Chapter 6 Escape

Summer walked along an unlit path for a long time. As the path wound, she seemingly passed a water pond, a basketball court, a swimming pool, a pavilion…

My goodness, the luxury of rich people was unimaginable.

After a run for about ten minutes, she stopped to catch a breath.

She raised her head and saw a small Chinese-style house by the path. There were only two dim lights at its entrance.

The house was small only compared with the Tran's villa and actually times larger than her house.

After running for so long, Summer believed that she had got out of the villa.

At such late hours, presumably, there were no taxis around the villa area. Therefore, she stopped and knocked on the door to seek help.

She kept knocking for quite a while but got no response. After a long day, she leaned against the steps and fell asleep.

It was a chilling October night in Samite City. In a simple dress, Summer involuntarily huddled up.

In the study of Tran's villa.

"Any news about… Carter?" Howard asked with his brows furrowing.

After just mentioning Amanda, he remembered his brother who went missing in a playground when he was 15 years old.

The loss of Carter Tran led to a dramatic change in the Trans' lives.

Amanda, who lost her only son, accused Howard of deliberately abandoning his three-year-old brother for his grudge against her. Faced with a death warning, Howard had to go abroad alone and seek study in the United States at the age of 15. Without her consent, he was not allowed to come back.

Since then, Carter became a taboo among all members of the Tran family.

"I only heard that he was abducted by human traffickers and sold to the mountains. We have been searching for him across the country all these years." John trembled and slowly shook his head.

"I see, keep searching." Howard rested his head on his hands, closed his eyes painfully, and said in a depressed tone.

Just then, a noise came from outside.

"What's wrong?" Howard opened the door, came out, and asked.

"S… sir, madam is gone." Felicity hastened over and replied in a panic.

"Gone? Weren't you at the window of the study just now?" Howard asked wonderingly.

He dialed Summer's number, but her phone was powered off.

"Yes, but madam said that she dropped her bracelet and came back to pick it up. I went to the kitchen to prepare dinner. After quite some time, madam still didn't return. Then I came to search for her around the study but still found no sign of her."

Felicity almost cried out of anxiety.

Howard instantly pulled a long face. On second thought, he knew that Amanda was watching and thus relaxed, "She might have got lost. Turn on all the lights and look for her."

The entire Tran's house was thrown into confusion.

Howard told Amanda to have dinner first. The old lady walked to the dining table, sat down, and smiled, "It's the first time that the new bride came here today, so we should have dinner together. Go look for her, I'll wait here, no rush."

"Okay." He looked relaxed and sounded bland.

In fact, he was very anxious. Stopping a scurrying servant, he asked, "Have you searched the side yard?"

"No… not yet, I'm going now." Replied the servant.

Howard thought for a while, curled up his mouth to sneer, and checked the servant, "No, I'll go. You go and tell Felicity to get dinner ready."

They had searched every corner of the Tran's villa which was located on the hillside. All the exits were guarded, and no message of Summer's departure came, so she must be hiding in the side yard.

The side yard was located at the foot of a mountain. The remote and quiet place used to his father's convalescent home.

On a motorcycle, Howard came to the side yard.

Leaning against the steps to rest, Summer heard the sound of the engine and rose with spirit. The owner of the house was back, and she would be saved.
