Chapter 5 Scheming CEO

In the study on the first floor of the Tran's villa.

Both Howard and the old butler, John, knitted their brows seriously.

"Mr. Tran, were we overcautious to misunderstand the old lady at the wedding? I could see her sincere wish that you could marry with the lady from the Flynn family." John was care-laden.

Howard walked to the window, pondered for a while, and snapped, "Misunderstanding? If she hadn't deliberately made a match and kept it from me, I wouldn't have held the wedding with Elena!"

"True, the old lady was a little harsh on you in the past. You didn't even see the old man one last time, but there was a reason. Ever since the old man passed away and you came back from abroad three years ago, she has been gracious and you have been filial though you're not related by blood. Why don't you…"

"John." Seemingly sick of his speech, Howard cut him short in a sulk.

"Please forgive me for my garrulity…" John mumbled with servility.

As John bowed his head at a loss, Howard softened his tone.

"She is gracious because of my father's deathbed wish. I'm filial because I feel indebted to her. If she could maintain the superficial harmony, I certainly would show filial piety, nourish her in her old age, and would not make it hard for her."

"Only you have to suffer the grievances. This time you broke the pledge of marriage and offended the Flynn family. I'm afraid they would not take it lying down." John said with distress.

"I don't care." Howard sneered.

"Madam, what are you doing here? It's time for dinner." Felicity's voice suddenly came from outside the window.

Summer had been eavesdropping at the window. Startled by the voice, she got up, took a look into the study, and happened to see the gaze from Howard who stood just by the window.

Summer smiled awkwardly and responded nervously, "Ah… okay, Felicity… I got lost." Then she fled like a rabbit.

"Whenever mister has a talk with John in the study, we should stay away. Mister doesn't like any disturbance." Felicity smiled in the front.

Summer agreed and followed Felicity, but her heart was thumping, 'What did I just hear?'

Turned out the mother and son of the Tran family were not related by blood. Turned out Howard repented of the marriage because it was arranged by Amanda.

The man, who temporarily broke the pledge of marriage, seemed unreliable but was actually so sophisticated that he deliberately embarrassed the old lady in public.

What a scheming CEO!

Gosh! The relationships in rich families were so complicated. If a weak person like her got involved, wouldn't she be a lamb to the slaughter?

Summer suddenly halted her steps. Would Howard silence her because she overheard the secret of the Tran family?

She looked at Felicity innocently and spoke in a trembling voice, "F… Felicity, well… I might have dropped my bracelet there. I should find it and will be right back."

Fortunately, Felicity didn't notice anything wrong, "Come back as soon as possible. I'll go to the kitchen and tell them to serve the dinner."

She agreed tactfully with a smile.

As Felicity walked away, she looked around, planning to escape under the cover of the night.

But the Tran's villa was too large. Summer walked to every gate big and small. There were bodyguards and bright lights. She had to take a route without light.

When John and Howard found their conversation eavesdropped, they exchanged looks nervously.

"How should we deal with… Miss Pratt?" John asked after a moment of hesitation.

"The matter is not done yet, so she certainly should stay." Howard walked to the desk, sat down, and smiled coldly.

John mused and nodded in agreement.
