Chapter 15 It Is Not What You Imagine

Her story wasn't good at all. It was tedious as hell. So, it didn't take long for the little guy's breathing to become steady and even. Then he fell asleep.

Jenny lay down for a little while. She couldn't sleep, so she got up.

Some of the information she'd compiled during the day from the dossier wasn't quite perfect, and she needed to check the information further. If she remembered it correctly, there were some law-related books on Sean's bookshelf.

Jenny tiptoed out of the room. She didn't even turn on the light for fear of disturbing the man next door. She was like a cat without her shoes. She tiptoed out of the room quietly and groped her way forward in the dark corridor by memory.

After only a few steps, she suddenly bumped into something.

She touched the tip of her nose.

What was it?

Plainly she remembered that there was nothing but walls in this hallway...

Jenny froze and touched it. She instantly freaked out with cold sweat on her back. It was a man!

"Ah!"

Jenny began to scream and subconsciously shrunk into a tight corner. She had already brainstormed all sorts of burglaries, backroom murders, terrorist invasions, and midnight paranormal events...

One was scarier than the other.

Her mind was blank, and all she could think about was that she was only twenty-five and she hadn't yet overturned the judgment for her father. She hadn't yet achieved anything productive or even a proper relationship. She couldn't just die young...

Mrs. Wayne, the housekeeper downstairs, heard her scream. She ran upstairs and quickly turned on all the lights in the house.

Jenny had her eyes closed. Even though she had felt the lights around her, she still didn't dare open her eyes.

There was dead silence around her.

A man's voice was heard, "Will you let go of me now?"

That voice was familiar...

Sean Roger?

Jenny slowly opened her eyes. The man's face was close to her.

But she...

It wasn't a corner that she hid in just now. But it was Sean's arms.

As for the inexplicable object she had hit...it was, of course, Sean Roger himself.

So now, Mrs. Wayne, along with Donny, Eason, and several of maids and babysitters, was surprised to see her, wearing only a strappy nightgown. She was nestling in the arms of Sean, who was also wearing a nightgown.

It... felt as if it was a more frightening scenario than any other occurring to her just now.

Of all these people, Donny was the most discerning. He was the first to recognize it and said, "So... it's Mr. Roger and Mrs. Roger playing around. It's alright. I was just passing by. Go, go..."

He said and pretended to yawn, "Oh, I'm so sleepy. I'm sleepy and feel dizzy. We didn't see anything. You go on..."

Jenny was at a loss for words. She was trying to say that it was not what they thought!

All these people in the family knew who Jenny was, and she was already Mr. Roger's woman. As long as Mr. Roger was happy, she could do whatever she wanted in the house.

When Donny said so, everyone immediately dispersed and went to sleep.

Sean's gaze fell on some part of her.

He'd just been bumped by her in the dark, and although there were two thin layers of pajamas, the feel of the body was clear.

He licked his lips.

This woman...actually had big boobs!

Jenny took two steps back and coughed awkwardly, "Well...Mr. Roger, I just..."

Sean came back to his senses.

"Why don't you turn on the lights?"

Jenny seemed very pitiful, "I... I was afraid I'd disturb you..."

He had come home too early to sleep, too. So, he wanted to deal with some business in the study and read a few more reports. He knew his own house well enough to leave the light off so as not to disturb Donny and the others, and so as not to have them tell him to rest on time.

He didn't expect the situation today and forgot that there was a woman in the house.

What was more, this woman was the same as him, not turning on the light in the middle of the night to grope to the study.

Well...

He suddenly wanted to laugh though.

It looked like they were really made for each other.

Sean didn't give her a hard time and turned back to his room, "I'm in no hurry. You can use the study. Don't stay up too late."

"Thanks."

Jenny finished checking out the information in the study and got all the papers she needed ready. She left Roger's villa early the next morning and headed straight for the detention house.

She had called ahead to make an appointment to see her father.

According to the rule, the opportunity for suspects to meet family members was limited. It hadn't been the required time yet, and as a daughter, she couldn't visit her dad yet.

However, she was also an attorney. In the period of waiting for the review, the suspect had the right to file an appeal, and meeting with an attorney was also necessary.

She hadn't been home for several years, and the last time she saw her dad was several years ago.

If she had known this was going to happen, she would have made a few more trips home in the intervening years, so at least she would have got time to spend with her dad. Maybe then she would have learned a little more about what was going on at home and her dad would not have been in the situation now.

If she couldn't overturn the judgment, it would be a regret she could never mend!

She arrived at the detention house early in the morning with an apprehensive feeling. After waiting outside for over an hour, she was able to see her dad.

Her dad was significantly older than a few years ago. It looked as if he had aged a dozen years all of a sudden.

He was wearing a red vest symbolizing crime, handcuffs, and heavy shackles, and he slowly stepped out.

The once broad, solid shoulders were rickety, and the hand that had taken her hand in the children's playground was like a withered branch. The furrows on his forehead and face were symbols of hard times she couldn't imagine.

Although he acted calmly, the moment he saw his daughter, he was still in tears.

"Daddy..."

Jenny was also sobbing. The staff member next to her looked at his watch, "If you have something to say, hurry up and say it. You'll only have twenty minutes!"

Jenny was choked. But as a lawyer, she remembered who she was.

She took out her paper and pen, "Dad, I have a serious question for you today as an attorney. Tell me the truth please. Have you been wrongly accused?"
