Chapter 12 You Love Me Only

Greg curled up his lips pleasantly at Liz's frequently changing angry expression.

A layer of sweetness and fragrance wrapped his heart.

"You sang this song at the freshman orientation party."

His tone was flat and emotionless.

Liz was stunned.

After a moment, she knocked her own head with a bent finger.

It was true. How could Liz have forgotten that?

That was a relief!

"Are you jealous?" Greg stared into her eyes.

Liz blushed slightly as the man read her mind easily. Still, she looked into his eyes.

"Yeah, I am jealous."

The woman decided to define her position at this moment.

On her tiptoes, she reached out a finger to poke in Greg's chest.

"Greg, listen to me, you are my husband, and you must love me only and have me only in your heart!

Change your ringtone now. I don't want to hear..." A sneeze interrupted Liz's words.

She sniffed her nose.

With that, she intended to continue. However, Greg abruptly picked her up and placed her upon his shoulder with one hand.

"What are you doing? I know you're mighty. Put me down."

Without saying a word, Greg threw her onto the bed and fixed her moving legs with his hands.

As the woman sat still, Greg placed the bowl with medicine inside in front of her again.

"Take the medicine."

"You..."

Upon seeing Greg's somewhat scary expression, Liz hurried to mute her mouth.

Thus, she took medicine, swiftly and obediently.

Liz lifted her head.

"The last sip." Greg was strict.

Liz buried her head again to drain the medicine, then handed the bowl back to the man.

"It's bitter," said the woman with a martyred look in her eyes.

No response.

Liz lowered her head.

Well, she should not have expected Greg, an iceberg, to show his tenderness. Otherwise, she must have felt his affection for her in her previous life.

Suddenly, there was an itch on her neck.

Liz lifted her eyes to see Greg carefully wiping the waterdrops off her neck with a towel.

The towel had a soft touch, and Greg's movement was meticulous. His delicate features were close in front of Liz's eyes.

He was a man with fantastic handsomeness.

How could Liz stupidly disregard Greg's gorgeous appearance in her previous life?

Greg lifted his eyes to look at Liz's face.

The look on her face was unpredictable and expressive.

In sharp contrast, Greg was almost always expressionless.

That was what he liked about Liz, her youthful eyes and her unbridled, heartless smile.

However, as long as Greg was around, she would withdraw her smile.

At the thought of Liz's happy face when she was with Chris, Greg's heart sank to the bottom.

"Greg, what's the matter?"

Liz waved her hand before the man's eyes.

She wondered why Greg stopped wiping her neck and maintained motionless in a daze for almost two minutes.

Greg put away the towel expressionlessly, leaned over to take a hairdryer out of the nightstand, then turned it on.

The noise of the hairdryer submerged Liz's voice.

She sat still, enjoying Greg's tenderness, and gradually closed her eyes with comfort.

Greg's heart, too, relaxed.

As far as the man could recall, it was the first time Liz had been so serene around him.

Usually, when Liz met Greg, she would hurriedly run away from him in disgust.

Greg would cherish every moment of being able to blow-dry Liz's hair and feed her medicine as he did at present, whether her sincerity was fake or authentic or no matter how long their marriage could last.

Greg considerately took out Liz's hair, which was tucked in her pajamas, revealing her slender, pale neck and thin, delicate ears.

A tiny, faint mole at the base of Liz's ear stung Greg's heart.

He once bit and kissed that mole on the crazy night of their sophomore year.

Liz always hated Greg for having sex with her and was even loath to spare an extra glance at their child.

As the pain was about to drown his heart, Greg's grip on the hairdryer tightened subconsciously, making the handle of it squeaking.

However, as the wind's sound concealed the squeaking of the hairdryer's handle, Liz did not notice.

Just then, she sneezed again.

Greg sighed, quickly finished drying her hair, turned off the appliance, and pressed her under the covers.

He could not help but complain, "You didn't take a shower before getting changed and going out with your damp body. It's no surprise at all that you catch a cold."

Liz glared at the man and clenched her fists in exasperation, intending to retort.

She was ill. Without comforting her, Greg actually scolded her strictly. That was unbearable.

Suddenly, she paused.

It turned out that Greg did not mean to loathe her for not taking a shower but was worried that she would fall ill.

All of a sudden, Liz's heart was wrapped by a layer of sweetness and floating in happiness.

She almost misunderstood the man again.

Fortunately, she came to realize the truth in time.

Liz's fists softened, then landed gently on Greg's sturdy chest.

She said in a sweet tone of voice, "Oh you, next time when you try to care for me, make it simple. What if I misunderstand your intention?"

Greg put away the bowl with a sigh, then tucked Liz's naughty hands underneath the blanket.

He replied in a meaningful tone of voice.

"You're right. I'm not straightforward enough. Perhaps that's why you prefer Chris."

Liz's smile froze.

That made sense.

Ever since they were students, Chris was a person who would make a big deal out of whatever he did for Liz.

For instance, Liz used to be too lazy to get up early enough for breakfast before going to school, and Chris always brought food for her.

When Liz was thirsty, Chris would fetch her water. He even bought her a thermos.

Liz hated doing homework, and Chris would lend her his to copy. Later on, he even learned to imitate her handwriting and did the copy work for her.

When Greg found out about this, he snitched to the teacher, forcing Liz to do homework independently.

In contrast, Liz, of course, preferred Chris to Greg in her previous life.

However, things seemed to be different in retrospect.

All of Chris's acts of kindness were calculated attempts to curry favor with Liz. Greg's affection for Liz, on the other hand, was genuine.

From a green age to maturity, Greg loved Liz with no regrets.

Even before his death, he did not give up loving her.

Liz vigorously shook her head.

"Greg, let bygones be bygones. Now, I only love you."

Here she went again.

Greg frowned.

In his eyes, what Liz said and pictured was too good to be true.

How dare he believe it?

At the sight of him frowning, Liz became anxious.

She had told him her true feelings, but Greg did not look delighted at all.

Liz knew that she had done too much to break Greg's heart, so he dared not to trust her honeyed words.

The woman felt agitated and guilty.
