Chapter 8 Feeling Sad
Two days flew by.
That night, after the two kids fell asleep, Kira came to the living room.
Two days had passed since Clyde left his contact information to her. She wondered how his work was going.
At that, she took out her cell phone, ready to give him a call.
Rat-a-tat.
There came a knock on the door. Kira got up to answer it.
The visitor was Clyde. In a black suit, his tall figure almost blocked the door frame.
Before she could greet him, she suddenly saw a luggage case towed by his hand and asked curiously, "Clyde, are you here to pick up the kids?"
"I'm out of work." He said in a low voice.
Kira stiffened, "What?"
"The house I lived in was assigned by the company and now is expropriated." He continued.
Faced with sudden unemployment, loss of house, and two kids to raise, anyone would feel devastated.
She sighed inwardly and comforted him, "Don't worry, I can help you take care of the kids for more days. Take your time to find a job and a house."
Following her words, she reached out to close the door.
Clyde beat her to put his hand on the doorknob.
Unable to close the door, Kira frowned at him.
He asked in a faint voice, "Can I get in and check on my kids?"
Without further ado, she let him in.
There was only a 1.5-meter bed in the bedroom. At that moment, the two kids were sleeping soundly under their blankets.
Clyde sat on the edge of the bed and glanced around.
The room was small, and the bed board was hard.
But the decoration was cozy, and a faint fragrance of herbs permeated the air.
There were some new clothes for the kids on a hanger. Looked like they were just washed. Apart from those, there was a piece of underwear…
His pupils contracted, and he immediately looked away.
As a flicker of embarrassment flashed across her eyes, she told him, "Don't worry, I'll take care of the kids. It's late and time for me to sleep."
She felt strange to stay with a man in the middle of the night.
Clyde nodded his head and got up to leave.
Kira walked him out and closed the door. Before she could lock it, she inadvertently looked down and spotted a black wallet on the floor.
It was a men's wallet.
She picked it up, only to find it empty. Except for a few bank cards, there wasn't even a single dime.
There was dust inside, which showed that it hadn't be opened for a long time.
She suddenly felt sad.
The man looked so dashing. Why did he live…
Not a compassionate person, she somehow took pity on the father of the two kids in the room.
She pulled open the door and chased after the man.
The weather had been cloudy in South City recently. At night, it was pitch dark outside.
She almost trotted to the entrance of the condo and finally spotted that tall figure below a street lamp.
As she thought of his miserable state, the figure looked more desolate.
Clyde was walking outside. His face was composed, and his steps slow, very slow.
She should have chased out by now.
As expected, her shout soon came from behind.
"Clyde!"
