, her slender, pale fingers were skilfully dancing with the ingredients, and her nails were clean and pinkish, looking adorable.
She was going to make Sweet and Sour Pork Ribs, which she had coveted for long.
She added some water in the pot, covered it with the lid, and then put the ribs down to remove the blood when the water was boiling.
"Never mind, I'll find someone like you..."
Standing at the gate of the house, George heard the woman's melodious voice. He walked over to the kitchen and saw Abigail being busy inside.
George was surprised that she could cook.
Being immersed in her own emotions, Abigail did not realize that George was standing behind her. While cutting the ginger, the power in the house suddenly gone, Abigail accidentally hurt her finger.
She screamed in shock. The knife fell to the floor, nearly cutting her toe.
Seeing that blood was bleeding down her finger, Abigail hurried to put it into her mouth. She called Mrs. March for help, but no one answered her. She then planned to pick the knife up by herself.
All of a sudden, she heard steady, energetic footsteps approaching.
Abigail abruptly made a turn. Before she could see who that was, the man grabbed her wrist, and the woman bumped into his broad, sturdy chest.
The smell of masculinity and faint tobacco came to her face.
She was startled for a moment and pushed her hands against the chest. Instead of pushing the man away, the wound in her finger began to bleed again. She gasped and retracted her hand reflexively.
In the darkness, the man grabbed her hand, and the woman felt his force was huge enough to crush her bones.
Abigail trembled in pain. With a frosty look in her eyes, she shouted out angrily, "Get off me!"
Her bones were going to break into pieces!
The man ignored her and did not reduce his force in the least. Under the dim light, his pupils looked like the mysterious, stary sky, and Abigail's heart suddenly began to pound violently.
