Chapter 10 The Strife

"I know." Bree ignored Hilda's embarrassed expression and flashed a harmless smile. "But I'm Leo's wife, so I guess I'm not much of an intruder, right?"

"Wife?!"

Patrice's hand trembled as people on the spot shouted in shock in unison, and half a glass of red wine was spilled upon her hand.

Bree looked at Patrice, who was wiping wine stains off her hand with a paper towel, thinking that anyone who still had a little bit of shame should have walked away from such a scene.

Still, Miss Watts sat tight and had no intention to leave.

At this moment, no one paid any attention to Patrice.

"Is it true what she has said?" Hervey asked Leo, pointing sullenly at Bree.

Hilda and Oliver were also staring at him intently as if trying to read something in his face.

"Yes."

It was a simple word but powerful enough to stir up a storm within the Lewis Family.

Before Hervey and the others could come to their senses, Leo was already on his feet.

He stood still and stared across the table at the man he was supposed to call "Father."

"According to my mother's will, when I get married, I'll receive fifty percent of the Corbyn Group's shares that she left me."

"What are you talking about?" Oliver was the first to respond to Leo, glaring at Leo with a stern expression on his face.

"There's no such thing as the Corbyn Group in S City any longer. Forget about your fantasy!"

"Oliver, you haven't forgotten what the Lewis Group's name used to be, have you?" Leo watched Oliver jumping up and down with a storm rolling in his dark eyes.

"Enough!" Hervey's face was frighteningly gloomy as he looked at Leo searchingly, "Do you still remember your last name?"

"There's no conflict between what my last name is and the fact that I'm getting back the shares that are rightfully mine."

"That's alright!" As the atmosphere was getting intenser and intenser, Hilda joined the conversation, trying to change the subject by saying, "We're having a meal! Leave whatever you have to say after it."

With that, Hilda turned to Bree, urging, "Calm Leo down. It's rare for him to come back. Let's not destroy the familial harmony."

Bree maintained silence, sitting quietly by Leo with an apparent attitude.

Leo lowered his head to look at her, and Bree flashed a gentle smile with a crystal-clear, determined look in her eyes.

No matter what he was going to do, she would always be on his side.

Leo initially brought the woman back to the Lewis Family as a preemptive measure.

At this moment, standing in the place he hated and in front of the people he disliked, Leo had to admit that the woman, standing on his side without hesitation, somehow warmed him all over.

She did not say much after entering the house, but she had given him the firmest support.

"I'll get a lawyer to talk to you about the share inheritance." With that, Leo took Bree's hand and left without looking at the others, whose expressions were awkward.

"Wait a minute!" Hilda chased after them. "Bree. Leo's father and I didn't know you two have got married."

While speaking, Hilda touched her own coat, trying to find something to send Bree as a gift. However, as she did not intend to go out, she was not wearing any jewelry except for a Hetian-jade bracelet on her wrist.

It was Hilda's favorite. However, thinking about her purpose, she gritted her teeth, took it off, and shoved it into Bree's hand.

Bree, who initially wanted to refuse, eventually accepted it as she saw the glint of unwillingness in Hilda's eyes.

Witnessing that Leo's expression grew gloomier, Hilda felt delighted and thought she was doing the right thing.
