Chapter 23 She's Not Dead

In her swoon, Summer felt like treading on air.

Feeling like floating in mid-air, she kept her eyes closed. Her pale face contorted while her forehead was covered with a fine sweat.

"Awake?"

The voice sounded wafting over from afar.

She narrowed her eyes and took a look. The warm, cheering sunlight slanted in through the window. The surroundings looked familiar. This might be a dream.

She closed her eyes tiredly, trying to get more sleep.

"Don't sham sleep since you're awake."

Summer managed to open her eyes, squinted over, bounced up like being shocked by electricity, and stared at Howard who was reclining on the bed.

Turned out the spot she felt comfortable with was Howard's robust chest, and this place was Clouds International.

Howard got up with a cold face and rubbed his numb arm.

Rat-tat…

Mark had been standing outside. Upon hearing the noise, he knocked on the door, "Mr. Tran, Dr. Eric is waiting in the living room…"

"Let him go, she's not dead." Howard took a glance at Summer who sat up and then instructed blandly.

Sure enough, this man was cold-blooded and merciless. As long as she was not dead, he was fine.

Howard's eyes had been fixed on her, which made her uncomfortable. Involuntarily she looked down at herself.

The thin silk pajamas stuck to her body, setting off her slender waist and curvy figure.

Following a scream, she hurriedly hid under the quilt and covered her head.

"No need to hide, I've seen it all." Howard picked up the porridge from the table, blew at it, and said nonchalantly.

What?

Summer immediately pictured how Howard helped her change the clothes and cursed her with a disdainful face.

She pulled the quilt over, sat upright, and coughed to cover up her embarrassment.

"Have some porridge."

There was a tinge of tenderness in this stern-faced man's voice?

"Well, I've checked the bills with the hospital. The medical expenses are about 113,000 yuan in total. I've consulted a real estate agent. If I sell my old house, I can pretty much pay off the debt."

Summer tried to sound casual.

Since Susan was no more, she no longer had to stay here against her will in exchange for the medical expenses.

After a coma for two days and two nights, she woke up like a different person. Her heart was filled with the desire to survive.

"This is what you want to say as soon as you wake up?" Howard stopped blowing at the porridge, his eyes terrifyingly cold.

"Now that you've got the shares and I no longer need money, we…" She continued to reason.

Before she could finish her statement, Howard put the bowl down heavily.

"Summer, the rain the day before yesterday was too much that your head is muddled?"

Wasn't this the logic of pirates? She was muddleheaded to state the facts? They could talk it through, why resorting to personal abuse?

"Aren't you a businessman? Profit maximization? Now I have no value to you." Despite her anger, she kept her cool.

"Valuable or valueless, it's my call." Following his words, Howard got up to leave.

Summer knelt on the floor with a thud and clasped his long leg.

"Let go."

"No."

"Are you sure?" A frivolous smile appeared at the corner of his mouth.

Abruptly he scooped up the petite girl, tossed her to the soft bed, and pressed straight down.

His kiss was aggressive and dominant. With the tip of his tongue, he forced open her teeth, and she felt suffocated.

She struggled desperately, felt the bowl of porridge at the bed, and exerted her full strength to smash it to the floor.

He finally stopped.
