Chapter 5 He Wants to Marry Mollie
"Let's talk about Lucas and Sophie's marriage."
Twenty years ago, the older master of the Crook Family saved the older master of the Goodwin Family's life. To repay the favor, Mr. Goodwin promised that one of his grandsons would marry Mr. Crook's granddaughter.
Initially, Stanley did not take it seriously. Both of his other two sons were married, and he never mentioned the matter. Last month, however, his father became seriously ill. Before he died, the older man repeatedly told his son to fulfill that promise on behalf of him.
Therefore, despite his own unwillingness, Stanley had to carry it out.
Among his sons, Lucas was currently the only one unmarried. Sophie Crook, the 25-year-old daughter of Alec, seemed to be an excellent match for him.
At Stanley's words, Alec beamed with joy. Originally, he had no hope for this marriage. The Goodwin Family was way too wealthy and influential for them to get closer to. It was a dream come true for him that the Goodwins actually took the initiative to bring it up.
Sophie gave a coy glance at Lucas, who was incredibly handsome, her heart pounding violently. She had seen this man in a magazine before, but she did not expect that he was even more attractive in real life. She simply felt she was falling for him.
Just then, a magnetic, somewhat teasing voice sounded, "Dad, you are wrong. It's not my marriage to Miss Sophie, but my marriage to Miss Mollie."
With that, Lucas stared at Mollie, who was slicing the steak, with traces of unique brilliance in his eyes.
From the moment he walked in, he found the girl familiar. Though she kept her head down, he still recognized her due to the bracelet on her wrist. She was the girl who dared to give him an overarm throw the other day at the bar.
He was here as Stanley threatened him with 10% of his shares. However, he did not want to marry Sophie at all.
Since their grandfather's agreement did not specify which woman he was going to marry, instead of marrying a cookie-cutter vase, he might as well marry a flower with thorns, who was pretty and interesting. She would surely bring his house lots of laughter.
He remembered that her surname was Hacket and guessed that Alec was her stepfather. Technically, Mollie was also part of the Crook Family. Therefore, marrying her would not break his grandfather's promise.
Mollie, who bowed her head in silence all the time, eventually lifted her eyes in shock and looked at the man sitting opposite her. He was so gorgeous.
Besides, she somehow felt his features familiar.
All of a sudden, some vague fragments flashed across her mind. She recalled that she knocked into a man's chest at the bar and hit him.
Involuntarily, she swallowed, wondering if the man before her was the one at the bar. The déjà vu grew stronger and stronger.
She remembered that Lydia had mentioned the man's status. However, she could not recall it. There was only one detail imprinted on her mind, that the man had a violent tendency.
Mollie opened her lips slightly, but before she could say anything, Stanley's angry voice sounded, "Lucas, don't mess around!"
Among his three sons, he favored Lucas, the youngest one, due to his outstanding abilities. That was why he gave him the position of the president of Empire Consortium.
However, Lucas was also the least obedient one, which gave him a headache from time to time.
Lucas stared at Mollie with an unchanged expression on his face, saying, "I'm marrying Mollie, or the marriage contract will be canceled. Make your choice." With that, he stood up gracefully. "I'm leaving for another appointment. You guys take your time, please."
