Chapter 11 His Heart Changed

Liz frowned.

What was going on?

Why her display of affection between Greg and her scared the men like this?

Did she look scary when she was showing off?

Well, that was not bad. It was better to be scary than to be bullied.

Without overthinking, Liz turned around, intending to get out of this place as early as possible.

Unexpectedly, the moment the woman turned around, she saw Greg's cold face.

"What are you doing here?"

Greg was in a complicated mood.

When he heard Amor's report that Liz had run off, he initially thought he would catch his wife cheating. Surprisingly, she visited in prison.

Clearly, she was here to see Hubert.

At the thought that Liz married him to save Hubert, Greg inevitably felt somewhat lost inside.

The moment Greg saw some men harassing Liz from a distance, he instantly got out of the car and rushed over. When he arrived at the spot, he heard Liz's words, in which she referred to him as her husband.

It was the second time Liz used the word "husband."

Greg stood there, suddenly not knowing what to say, and stared at Liz unblinkingly.

On seeing Greg, the men hurriedly sneaked away.

Liz became somewhat terrified of Greg's gaze and had no choice but to take a step forward.

"Are you following me for fear that I'll go to Chris?"

Greg's lips moved, his face was still expressionless, and the look in his eyes was slightly awkward.

"Is what you've just said true?"

"What?"

Liz asked reflexively.

Aww.

She realized what he was asking.

With her pretty eyes moving around, Liz deliberately sighed, then said, "I was too scared just now to remember so many words I've said."

Greg instantly straightened his face with a trace of disappointment crossing his eyes.

"Forget it then."

With that, he turned around.

Just then, Liz reached out to grab his wrist.

The moment Greg turned back, the woman naughtily poked her finger into his cheek twice.

Liz tilted her head and pouted.

"Greg, facial paralysis is a disease, and it needs to be treated."

"Liz!"

Liz withdrew her hand.

Yikes!

It seemed that she accidentally touched the tiger whiskers.

Liz blinked twice cautiously, observing the man.

"Angry?"

No response.

"Well, what was the question that you proposed?"

Still no response.

Liz scratched her head.

Greg remained a proud expression in silence.

Given that she brought too much harm to the man in her previous life, Liz decided that she must do something to make it up and to please him.

Therefore, she stood on her tiptoes and landed a kiss on his tightly pursed lips.

Greg's furrowed brows relaxed slightly.

Liz licked her lips, saying, "I meant what I said."

Her eyes were wide open with crystal-clear brilliance inside, and her expression was too grave to arouse any doubt in the man.

Greg's heart was sore and aching.

He dared not respond to the girl or believe her words at this moment.

Over the last eight years, Liz's verbal disgust and glances full of hatred had been deeply imprinted in Greg's heart.

"You..."

After voicing this word, Greg felt like his throat was on fire and found it hard to make another sound.

Liz got soreness in her heart, as well.

She stepped forward to embrace Greg and leaned into his arms, smelling his familiar scent to calm her own heart.

"I'm sorry, Greg. I'm sorry that I didn't consider your feelings and kept hurting you. I promise I won't be willful and ignorant and won't fail to distinguish between right and wrong.

We are married, and we will never be apart again."

Greg could not catch his breath and held it for a good while before resuming its normal rhythm.

From the moment Liz woke up from the coma, she performed like a completely new person.

Whether it was out of sincerity or for some other reason, as long as it was Liz, Greg could not resist it.

Since it was impossible not to love Liz in this life, Greg decided that he would accept her kindness even if it were fake.

Greg placed his stiffened arm upon Liz's back after a good while; then, he abruptly pulled her out of his arms.

Liz looked at him with confusion and distress.

What was going on?

He seemed to be gentle a second ago. Why did he suddenly drag Liz out of his arms?

Greg sized the woman up and down, then asked with a frown, "You didn't take a shower, did you?"

"Well...No."

Liz was stunned.

She was in a hurry to get out, and indeed she got no time for a shower.

Greg was somewhat irritated. The woman had just promised to be a sensible person in the future, but she got changed without showering and then came out like a mess.

No wonder her back felt slightly damp. Did she want to fall ill?

Greg reached out to lift the woman's collar and placed her into his vehicle's passenger seat like she was a puppy.

As the car started to move, Liz lowered her head to sniff her collar, innocently.

Then, she muttered, "It smells fine."

She thought to herself, "What's the fuss about? Shouldn't Greg be a passionate lover? How come he cold-shoulder me just because I didn't shower in a day?

Hum.

No wonder people say marriage is the tomb of romance. It took only one day that I become an annoying fly in his eyes from a pretty butterfly after we got married."

Liz remained silent with anger all the way back home.

Once they got home, Greg threw her into the bathroom.

After taking a shower, the woman stepped out of the bathroom with a bath cloth wrapped around her body. Immediately, she saw Greg sitting on the couch with medicine in his hand.

Her anger disappeared in an instant.

"Take some medicine."

Greg looked at Liz.

Liz was about to take the bowl when Greg's cell phone rang.

The ringtone sounded so familiar!

It was a song sung by Kylie.

Liz turned pale all at once.

Amor's anxious voice sounded from the other end of the line, "Mr. Behrendt, did you find Miss Tuccillo?"

"She's home."

"That's glad to hear."

Amor judged from Greg's tone of voice that everything should be fine.

After Amor arrived at the company, he heard that the marketing manager was scared half to death.

Amor thought that if Mr. Behrendt caught Liz in bed with Chris, he would undoubtedly kill Chris.

Amor cared nothing about Chris's life or death but was worried that he might be held accountable too.

Amor had not married or given birth to a kid. He could not allow himself to die like this!

After hanging up, Greg continued to hand the bowl to Liz. "Take this."

"No!"

Liz tilted her head to one side in exasperation.

Greg furrowed his brows, asking, "What's the fuss about?"

"My pleasure."

Greg narrowed his eyes.

Was he being too nice to the woman? It seemed that her body could barely contain her arrogance.

She looked somewhat adorable, though.

"Liz, is my temper too tiny in your eyes?"

The voice sounded dangerous.

Liz lowered her head, her shoulders trembling.

Greg's flames of fury were smothered instantly. Holding the medicine bowl with two hands, he was at a loss what to do.

"Why are you crying?"

Could it be that Liz was afraid of taking medicine? But she was not a kid anymore. What could be the reason, then?

Liz abruptly lifted her head to look at Greg with her reddened eyes, saying through her clenched teeth, "Why do you use that ringtone?"

"That ringtone?"

Greg was stunned, then glanced at his cell phone and understood what was going on.

"That's Kylie's song! Why are you using it as your ringtone?" Liz's voice was trembling with anger.

Could it be that Greg also changed in addition to Liz?

Greg did not love her anymore!

Was this karmic retribution?
