Chapter 11 Am I Scary?
In the car, Zoe sat stiffly in Carlos' arms, not daring to move a muscle.
Henry was concentrating on the driving seemingly, but in fact, he kept sizing up the woman called Zoe in private. He wondered what magic this woman had to make his boss so concerned about her that after getting the results of the investigation. He practically abandoned a group of executives and rushed over here.
He had to admit genuinely that the woman looked gorgeous, but Henry didn't believe she could win the big boss's heart solely by this. Carlos was surrounded by a stunning array of various beauties over the years, but still, he kept his heart to himself, miserly to cast a look at those hovering women.
This time unprecedentedly, he became so interested in a woman. It was irresistible for him to gossip.
Henry was so curious, but in the trunk of the car, Zoe could not breathe under the oppressive atmosphere of the man.
Carlos, with a cotton swab in his hand, was applying medication to the abrasions on her face, and unlike his emotionless face, he was doing it gently.
But still, the bruise on her forehead and her swollen face hurt at the touch, and Zoe couldn't help cringing, "It hurts..."
Carlos stopped, and his eyes turned a little glummer as his eyes skimmed over her wound, "Hurry up."
Zoe was foggy, "Huh?"
Henry smiled politely and kindly explained, "Ms. Edward, Mr. Holt was talking to me."
Zoe nodded awkwardly. Her eyes accidentally encountered the man's eyes, and she hurriedly averted them.
Although the man gave her a hand just now, he looked...scary to her.
Sensing she was trying to shun eye contact, Carlos' thin lips pursed a little more, emitting chilly air that nearly froze Zoe into a popsicle stick.
She spontaneously tried to get off his lap but was pinned back by his palm on her waist, and he yanked back rudely, "Don't move."
Zoe got stiffened again, not daring to breathe.
Jesus! I'd rather pass out!
Carlos felt the woman on his lap was stiff like wood. It occurred to him that she might be afraid of him. He frowned in displeasure, "Am I scary?"
What was she supposed to say?
Carlos, "Just answer me."
Zoe wanted to cry, "Answer you what?"
Carlos stared at her in silence without blinking.
Zoe looked toward Henry for help who was driving in front of her, but the grasp on her waist tightened so she replied in haste, "No, no, you're not scary. It's me. I'm not brave enough..."
Henry giggled out loud but was stopped by Carlos' glare. He withdrew his laughing and got back to driving.
Zoe was going crazy. Was she allowed to run away? Was she?
Things ran down a different road far from what she had expected. She had thought there was gonna be a tough fight at the Edwardses today. What she hadn't expected was that it was disturbed by the sudden appearance of the man who not only helped her out but also refuted Lucas. Even though it had happened, she still felt so surreal and unbelievable.
She'd never thought that someone would help her.
Most importantly, this person was also the man from her own one-night stand...
To put it impartially, this man from her one-night stand really didn't look like the type of guy who would do one-night stand. Lucas could be categorized as a handsome young guy. However, this man was more good-looking. This man could defeat Lucas a thousand times if there was a contest for "charming guys". He was the type of guy who would make girls screaming when he walked in the streets.
The tailor-made suit wrapped around that slender and powerful body. Even when he was seated, the narrow carriage couldn't contain the powerful aura emanating from him.
