Chapter 16 Everyone Will Die

Jenny looked at him steadily, "Dad, don't worry. I'm a lawyer, and if you have any grievances, you must tell me. I'll help you overturn the judgment!"

Mason was thoughtful. He looked at his daughter, who had grown into a big girl now.

According to the way she took out her pen and paper and the tone of her questioning, she looked like a mature professional lawyer.

That was enough.

He was comforted.

Instead of answering his daughter's question directly, he said, "Jenny, there are many things in this world that can't be solved by the law, and there aren't that many rights and wrongs. You will gradually understand it later."

He neither admitted nor denied it.

Jenny's tears welled up once more, "Dad, what do you mean? No, I don't believe you would have done something like that. You've never been an impulsive person!"

Mason tapped twice on the table with his hands in handcuffs, "People can change."

Jenny looked at him, "But you will not. You're my dad!"

Mason looked up. What should he say when he faced his daughter's trust?

He had reached this age. He had experienced difficulties and good sceneries in this world. He had also seen the indifference and warmth of human.

Any big storm or big wave was just a drop in the ocean.

He spoke indifferently, "I'm fine. You don't need to worry. I'll try to issue a statement to cut off the father-daughter relationship with you. This way, my affair will probably have less of an impact on you as well."

He thought about it and added, "If you have any difficulties in the future, you can go to your grandmother. Although you haven't seen her for so many years, you are, after all, your mother's only daughter. So, for your mother's sake, she shouldn't give you a hard time."

By saying these words, it was as if he had already indirectly admitted his crime.

But how was that possible?

Jenny pressed the corner of her eye with her finger, "But Dad, I don't want you to die!"

Mason laughed softly, "Don't we all have to die eventually? You're young, so you don't know that much..."

Even if he died, it shouldn't be in this way. Her dad had always lived a very wise life, so how could he impulsively kill someone and brutally burn his body?

Jenny pursed her lips hard and took a deep breath, "Dad, now that I'm back, I'm not going to see you go on like this! If you don't tell me, I'll look into it myself. I don't want to break our relationship. Whether you've killed someone or been wrongly accused, you're my father, and I'll not let go of Hedy Smith and her daughter!"

Mason darted a look at other places, and it took a moment before he said, "If you really insist on getting involved, stay out of my way. But there is one thing..."

"What?"

Jenny opened her eyes wide and looked hopefully at her father.

"You hold on to the Bliss Group for me. After all, it's left by your mother and me. If you can hold onto it, it will be a piece of your own property for one thing; and for another, it will be a reminder that you are living up to your mother."

Jenny thought nothing of it and said immediately, "OK."

Mason sighed, "I have a safe at Capital City Bank, and I'll leave you everything in it. It should help you a little if you get it out."

He was saying when he reached out his hand in handcuffs. He wrote a series of numerical codes on Jenny's hand.

That was when the staff reminded again, "Time to go in. No. 0587!"

Jenny looked at him sadly. He had started a business from scratch with her mother. He went through so many difficulties and made the Bliss Group the premier entertainment company in Capital City.

Now no one cared about the legend of his life. Only an emotionless number, No. 0587, represented him.

If her dad was not willing to talk about it now, then he was supposed to be in some kind of trouble.

She would definitely look into it. But before she looked into it, since her dad had already said he wanted her to hold on to the Bliss Group, there was no way she was going to let Hedy and her daughter take over the company her mom and dad had worked so hard to build together!

The murder and the report letter were grotesque.

Perhaps Hedy and her daughter were the sally port!

When she came out of the detention house, the sun was bright outside, stinging her eyes. And she suddenly felt like she was back in the human world.

She decided to check the safe first to see what her dad had left for her.

She'd been out early today, not even bringing Shirley with her. So, she took a cab alone to Capital City Bank.

Following the address and safe number her dad had told her, she managed to find the safe and open it with the code her dad had given her-.

Inside there was a cardboard box.

When she opened the cardboard box, she found a thick pile of paperwork inside.

Jenny read it carefully. God, this was amazing. This might be already half of her dad's fortune!

Corporate documents, share certificates, as well as shares, real estate, stores...

And Lane's villa where Hedy and her daughter lived was her father's property, which had not been transferred to Hedy. She didn't know why they were so rampant.

Some of the properties were already Jenny's, and she didn't even know it before.

Her dad had fifteen percent and her mom had thirty percent of the Bliss Group share. When her mom had died, it had probably never been changed, and the two held a total of only forty-five percent share.

She didn't know where the rest was.

Also, inside this cardboard box was a statement signed by her dad himself, as well as the family's household registered booklet and paternity certificate. It clearly stated that everything was to be given to his daughter, Jenny Lane, and that he wished the authorities to assist with the formalities, etc.

In the end, there was her dad's autograph and a red fingerprint.

It turned out that her dad had prepared everything beforehand.

Was the crime he had committed was true?
