Chapter 7 You Deserve It

Edwin looked at the woman with a gloomy expression and a slight frown. "Why are you still here?"

"Huh? I..." Celia, while searing for an excuse, noticed that the bowl on the desk was half-empty and thus secretly felt pleased. "I've come back as I'm worried about you."

"That's not necessary!" Edwin looked standoffish. "You may leave!"

"I'm not leaving!" Celia grabbed Edwin's arm and leaned close to him, saying, "I want to stay with you!"

Donald told Celia that the drug was quite efficient. Once a man drank it, all his cells would surrender to its effect in less than five minutes. By then, the man would want to have sex with an animal, let alone a woman.

How come Edwin looked as normal as usual?

Could it be that the drug was dummy?

Just then, Edwin pushed the woman away, his brows tightening. "You have one minute to get lost." With that, he went upstairs without looking back.

How could Celia miss such a great opportunity?

She swiftly rushed over to him, took his arm, and said in a coquettish tone of voice, "No, I want to keep you company and actually fancy to..."

"Get out!" Edwin flung the woman's hand away from him. His face became darker, and under the lights, sweat beads upon his forehead were shining faintly.

Celia took the handrail and looked at Edwin in shock. "You pushed me? Edwin..."

"You have thirty seconds left!" Edwin glanced at the woman with a gloomy look in his eyes. "Otherwise, you will read news about the Harris Group's takeover tomorrow!"

Celia was startled. As bold as she was, she dared not put her family business at risk. Thus, she had to tamp down her desires and pretend to leave, planning to come back to be the man's antidote when the drug showed the effect.

However, the moment Celia walked out of the villa, the lights inside went out together, and even the gate was automatically locked with a click. She immediately became as anxious as an ant on a hot pot.

At the same time, Effie, hiding in the guest room upstairs, received a phone call from Herman.

"Effie, please help me."

"Herman, what's the matter?" Effie instantly got nervous. "What happened?"

"I'm dying! I feel so terrible." Herman said in a weak, tearful voice, "Come and see me for the last time, I...I'm dying."

"Herman, don't cry. I'll be there right away. Wait for me." With that, Effie opened the door and rushed out of the room.

It was dark outside. Effie paused for one second, then promptly turned on the flashlight on her cell phone.

Just as she rushed towards the stairs, her body was dragged into the darkness by a powerful force.

Before Effie could manage to scream, her lips were kissed.

She struggled and resisted hard. Still, she could not break free from those pair of evil hands. Her entire body was controlled, and in an instant, she lost all her...

While being invaded madly, Effie's last portion of consciousness dissolved in the dark together with intense pain and fear.

As the drug's effect grew weak, the man saw Effie's face covered by tears and horribly pale. Somehow, his heart ached as if someone had pierced it with a dagger.

He gently caressed the girl's hair, which was soaked with sweat and tears, and frowned with regret.

What on earth was he doing?

The woman was just a victim of the entire event. What had she done wrong?

Just because she was the selected woman in his father's will and that she was called Effie Fletcher?

The man turned to look at the girl and intuitively thought of the contents in the will: Edwin Bennett must marry Effie Fletcher; otherwise, the complete property of the Bennett Group would be transferred to Effie Fletcher!

All of a sudden, Edwin laughed grimly. He had never expected that his father still could not forget the woman who had forced his mother to death and even wanted him to marry that woman's daughter.

Ridiculous! Simply ridiculous! It was the most absurd joke in the world.

For Edwin, the Bennett Group was no big deal at all.

However, how could he let that woman win it over?

Even so...

Edwin turned to look at the extremely pale girl whose face was covered in tears and felt a sharp pain in his heart. Was this what he wanted?

The next second, images of his mother jumping off a tall building occurred to Edwin's mind, and all the guilt and remorse in his heart disappeared without a trace.

"Effie Fletcher, you deserve it!" With that, the man gave an icy glance at the woman, then got up and left the room.

At dawn, Effie suddenly woke up, sat up, and looked around in horror as if she had a nightmare.

Just then, the door was kicked open with a bang.

Intuitively, she took up the vase from the table and threw it over.

Along with a crispy bang, the vase fell apart and broke into pieces.
