Celia still felt furious after getting home and drank up half a bottle of brandy in a breath.

She loved Edwin for three years. Eventually, however, he did not even touch her finger but scolded her for a bitch.

Was it because that woman could enable him to inherit a fortune and that her name was Effie Flecther?

With a bang, Celia slammed the glass to the ground, asking, "Why?"

"Miss, are you alright?" A servant rushed over upon hearing the noise and asked worriedly after noticing the broken glass on the floor.

Celia stared at the fragments mercilessly with an extremely gloomy look in her eyes. "I can't wait. I can't wait for a minute!"

"Miss, what are you...waiting for?" The servant looked at Celia with confusion.

"Call Donald over!"

Soon, a tall, dark-faced man walked into the room. "Miss!"

"Did you bring the drug you mentioned last time?" Due to the alcohol Celia took, she looked flushed, and her expression was enchanting, charming, and pretty when she looked at Donald.

Donald froze for a second, then lowered his head, answering, "Yes, it's with me."

"Give it to me!"

Donald then handed a transparent plastic bag to Celia, saying, "The drug is horribly dangerous, if..."

"I don't need you to lecture me!" Celia glared at Donald, then fixed her eyes on the bag, saying, "Edwin, your bride has to be me!"

An hour later, Celia reappeared at Edwin's house.

It was eleven o'clock at night. Mrs. Kelly, the servant, was confused to see Celia back, asking, "Miss Harris, what are you..."

"I made Edwin some soup. Please bring it to him for me." Celia handed over a thermos pot and looked anxiously at Edwin's room. "He is in a lousy mood tonight. Do ask him to finish the soup before sleep."

Mrs. Kelly hesitated, then nodded, saying, "No problem. I'll bring it over right now."

"Mrs. Kelly!" Celia walked over to the servant. "Don't let him know that it's from me." Still, Celia felt worried, adding, "He has just got married today. I don't want to influence his mood."

"Okay, I understand."

At this moment, Edwin was standing in front of the French window in the study and looking deep out of the window. There was collected data about Effie on his desk, and the woman in the photo had a happy smile.

Just then, Mrs. Kelly pushed the door open and walked in with the soup.

"Mr. Bennett, it's getting late. Please have some soup and go to bed early."

"Just put it there."

Staring at the man's tall, frosty back, Mrs. Kelly hesitated and eventually could not help but say, "If your mother is still alive, she must be thrilled today!"

At her words, Edwin's back stiffened slightly.

"It's your favorite pork chop soup. Have some while it's still warm." After heaving a sigh, Mrs. Kelly turned to leave.

Edwin turned to look at the door. Mrs. Kelly was gone, and the delicious soup on the desk was steaming. Somehow, he suddenly felt warm inside.

Before Edwin's birth, Mrs. Kelly started to work for the Benett Family and look after his mother until she jumped to death from a building.

Mrs. Kelly basically brought up Edwin. Therefore, she knew everything about him, including his diet.

Edwin liked pork chop soup not because it tasted the best but because it was the memory his mother left him.

Every time Edwin drank it, he would think of his mother. This time was no exception.

When Mrs. Kelly stepped out of the study, Celia asked her instantly, "How's it going? Did he drink it?"

"Not yet." Mrs. Kelly looked back in the direction of Edwin's study with a worried expression. However, as a servant, she knew she had to keep reticent and bury those words she wanted to say in her heart.

"You may go to bed now. I'll check on him." With that, Celia walked towards where Edwin was staying.

Mrs. Kelly shook her head helplessly, then went back to her room.

Celia did not enter the room. Instead, she listened at the door for the movements inside.

All of a sudden, the door was opened. Celia lost her balance and bounced into the room.
